I'm not 100% sure but I think that was Pete Helmkamp who jumped up on stage with Deiphago so that must've been a Blasphemy cover

Fucking Cobalt set. Fuck. Could only be improved by adding "A Starved Horror" and "When Serpents Return."

Fucking Cobalt set. Fuck. Could only be improved by adding "A Starved Horror" and "When Serpents Return."Yeah, it was quite specfuckingtacular. They played the best stuff from "Gin" for sure. "Arsonry" had me pounding on my chest I was so fucking pumped. You should go see them in Pittsburgh on Monday at the Smiling Moose. It's much closer than Baltimore, and our very own moobys37 booked the show just for die-hard Cobalt fans like you and me.

By the way, Phil was really cool and had tipped me off that "Arsonry" was coming before they played, and Erik was as gracious as he was the first time I met him in Cleveland touring with Bruce Lamont. Obviously, it was also a pleasure watching him beat the shit out of the drum kit as well, though. :D

That Cobalt set is almost identical to what I've always wanted. I agree though, I'd like When Serpents Return.

Eater of Birds

For a first time listener, Cobalt was awesome. Some of the best live vocals ever

For a first time listener, Cobalt was awesome. Some of the best live vocals everAs much as it was a dream come true to finally see them perform live, they are SO MUCH better on album. Their playing is tight and well-produced (especially on "Gin"), and the ambient stuff adds a layer of awesomeness that just can't be reproduced live (although Erik said they are going to try on their upcoming "mini-tour"). Welcome to the flock - now give them a serious listen - STAT. :D

Ditto.
It's a shame Bolt Thrower's set got cut short though, they were killer.

I filmed Abigail's Satanik Metal Fucking Hell although the secruity guard was standing on the water cooler so his head makes a bunch of unwanted appearances.

So Bolt Thrower just ran out of time? That's why When Cannons Fade was cut short?

Yeah they were supposed to go on 10 minutes earlier. Strict curfew due to it being outside I guess.

Yup...I personally blame the soundboard. It took them forever to soundcheck the drums and the vocals were too low for most of the bands as well. Also, when the stage crew was trying to signal them with flashlights it took them 3+ tries to get a response...they even switched from a maglight to one of those high-intensity flashlights with a handle to try and get their attention. Their intro sample also was never played (the siren)....and then it randomly went off after they got off of the stage.

All in all I still got to see a band that most people won't so I have to be grateful for that. My only regret is that I only got one shirt (Cenotaph).

Can someone confirm whether or not they play "No guts, No glory." It is listed on the "roll call" MDF thread but not this one.

I looked at the roll call thread again and noticed that Where Next to Conquer is missing in here too.

The "roll call" thread set list is based on the photo I took of the printed set list. I don't recall whether they actually played NGNG or WNTC, because I've seen / heard so much freakin' metal over the last few days it's all a blur right now. Maybe someone else remembers, or maybe I'll figure it out when I get home and sort the 32 GB of pics and vids I took.

Got a few other ones myself. Convulse and Benediction rocked, especially the latter. Dave Hunt is such a great frontman. Evoken was perhaps the best band of the festival so far. I felt like all my organs were melting throughout their set. Repulsion killed it too. They had only one guitar, but the sound was surprisingly brutal and clear at the same time (the drum sound in particular, it was pounding). Unfortunately, I've sprained my left wrist in the huge pits. It didn't hurt that much at first so I continued moshing and watching bands. Carcass was pure fun. It was a childhood dream come true to finally see them live. Pelican was really heavy, hypnotic, aerial and refreshing. The new songs they played were stunning. After them, I grabbed a scotch whiskey at some friends' hotel room and rushed to the Soundstage to catch Tragedy. They were impressive. So much passion and energy in there.

I then went back to sleep, but the pain in my wrist came back when the adrenaline went down and it kept getting worse, keeping me from sleeping. I tried putting ice on it for a few hours, while messing around on the hotel computer, but it didn't do a thing. I ended up going to the nearby hospital and getting it fixed. I feel fine now, though I've slept less than 2 hours... Ready for day three!

They gave me a fuckload of painkillers and something to hold it straight. By the way, wanna meet today? I'll be wearing an Intronaut shirt, shorts and probably a stupid looking Kennebunkport cap, plus some gray thing around my left forearm.
