View Full Version : NINE INCH NAILS ARE FUCKING BACK, BABY!

NOTE FROM TRENT:
Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.
I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.
Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon.

What a SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK line up of new NIN now. Adrian Belew? That arena tour in the fall. I will be there as well.
Probably the BEST live show/setup I've ever been to when I saw them w/ Boris in '08.
You could pretty much see this coming however. Doesn't cheapen it at all for me.

I figured Trent would have NIN tour again and I'm very excited. I saw them on the 2006 With Teeth Summer tour and it was an incredible show. Every so often I regret being too lazy/stupid to not seeing their two Chicago shows on the Wave Goodbye tour. I won't make that mistake again. Hopefully.

So I'm pretty sure I just found confirmation that NIN is coming to Orlando, FL. I was looking at the page for the Justin Timberlake show coming (don't judge me) and started looking at the various seating charts. Most of the shows coming had their own separate seating charts, and I noticed that one of the charts is titled "NIN" with a GA floor (all of the other shows coming up have seats on the floor). No date for it, but I would guess it is between the end of October and the beginning of November (around the time of Voodoo and MOEMS).

I'm really digging the new song, however my most favorite 2 albums are Downward Spiral and Fragile and I don't think those will ever be topped. And it seems that after those, Trent kind of ran out of creative power and has kind of repeated a lot of things on the albums that followed. I still really enjoyed those albums a lot, but they're just not as exciting and interesting as my favorite 2.

I think he might be tough to work w/ but in all honesty, Trent is NIN. He is the final say. That's probably why they've been through so many members. He's better off getting a guitar player who's not a big name. A big guitar player would probably want to do their own thing, rather than what Trent wants. Lets be honest, Adrian fuckin Belew doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to do. Of course I figured he'd know ahead time its Trents show. If he is out its best do it before the tour starts. Hopefully its not true, I'd love to see such a great guitar player w/ NIN.

No different on the Lights In The Sky tour. Are there really tons of metal bands that can sell upper and lower level of an arena? Pretty sure they do an arena because of the fact their stage and light show is so incredibly huge. No way their show would work at a theater.

Gotta say I'm a little disappointed w/ NIN. Looks like they are trying to milk this reunion for all its worth. On Lights In The Sky w/ the EXACT same setup (arenas, end stage, GA floor, etc...) when I saw them in Tulsa I paid between $45-55 to be on the GA floor. After looking on Ticketmaster out of the 3 or 4 I looked at, the floor is going for $100+. I'm sure it will be an amazing show like Lights In The Sky.
If they say this tour will be an extension of it, then why in the hell is the price literally twice what it was in 2008? I love NIN and they put on the best live stage show I've ever seen but I'm disappointed that they are jacking their prices up all because of the shtick of "reuniting". Kinda reeks of a $ grab.

I'd find that hard to believe that they have little to no control over their ticket prices. That did jog my memory a little bit though... I do also remember that in '08 was when they were independent and now that they signed to Columbia their tickets are sky high.
I get that on a major label the tickets would probably go up a bit, but it seems hard to believe that they go from independent to major label and that doubles the prices of their shows. Again, I don't know for sure but that seems a bit excessive to me.

I mean, i'm sure they control it somewhat indirectly with how much they get paid by the promoter each show and the stage productions costs and all that, but ultimately it's the promoters who decide what the ticket prices are.

That's easy. Tour income is the only way to pay back the money fronted by the label for recording because record sales don't cover it anymore. When they were fronting the money themselves (and probably doing things on a much lower budget accordingly), there was less to recoup. Now they've got to make more money to pay back Columbia.
And of course, don't rule out the fact that they're only touring again because the money's run out from last time.
