For anybody who didn't see this in the other thread:

The fest will not be at the former Sonar compound next year. Here is an interview with Evan (one of the organizers of MDF) where he addresses all of the issues that arose over the weekend and why they will be moving to a new location.

Just a few wishful's that I would like to see on it next year. Even 1 of these bands would make me happy. Regardless whatever the line up turns out to be, I am sure it will be killer and I will be present!

That was a great read. The stadium parking lots would be the way to go. A cab from the hotels is like $5 and tons of parking for people who drive

MDF XII:
May 22-25, 2014

We're already in the process of sorting through venue options available to us, so sometime over the Summer, we'll update you on that. The first group of confirmed bands for next year's fest will be announced in either late July or early August.

A new MDF website is also being pieced together and will be ready to go around the end of July.

Marked on the calendar!

Alduin

PAVOR!

mankvill
07-27-2013, 06:08 AM
The following bands have already confirmed for MDF XII:

AT THE GATES (Sweden)
GORGUTS (Canada)
TAAKE (Norway)
SOLSTAFIR (Iceland)
MGLA (Poland)
EXCRUCIATING TERROR
BONGRIPPER
HEMDALE
DIOCLETIAN (New Zealand)

We thought there would be more to announce today, including a band that will definitely headline one of the days, but that will take another week or two to finalize. Expect the next announcement in about 2 weeks.

Notes: At the Gates, Taake, Solstafir, and MGLA will be making exclusive US appearances at MDF.

We have a feeling many of you will ask what's going on with Carpathian Forest, so here's what's going on. We had preliminary discussion with them right after MDF XI and all parties understand what needs to be done for them to come to the US next year, but since our contact person for the band has been on vacation with no access to e-mail, we have to wait until he's back before confirming that officially. So, as of now, they are NOT confirmed, but chances are likely that they will confirm sometime soon.

I'm there :D

Taake, Gorguts, Excruciating Terror, and Hemdale are incredible first picks. This year is probably going to be much better than last year.

I like At The Gates but hopefully they don't draw in the wrong crowd (their fans). I'd rather see them as a "big draw" band than someone like Down though.

I think I'm going to be attending this year. At The Gates, Taake, Mgla, Solstafir

This along with Roadburn is going to make my bank account hurt.

And this doesn't mean a Gorguts tour. MDF has one-offs all the time.

Doesn't mean a Gorguts tour isn't gonna be announced in coming months though

They mentioned in the post that the only bands (so far) that are making exclusive appearances are At the Gates, Taake, Solstafir, and MGLA. I know it's pretty far-fetched now but it's just a thought.

That's because people are stupid and don't realize that they are really a heavier Celtic Frost and not a Transformers tribute band...

Where is the link to purchase the tickets?
It was on the site. The whole deal was a clusterfuck, button went up 30 minutes late, and site kept crashing. I finally got a ticket into my cart but every time I hit checkout it would just crash. So they posted on facebook they were gonna reschedule it. Then they said a few orders went through and they would be honored. I went back and tried to check out again and it worked. They confirmed on facebook

Tickets are 199. So when they are all released theyll prob be at least 225 for all bands. Watch their facebook for the next scheduled early sale, but it may have the same issues

Super racist. Nokturnal Mortum started out normal and is kinda drifting back that way after their last few albums, but reading a demo on a label know for NS leading is enough to make people wary of doing business with you. Look at what happened to Disma on CiT in 2012.

Yeah at 2:54 the "add to cart" button was there and from then until I got home at 3:20 from work I was trying on my phone. Every time I hit "add to cart" I would check the cart and there would be nothing there. I get home and first try on my laptop it worked fine.

mankvill
08-21-2013, 11:34 AM
It has been awhile since we've announced any bands, so here are a few confirmations to hold you over until things really start to pick up with band announcements, starting next week!

UNLEASHED (Sweden) - Exclusive US appearance!
UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS (UK) - Exclusive US appearance!
UNHOLY GRAVE (Japan)
WITCHRIST (New Zealand)

As you can see, we didn't spend the month of August booking dozens of bands, as we've been in the middle of sorting out the venue situation for next year, which is looking very positive right now. We plan on revealing more info about that during the first half of September.

The next announcement of confirmed bands will be next week, and you can expect frequent updates in September and October as we continue to book more bands. Headliner announcements are still to come.

As a first time attendee this year, I wish I would've planned better on what merch I wanted to buy. Also I wish I would've brought a second pair of shoes. And sunscreen.

Once the venue is announced it'll be easier to plan the trip because you can figure out hotels and such then. It's my favorite weekend of the year though, and it's such a fun time and well worth the trip!

Thanks for the info guys.

I just did a quick check on flights from LAX and the cheapest I saw was over $500! I'm flying to NY and back for around $350 at the end of this month. Is it just expensive to fly to Maryland or have that many people booked their flights already?

