A mere dusting for you guys. Didn't you have like 10 feet (literally) of lake effect snow a couple winters ago?

Send some of that just a little bit southwest. :D

I've heard predictions ranging from 4" to two feet here. The meteorologists really have no fucking clue on this one.

No it's not a mere dusting for us. Yes, we get our fair share of snow and we're used to it but that much snow coming down really messes things up. It's not like our lazy as fuck plow drivers in this area come around at all and help out either. Rochester and Syracuse are colder and get more snow than us all the time yet we get all this shit for having bad weather. It's because we have a pro football team and more people are able to see what it's like here but overall we are not the worst in the state when it comes to winter weather.

I don't know about that lake effect stat but if it did happen it certainly wasn't in the city. The towns south of the city get it much worse than us, so if that did happen it was there. If we get 8 inches in the city the south towns will get something like 16-20 inches. That's why our ski resorts are down there.

I have to work Friday night from 5 to 12:30-1, should be super dead and a crazy night of driving haha. Maybe my place will close, but that's only happened once due to snow in three years I've been there. So probably not.

The old farts at work are already bitching about having to shovel that night and are all trying to get out of it. Lucky for me I'm working a different school that day so the shoveling I have to do is only minor.

New map.

The Blizzard of '78 put down 27.1" at Logan Airport.
If this map turns out to be right....this will be fun.

They do a good job keeping the roads clear here (maybe too good; until it rained last week we had a thick crust of salt covering EVERYTHING), but my apartment sucks ass at shoveling the sidewalks and clearing the parking lots.

Seriously, if I was wrong as often as meteorologists in my job, I'd be unemployed.

Got like 4-5" last night and the roads are mess. They didn't close our office, though. I went in for a couple hours and when I came to the conclusion that they weren't going to send us home until it got much worse/more dangerous, so I took leave for the rest of the day and went home.

We actually got hit harder here in Toronto than I expected but not as bad as the media was hyping it. It looks like close to half a foot and still dropping.

Shit, dude you live in Keswick? Me too! Small world. Anyway, I'm just taking a break from shoveling my driveway and there's definitely more than a foot on it. I suspect some of it is drift, but that's a shit-ton of snow!

But not until Monday.

Yeah, I guesstimated six inches BEFORE I went out. I'd say closer to a foot and not stopping. I did an hour of shovelling when I got home from work at 3am today, then another hour and a half today and my wife wanted to take over and has been out there for almost an hour now.

Tomorrow, snow blower shopping!

And Keswick is a very nice town that unfortunately has a few bad eggs that give the whole town a bad name, much like Oshawa.

I read that as "metalerologists", heh.
I have a corner bedroom, two outside walls, so my room is pretty susceptible to cold. I'm into the snow, though.
Just today my copy of the Ceremonial Oath - Book of Truth reissue landed in my mailbox right before conditions tanked, so I'll cozy up with that in my playlist later on.

I grew up in Whitby/Brooklin (Ontario). It came time to buy a new house when we were expecting child number two and I got thirty percent more house for almost the same cost in mortgage and taxes in Keswick than Durham region. It made sense to me.

People always make fun of me anyways, so if it wasn't for living in Keswick it would be something else.

Yeah they are not fucking around with this storm. I got home about 3:30, and plenty of people were still out :eyes:. I like going out driving in the snow, but I am not risking jail time/possible accident with this one.

I love that feeling of victory after cleaning my driveway of a foot of snow...before the road plow comes by and dumps a three foot mountain of heavy snow at the foot of my driveway.

But for that ten minutes I was king.

I guess I shouldn't complain from what I've heard the NE States got.

So how did it all look for you this morning? My deck is just covered by a 4 foot high snow drift and my cat got stuck in a pile in front of the door he uses when he tried to climb over it.

Pretty much the same thing here, except I have a Jack Russell and it was fucking hilarious watching him take a dump in the back yard.

24.9" was the official tally at Logan, making it the 5th largest recorded snowstorm in Boston's history.

Shows ya how much of a difference a few miles can make though. I'm in Somerville, the first city north of Boston, and we got 28".

Just got back from digging out my aunt's car. You literally couldn't see any of it at first. Took 2 hours to get it moving.

mastodon421

I believe we got just shy of two feet were I'm at on the North Shore. I kind of forgot how much blizzards sucked since there were none last year.

It'll be gone until the sewers & catch basins can't handle anymore & the streets become giant pools. I'm worried about that happening here. Today was the first real melting day (44 degrees) and the puddles were massive already.
