I am normally not one to post rumors without confirmation *learned that enough the hard way* but there is very strong talks of a Alcest/Anathema North American tour *not sure if one is headlining or co-headline*

One date has been announced in Oakland at the Oakland Opera Metro House in October.

That's all the info I have right now, I'm sure an announcement will be made, especially if true, within the next couple weeks. I can't stop creaming my pants.

Regardless very excited to see dates for this one.

It was posted on their facebook page. I'm trying to find the page again, the first time was hard enough to find when I first saw it.

Were you the one who got everyone's hopes up about Wintersun/Ensiferum Paganfest?

Wintersun decided to be Wintersun and not tour. But it looks like they are now in August. They were on the headlining spot for the tour with Ensifrum, Ex Deo, Trollfest, etc. But Ex Deo decided to do the Euro version and Wintersun just opted out.

But nothing has been announced for August except Canada dates, right? Nothing official here, right?

It will be a Station 4 show, if it happens. I love both bands, but that is the only venue they could get that they could make work.

Mill City Nights is also a possibility unless they're not that popular here.

I love both bands to bill, but they can't fill Mill City Nights. Or if they play there, the upstairs will be closed off.

Oakland Metro Operahouse: Anathema / Alcest incoming October first.

If they wrote it like that it looks like Anathema is headliner. :D

I have flown to England to see Anathema 5 times, they will blow you away.

Stoooked. I hope this comes here because I've been longing to see Alcest again ever since their show with Enslaved many moons ago.

Also, I don't know Anathema at all. Where should I start?

Judgement and Alternative 4, two of the greatest albums ever made.

Stick with the newest albums from Anathema if you wanna get into what they will play live. They used to be a Doom Metal band, now they are Alternative Progressive Rock.

Impaledonafence3

They usually play anything from Alternative 4 on, sometimes one from Eternity. Good chance of them doing the entire Weather Systems.

Also just got conformation, Anathema headlines.

So the best of Alcest followed by over an hour of Anathema. There is no losing in this situation!

They toured last year with Deafheaven. And I believe that Neige is smart enough to know that Anathema is the classic band that deserves to headline.

Not my point at all. Anathema rarely tours with metal bands. I have a big suspicion that the new Alcest is just going to be a Klimt 1918 record. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's not what I want from Alcest.

Neige has said that Faiseurs de Mondes will be the last song from Alcest with Screams. Also that the new album would feature some heavy moments but no more Black Metal. And honestly, that's ok with me. I am a big fan of Souvenirs and that's the album that got me into the band. I wouldn't mind another album like that at all.

Ehhh, I remember him saying that Les Voyages was likely to be the last Alcest release to feature both clean and harsh vocals alongside each other, but I certainly don't think he said that there would never be harsh vocals in Alcest again.

Open to being proven wrong on this one, though.

I actually don't mind either way, because Alcest's cleaner/dreamier material is godlike. Wouldn't mind full sets of that material at all. I just want to see them live again!

I was really surprised as well. They have never been known for booking metal shows then out of the blue they book a Opeth show.

? I thought The Machine Shop was a pretty steady metal venue in that area. IIRC, Damageplan was booked to play there the day after Al Rosa back in 2004. I thought they'd had a bunch of stuff going through there over the years.

TiradesOfTruth

Not really they will sometimes book radio hard rock and borderline metal sometimes. It is mostly just basic generic radio bands that play there. I have never seen a band like Alcest get booked there. The only "metal" bands I can think of that have played there are Chimaira , Hatebreed, All That Remains, and a few other's I'm drawing a blank on lol.

Due to unavoidable circumstances our usual rhythm section of John and Jamie are unable to join us on this particular tour of America. Our fantastic drummer Daniel Cardoso recommended to us his long term musical partner and best friend Tobel Lopes as bass player for these shows. It sounds amazing and we are really very happy to be here.
