That is a badass album cover. Cannot wait to hear this and I hope it doesn't sound like Superjoint Ritual.

Damn. Somehow I never knew about this song. I don't like it nearly as much as Down or Pantera but I also don't think it sounds like Superjoint Ritual. Superjoint had just weird yelling vocals that weren't really screams and more punk-like music. I think this is still a lot more metal.

It's not as raw or sloppy but definitely has the aggression that SJR had on their two albums. It's a good cross between the most extreme Pantera stuff like Slaughtered and SJR. Marzi is a great guitarist and was originally in SJR for a brief period when the band started. He is a great player, look him up on youtube.com.

Starting to sound a little more like Superjoint.

Lead guitarist Marzi helped write alot of the first SJR album. He obviously didn't play on the album. His work on the illegals is excellent imo. Heavy yet not sloppy like SJR.

True.

When I said that I meant vocally, specifically. Phil started doing more of that Superjoint-type yelling in that song.

It sounds like a cross between Far Beyond Driven era Pantera (think Slaughtered, Third Arm, Hard Lines, etc) meets Superjoint Ritual. The entire album is great if you are into that style of metal.

Average. Phil is capable of so much better than this.

I think his goal was to make it sound less melodic and more raw, so he definitely succeeded, in my mind anyways.

Definitely. But I'm certain he could have achieved that and still made better music.

I think he's doing a great job with his new tunes.

Agreed. The style he is playing is exactly what I wanted.
