Currently in post-production, set for a November 2013 release. It has Asa Butterfield playing Ender and Harrison Ford playing Colonel Graff. I have mixed feelings, because Ender's Game is my favorite book of all time and I don't want to see it get assraped by Hollywood. The movie is going to be based on both Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, which take place during the same time but it seems like it's a lot of material to condense into a two hour film. Also instead of being preadolescents the script has all the child characters as teenagers, and instead of taking place over a span of 5-6 years it's been condensed to 1-2 years.
Your move, Hollywood. If you fuck this up I'll be a sad boy.

Bumping up the ages takes away some of the impact of the story, but it's necessary if you're going to make a movie. You're just not going to get child actors that age who can carry that kind of material convincingly.
I'm definitely curious about this, if only to see how they do the battle rooms. It's one of those things I had a hard time visualizing in my head when I was reading the book.

That's the one thing that I think the movie is going to completely differ from the way I visualized it. Except maybe the Command School simulations.

Yup, so looks like the Battle room is going to have see through/sloped walls. Different from the book but will probably look cool in the battle scenes.

The age difference thing bothers me, but it is completely unavoidable.
I hope that doesn't mean that the book is unadaptable though. To me it seems like it will take away from the story pretty significantly honestly. :eyes:
