Venue: The Vex in Los Angeles, CA

It's been 2 and a half years since Suffocation has been to CA on tour. Absolutely incredible performance and pretty packed for a Tuesday night. I saw Marduk and Moonspell at the same venue a month previous on a Saturday night and the crowd attendance was about the same.

Sorry for a lame first review haha. I'm so drained physically and mentally from all of the excitement, anticipation and tears (yup, that's right) of joy I had when Suffocation came on stage. It was my 16th time seeing them and they're still the best live band I've ever seen (my opinion of course).

Exhumed was awesome as well. My good friend Bob is the bassist/low vocals, so it was great catching up with him too. They had some cool T-Shirts; both Suffo and Exhumed. I bought a $20 Despise the Sun shirt! Never expected to ever see one reprinted!

Got there when Rings of Saturn played. Music was meh but outstanding vocals. Can't stand Jungle Rot. The crowd loved them and the band was having a blast onstage so it's nothing personal at all. I just find them highly generic.

1. Thrones of Blood *
2. As Grace Descends *
3. Catatonia *
4. Funeral Inception *
5. Rapture of Revocation *
6. Pierced from Within *
7. Liege of Inveracity
8. Devoid of Truth :rocker::rocker::rocker:
9. Purgatorial Punishment
10. Cataclysmic Purification
11. My Demise
12. Infecting the Crypts *
--------------------------
13. Mass Obliteration *

* = Means the order is correct. Tried my best memory wise and that's fairly accurate.

I've waited YEARS for them to play "Devoid of Truth"! Since Culross is in the band again and he played on the Despise the Sun EP, they've been playing it live now.

Did the play Mass Obliteration because they had extra time? I remember seeing it like second in the set at an earlier date... Either way I hope they play it in Chicago.

It was a real encore! We were chanting "One more song!" for a good 2 or so minutes, and they came back out and had to get Terrance and Derek to come back in who were already outside.

I'm so glad I went to this, Who knows when or if I'll get to see them with Frank again. Mass Obliteration was fucking awesome. Even the new stuff was killer live.

They're the best band I've seen too (by far). I've been lucky enough to see them 5 times over the last 5 years.

It was a last minute thing. My friend called me up and said he and a couple other people were going so I was able to ride with them.

It was ridiculous haha. I was upfront on the rail on Terrence's side. That encore was LOUD!

Thank you so much man! I'm also glad Suffocation was the first band I posted this for, and many more to come! :rocker:

I remember I saw Suffocation in 2004 with Morbid Angel and Satyricon.

I knew very little about extreme metal at the time (I was raised on the orthodox 80s metal but nothing more until I got to college). I went there to see Morbid Angel. Suffocation stole the show, and has continued to do so every single time I've seen them since then (which is a lot, but not quite as many times as Litany). They're total pros.

Yep Frank's one of the best vocalists ive had the pleasure watching live. Mike Smith on drums too... holy shit.

I bet Dave Culross is just as good live though, the new album rips my face off.

My first time seeing Suffo was also at that tour. Satyricon were good and Morbid Angel were excellent, but couldn't compare to Suffocation.

He's not the only one that ended up going to this show. :rocker:

Too bad I lost the left lens to my glasses at this show.. Ended up driving with one eye closed back home. :(