Yeah, that place was really cool except for the fact that they were doing renovations and had a couple elevators closed down, so sometimes getting up and down was a pain in the ass. Also, probably not their fault, but they gave us a room with only one bed and there were eight of us staying in the room. I would definitely stay there again though.

It's funny because I used to stream music using the last.fm app to my Xbox and the Ukrainian DSBM band Cancer would play, but the slideshow of pictures would be the death metal band. So, to me, I always have to specify.

Cancer/Pungent Stench would kill!!! But will they be picky and do the same thing as Emperor and stay in Europe area? There's so many festival over there and around the MDF time... Also, they need to book side-projects bands that already have members on the mdf line-up so far side like Grand Supreme Bloodcourt, Hails of Bullets, Disfear, Lock up, The Crown, Bombs of Hades, Darkthrone (can always dream for that one) etc. Anyway best MDF line-up so far since 2010 imo.

3 stages, including the 2 main stages, will be located at 545 N. High Street (Edison Parking lot), which is 1-2 blocks from the old location of Sonar. The setup at the Edison space will eliminate a variety of logistical problems and will ultimately lead to a better experience for you at MDF next year. This space has an approved capacity that is significantly higher than what we’re used to, we can open the entrance 2 hours before the first band each day, we won’t be getting in the way of the Farmers Market on Sunday, we don’t have to close off streets, and once again, we will have MORE space. In addition to adding more shaded areas, there is already existing shade here, so if it gets hot, you won’t be roasting on concrete all day. As far as parking goes, there is an enormous parking lot next to the space we’re using that you’ll be able to park at, and as always, metered parking is possible under the highway that everyone is familiar with from previous years.

On Thursday, bands will only be playing at Rams Head Live, located in the Power Plant Live! section of downtown Baltimore at 20 Market Pl. On Friday-Sunday, bands (death and black metal) will be playing at Rams Head Live between the hours of 10 pm – 2 am, (bands will conclude at the Edison parking space at 11 pm).

On Friday-Sunday, once again, we are doing a grind/hardcore/punk/crust stage at Baltimore Soundstage, located across the street from Rams Head Live at 124 Market pl. Unlike last year, bands will play here all day/night and there won’t be any large gaps between bands.

Generally speaking, this setup was the most sensible solution for us, as it allows us to book a lot of bands, give bands respectable set lengths, eliminate many issues/concerns from last year, and keep the fest close to hotels and other downtown conveniences that everyone is used to.

As early as next week, we will break everything down so you know who is playing where. We will also announce more bands at that time. We still have a few up our sleeve for the main stages, but mostly, we’re down to rounding out the Soundstage billing before being completely finished with booking.

The MDF website will be fully updated with the new band additions and venue info by the end of the day. A map that will help give you a better understanding of what you just read can be found here: http://www.marylanddeathfest.com/venues

I was half-kidding when I said they booked too many bands last time, but I'm actually kinda worried now, especially since they said the hardcore/grind stage isn't going to have big gaps. Gonna make for some tough decisions. PSA for anyone (besides John I guess) looking at this and unfamiliar with many of the bands.. do yourself and favour and check them out, they're pretty much 90% great.

Also, I really doubt anyone would throw poop at Rotting Out. Considering in previous years they've had bands like Nails, Pulling Teeth, Dropdead, INFEST, I doubt Rotting Out would be a problem for most, it's not like they booked Deez Nuts or something like that.

The latest MDF XII news and notes:

We don't have a specific date for the next round (or 2) of band announcements, but we can say that we should be finished booking within the next 2 weeks. As we said previously, we are mainly down to just a few more bands for the main stages and rounding out the lineup for Baltimore Soundstage.

On November 23rd (Saturday - Time of day TBA), various weekend pass options will go on sale, including the pass that allows access to any stage/venue all weekend. Sometime before the 23rd, we will post a list of who is playing where. By the end of November or first week of December, we will be able to reveal a list of bands for each day of the festival, which is when single day ticket options will on sale.

We'd also like to announce that we'll be doing a MDF pre-fest show on Wednesday, May 21st at the Ottobar in Baltimore, located at 2549 N Howard St. More details about this show will be revealed in December/January. In addition to the Wednesday show, we will also be booking a few bands each day at the Sidebar, located at 218 E Lexington St. The Sidebar will feature mostly local bands, and when all is said and done, MDF will host over 100 bands!

Finally, if you ordered an early bird pass in August, all orders will be processed and shipped before this weekend, so you can expect envelopes in your mailbox before the end of next week. Remember, this pass is valid for all stages/venues.

Holy shit I had no idea that Mito was booked for this. I'm very happy for those dudes. They always deliver live - it'll be a great show.

