Holy fuck this show was awesome. Went with my older cousin and a friend of his. The show was sold out as well.

Well I didn't watch Royal Thunder. Went next door to Reggies to eat. Funny thing was they wouldn't let me into the resturant at first because it was bar onle 21+ but my cousins friend must have said something to the bouncer who then let us in saying that I had to swear I wasn't going to drink.

Walked in during The Faceless and they were decent. Didn't have a good spot so barely saw the stage but they sounded decent. Had a few pits going. Not a band I'd go out of my way to see.

Faceless set:

Autotheist Movement I: Create
Autotheist Movement II: Emancipate
Autotheist Movement III: Deconsecrate
Legion of the Serpent
Accelerated Evolution
Ten Billion Years
Xenochrist

DEP was able to start so I found a good place to watch on a staircase and at 10:50 DEP hit the stage. The second the first note of Prancer started the place went fucking crazy. Greg jumped into the crowd as did their guitarist. Everyone was fucking jumping and spinning around. Greg sounded fucking amazing the entire set. During Farewell Mona Lisa the guitarist took a run on top of the crowd and made a good 5 or 6 steps before falling onto of everyone.

Before When I Lost My Bet, Greg had stated that they should play something else off the new record since it comes out soon, he then added that today it had officially leaked online and laughed. Greg did mention how he plans on doing more Chicago shows soon since the band always has fun and how their show a few years ago at the Bottomlounge is still one of his favorites. Greg did get really pissed though at secuirty and how strict they were.

Reggies doesn't allow surfing or diving of any sort and security was tight. A guard on each side of the stage and at least 5 more in the crowd and in the pit grabbing anyone who even attempted too. A few times Greg would catch the surfer and wrap his arms around him until he could dive back into the crowd and the crowd would then make sure secuirty wouldn't get the guy. During one part security grabbed a guy and tried taking him backstage to kick him out and the guitarist wouldn't let them until security almost pushed the guitarist away it looked.

Finally Greg said that this was some fucking bullshit and if security wasn't going to let anyone do anything then he would have to come down in the crowd and he did. He walked to the back and after the song started ended up crowd surfing and jumping on top of the crowd for the entire crowd.

Their bassist did have some sound issues throughout the set though but that didn't stop him from being a madman.

Greg did a full flip into the crowd and during one part the guitarist was holding the guitar just by the strap running around the stage swinging the guitar around. Greg and the guitarist both were jumping on the drums and cabinets the entire set.

The show ended with Greg climbing up the side of the venues wall hanging onto a real loose fence it is by the balcony section and climbing on top of the wall of amps that hangs above the stage and making them swing back and forth being leaping into the crowd. it was fucking insane. Greg hopped back on stage and tore the drum set apart while the guitarist just stood there smashing his guitar apart into the symbol.

I really have to say too that Greg is a insane sounding vocalist. His screams are godly.

DEP played for about a hour and 10 minutes.

So year DEP were one of the most amazing fucking shows I've ever seen. This was a random out of order recount of shit I saw tonight.

DEP Set :

Prancer
Farewell, Mona Lisa
Milk Lizard
Sugar Coated Sour
Panasonic Youth
Room Full of Eyes
Gold Teeth on a Bum
When Good Dogs Do Bad Things

Yeah Greg and their guitarist really were going batshit crazy.

Also the band had enough stobe lights to light up a 10,000 person venue. So it made this 400 person place a fucking rave.

And they did make it up for the no diving part because after Greg jumping from the speakers the guard on stage was smiling in shock.

Mullet Burden -> Calc Infinity -> Dead as History? Holy shit I would have died.

Too bad they're not playing here on this tour or on SS. Would love to see them in an intimate venue

When I Lost My Bet is so good live, esp when Ben is a foot away from your face.

That Faceless set is godlike , Autotheist Movement in it's entirety:drool: Even though I got to see Dillinger, I'm really sad that The Faceless and Royal Thunder didn't play at NEMHF.

The lack of more songs I like off of Planetary Duality is a bit sad, but I can't argue with the Autotheist Movement in it's entirety.

That DEP set could use another song or two off of Ire Works (enough with Milk Lizard guys), but again, Calculating Infinity, The Mullet Burden, and When Good Dogs Do Bad Things are more than enough to make that a fucking awesome show. I'm stoked for the date in RVA.

Loving that Faceless set, the full Autotheist Movement is great.

I imagine the set time is the only reason they aren't closing with An Autopsy or playing a few other tracks off Planetary Duality.

No biggie, but maybe the mods can get the correct spelling of the band.

I was just fuckin' with you anyways, no way you could pay to see a band and not even know how to spell their name. At least I would hope so.;)
