Rumored bands are Jane's Addiction, Alice In Chains, Coheed & Cambria, Circa Survive.

I was hearing rumors that Alice In Chains would play and that Papa Roach may play again this year due to only playing a few dates on the 2012 before having to pull out. HellYeah also mentioned to fans after a concert that they were talked to play too.

JA makes no sense. They are better when they are on those festivals with the shitty indie/hipster bands. This doesn't seem like it'd fit as well. JA seemed blown off the stage by Street Sweeper Social Club & NIN on the NINJA tour few years back. I'd still try seeing them again though.

Plus can AIC draw enough to headline a amphitheater?

Let's see....

Facelift - 2 million (copies sold in the US)
Dirt - 4 million
Sap - Gold
Jar Of Flies - 3 million
Alice In Chains - 2 million
Unplugged - Platinum
Black Gives Way To Blue - Gold

Plus, the radio still plays the shit out of their stuff both old and new. I'd say they're good to fill amphiteaters by themselves. Just like their fellow bands from Seattle, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, AIC has been able to maintain a very big following over the last 20 years. Let's not forget, when a band has a lot of hits and name recognition, a lot of people will go to the shows just for that alone.

This seems strange for Uproar. Popular acts but different from previous years. I wonder if this would attract the usual Uproar crowd or if they are just trying to bring in new people. I want to see AiC again but would probably wait until they come around on their own.

While I'm not sure on who will play I would bet that the opening bands on the main stage and the small stage is made up entirely of radio rock bands.

One thing a lot of people are not aware of is that the tour organizer worked for Lollapalooza, Guns N' Roses (Illusions era I believe) and several other bands through out the years. He has numerous contacts with bands. Since Lollapalooza is not a tour any longer and with the resurgence of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden, a alternative rock/grunge type of tour would fill a void for fans of those genres right now. It will be interesting to see who the other bands are on the tour.

I don't think AIC is that big of a draw. If they could fill decent sized venues by themselves, they would have done it already. You can talk about all the albums they sold, obviously most of those were with Layne. Comparing them to Pearl Jam and Soundgarden doesn't mean shit, those bands still have the same singers. Not saying they're bad, but most people don't give a shit about seeing them. On this site people do care, I realize that.

I could give two shits less about who else is on this tour...I've gone each year, regardless of who's playing...but if Coheed and Cambria is playing, I'll be spending the extra cash for pit tickets this year!

Does seem like a strange line-up so far though. Coheed and Jane's aren't exactly major radio rock bands like Shinedown and Disturbed. The side stage is gonna need to be full of mediocre, regurgitated shit if they plan on getting as many asses in seats as they did last year.

I see the rest of the tour shaping up as such

I'm not sure what people were wanting or expecting. Were you really wanting to see another modern radio rock tour with the likes of Hollywood Undead, Buckcherry, Pop Evil, so forth? Kudos to Rockstar for trying something different. In other words, it looks like Carnival of Madness will provide the modern radio rock acts this year. Uproar seemed to take a different approach rather than trying to replicate. I like the alternative route this year. The main stage is killer. Danko Jones and Middle Class Rut are excellent. Must be selling too well because AIC just posted that for all dates they are doing another sale for $10 lawn and $20 seats.

Besides AinC and Jane's not many people wanna pay to see the other bands. I am glad Uproar changed it up this year, but they should have put some bigger bands on the side stages.

This tour either overvalues or undervalues bands

Like having Godsmack and Staind billed so low last year, where this year Circa Survive is not a main stage band by any means

No surprise, bumping this.
My buddy actually got some for 10 last week at the ZZ Top/Kid Rock show.

I mean your average crowd more than likely doesn't know anyone from the side stages and even other than AIC and Jane aren't familiar with other main stagers.

Jane's Addiction plays clubs and they are now 2nd billed on main stage.

Tickets are selling like shit for the show i'm going to next sunday as well. I'm a little surprised by this because our local rock station plays the shit out of AIC, both new and old material. I thought for sure they would be able to draw better around here just based off that. I guess AIC isn't as popular as I thought even though they always seem to get a ton of hype.

I think it just has to do with the price of the show. I mean pit tickets for the show i'm going to are $100 after the charges. I don't think the strength of the bill has a lot to do with it. For the most part if a package tour has a strong headliner or a couple of strong main stage bands that's usually enough to get people to come in droves.

Also, even though I only paid $15 for my lawn ticket after charges, if only I knew this tour would sell like absolute shit so I could grab a decent lower pavillion seating for like $10 more. Ah well.

They're just not that big. And I don't know anybody who would pay to see Jane's Addiction, their name precedes their music.
The AIC/Deftones/Mastodon tour filled small arenas, and in San Jose it didn't even quite sell out. I don't think JA/Coheed can even match what Deftones/Dong draw, plus all the other bands are basically moot because it's not a summer show and a lot of the shows are happening during the week.