Frankly I'm kinda iffy on them adding yet another day. 4 days seems to be the limit of headbanging and moshing that I can take. My most anticipated are:

Candlemass
In Disgust
Dio/Witch
Mitochondrion
Unholy Grave

and probably Ulcerate & Gorguts too, though I've seen them both at this point. I just wish they would book some more brutal stuff, even just Defeated Sanity would be good.

Repost (edited version)

Things are really starting to come together here in MDF Land.

By early next week, we will be able to announce a specific time that various multi-day ticket options will go on sale on Saturday, November 23rd.

Sometime next week, we will announce the final round of confirmed bands and a list of who is playing where. This announcement will include only a few bands for the main location, more bands for Soundstage, and several bands for the Thursday show at Rams Head (including the headliner for that day).

A break down of who is playing each day will be revealed sometime in early December, a few weeks after we finish booking. Single day tickets will also go on sale at this time.

As cool as it would be to just book bands until the end of time, we can't do that. If you're more into the death/black metal side of things, there will no major conflicts for you to be concerned about between the main Edison location and Rams Head Live. At most, the opening band at Rams Head could possibly start when a headliner at the main location is wrapping up. If your two favorite bands of all-time are say, for example, Immolation and Rotting Out, then you may run into a bit of a snag between venues.

I stayed at the Hampton. I actually found an okay deal for it and I was surprised by how nice the hotel and my room was. One of the biggest hotel bathrooms I've ever had for sure. It'll be pricey but I'd really like to give them my business again.

IMPORTANT SHIT

READ THIS:

IMPORTANT TICKET INFORMATION – PLEASE READ!!
Our web team has been working hard over the last few months to ensure a smooth ticket purchasing experience for Maryland Deathfest patrons. Increased traffic to our website caused technical issues during the Early-bird sales, so we will be directing U.S. patrons to Square, a 3rd party website, to purchase tickets, while International customers will be purchasing directly through our website. Please read the breakdown below CAREFULLY for your purchasing instructions!

U.S. Customers ONLY:
Please go to the following web address: https://squareup.com/market/re-entertainment-llc . This site is for U.S. customers ONLY!! International customers will not be able to complete their payment on this website, they do not accept payments from outside the U.S!! If you are located in the U.S., DO NOT GO TO THE MDF WEBSITE TO BUY YOUR TICKET!! If you do end up on the MDF websites’ ticket page, there will be a link for U.S. customers redirecting you to the correct location to buy your tickets.

International Customers ONLY:
If you live outside the U.S. (this includes Canada), please go to our website, www.marylanddeathfest.com/tickets, to purchase your tickets. Improvements have been made to the MDF website, so International customers should not experience any technical difficulties when purchasing their tickets.

The reason for these changes is because most fest attendees are located in the U.S., and selling the majority of tickets through Square will significantly reduce the likelihood of technical issues like what occurred during the Early-bird sales. Initially, we had wanted to do all ticket sales through Square, however, because they cannot process payments from customers outside the U.S, we had to split up ticket sales.

Lastly, on Friday, November 22nd (no specific time), we will be announcing the final confirmed bands, which will include a few acts for the main stage, and more bands for Soundstage. Also in this announcement, we will let you know which bands playing on Thursday at Ram’s Head Live (including Thursdays’ headliner, for those of you interested in purchasing 4-day All Access passes) and provide a breakdown of bands by venue.

A breakdown of who is playing each day will be revealed sometime in early December, a few weeks after we finish booking. Single day tickets will also go on sale at this time.

Here we go with the (almost) last round of confirmed bands! This round includes only 3 bands for the main location (Edison), mostly bands to round out the Soundstage billing, and a few bands for the Thursday show at Rams Head (including the headliner for that day). Our website will be fully updated within the next couple of hours.

It appears that we will announce one (possibly two) more bands for the main location (Edison) sometime in December. Neither band will be a huge headliner, but will be a nice way to round things out. One band in particular would represent a country that has never been represented before at MDF, and we're currently waiting to make sure that they can make it into the US before announcing them.

New confirmations:...

DARK ANGEL - One of only a few US shows!

TRIPTYKON (Switzerland) - Exclusive US appearance! Headlining the Thursday show at Rams Head.

Damn, only band I really want to see on Thursday is Triptykon... I have the choice between that or a show here in NY, Excruciating Terror/Unholy Grave/Birdflesh/Mesrine/War Master/Entrails. Decisions.. either way it seems to be cheaper to buy an all access pass than one for 3 days at each venue.

Anyways, Dark Angel, Left for Dead, & Maruta are awesome additions. Kind of a headscratcher to see Maruta on the sidestage, but I guess that's where they moved all the grindcore bands. Noothgrush is even more odd, though for some reason that band is pretty popular with punks.
