The esteemed DEATH TO ALL Tour, celebrating the life and music of DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, will be returning in 2013 for an even larger run of dates. After a successful 2012 run, the tour, now referred to as DTA1, will feature the original lineup of DEATH from Human — guitarist Paul Masvidal, bassist Steve DiGiorgio, and drummer Sean Reinert, with special guest vocalist/guitarist Max Phelps of Cynic/Exist. The band will be playing a selection of songs from the first four DEATH albums including the cream of the Human album.

Once again, the spirit of the tour is to spread the word and raise money for the charity Sweet Relief, while keeping the music and legacy of Chuck Schuldiner alive. A second version of the tour, dubbed DTA2, is planned for North America later this year, and will focus on the final three DEATH albums, plus a one-off European date at Neurotic Deathfest May 3 that will cover the entire DEATH catalog. A complete listing of dates is included below while a limited number of VIP tickets are available here.

Additionally, 2013 will continue to see the deluxe reissues of DEATH’s catalog by Relapse Records. Over the last couple of years, the label has painstakingly reissued and remastered the later albums from the DEATH catalog including The Sound of Perseverance, Individual Thought Patterns, Human, Spiritual Healing and other Chuck Schuldiner related releases. These DEATH titles are currently available for streaming at this location. Details on the 2013 reissues will be announced shortly.

I'm going again for sure if it comes back around...
That said, I don't know why they would do this in back to back years. Seems like an awful lot of trouble to get a bunch of musicians that are doing different things these days for a few shows that aren't supposed to be making a profit...

They don't deserve to tour as Death, plain and simple. It's like Black Sabbath touring without Tony Iommi.

After the amazing opening night in SF last year, I really don't have much interest in seeing this. I'm guessing the Obscura dude is gonna do the latter day Chuck vocals, which is lame because Matt Harvey totally annihilated on that end on last year's tour.

https://www.facebook.com/DeathOfficial

From Death Official on Facebook:

Hello people. A minute to explain about the name 'DTA', since it has caused a lot of chatter...

As you know, 'Death To All' was a one-off, five US city tour organized by Sick Drummer Magazine in June 2012. It featured seven former DEATH members and had our blessing. The shows were killer but behind the scenes things went wrong: Sick Drummer mostly didn't pay anyone (the musicians, us, the booking agent, the opening bands, the crew, the charity), they cancelled 2 shows, and there were questions about refunds, etc. What a mess.

The bottom line was that DEATH fans loved it, we loved doing it, and so decided to carry on if it was possible. But UNBELIEVABLY in June 2013, despite the fact they owed everyone tens of thousands of dollars, Sick Drummer's Ian Macdonald wrote me a demand letter saying he wanted FIFTY GRAND for the name 'Death To All'. We had trademarked it but were so pissed off that he could sink so low that we all made the decision to cease using the term 'Death To All' - most people simply refer to what we're doing as 'DTA' anyway, so only refer to the tours now as 'DTA'. We continue to use the DEATH logo because it needs to be obvious to everyone that this is official and sanctioned by us.

I hope this clears things up. DEATH as a band ceased to exist in 2001 when Chucky died. DEATH now continues on as an important metal brand. DTA is another tool in keeping the legacy alive. Everyone that sees the DEATH logo knows that Chuck died years ago but that his music is timeless. DTA is one means of getting together to celebrate Chuck's creations,

Enjoy the metal flowage. ERIC

Is it just me, or should they just have done a full NA and Euro tour over like 2-3 months with the full lineup and been done with it for a while?
The whole clusterfuck of the first tour was due to transporting like 2 bands worth of musicians around the country for a handful of shows.
