At least it isn't far traveling  I might hit this up, just depends on who is opening.

I know of a band that Phil Anselmo really really wants on this tour, but it'll more than likely not happen. I'll say who they are once the tour lineup actually gets announced- those dudes can actually find me on here. :eyes:

Nah, not Portal. These guys are a pretty odd choice to open for a band like Down, so I doubt anyone will guess them. I'll pretty much leave it at that for now.

Well with my interview with Jimmy Bower, he and Phil were really talking about their love for Helmet and The Melvins, so I'd guess one of those two as well. Or Lightning Swords oF Death which Phil also loves, at least that's what he said on stage.

Right, like any band supporting Down right now will be called anything but Warbeast.

Down and Warbeast are becoming like Manowar and Holy Hell.

I have been waiting for one of these tours to swing up to Canada but it hasn't seemed to happen yet. Does anyone know if Down has played here before or if they have issues crossing into Canada?

They also opened for Heaven & Hell on their first ever tour in 2007, though Phil got sick and they cancelled a few dates (including the one in Regina, which I attended).

And yeah, I saw them in Vancouver in '09 and they were seriously awesome. I was really expecting them to have some Canadian dates by now. Hopefully they'll come here on this touring cycle at some point.

Alright the tour's announced so I guess I can let everyone know what's up. Anselmo really wants to tour with Slough Feg believe it or not. Problem is that the Feg dudes have full time jobs and for the guarantees that Down's booking agent were offering, they couldn't take the tour. Anselmo and Pat Bruders invited the whole band out to their SF show so they could meet and talk tour and whatnot. That night happened to be on the last day of initial tracking for the next Feg record. Scalzi got sick with a flu that weekend, and didn't end up going to the show (I know this because I gave the guy a ride home and advised him to get a good night's sleep instead of staying out haha). Everyone else met with the Down dudes though, I don't know any more beyond that.

This band is definitely performing in Austin at the Housecore Horror Film Festival, but I guess that's probably a given.

Never even heard of these bands so I'll probably just see Down at MDF and leave it at that.
