I've spent a lot of time thinking about this, and I've decided I'm going to do it.I will post a picture of the album, tracklist, recommended track, what genre it is, and short review on the album.I hope everybody might find something they like, so let's get it started!!

100.L.A. Guns - L.A. Guns

Tracklist:
1.No Mercy
2.Sex Action
3.One More Reason
4.Electric Gypsy
5.Nothing To Lose
6.Bitch Is Back
7.Cry No More
8.One Way Ticket
9.Hollywood Tease
10.Shoot For Thrills
11.Down In The City

Genre: Glam Metal/Sleaze Rock

I recently discovered this album a couple of months ago, and I gotta say it's killer. This is definitely one of the best debuts of all time.Anyone that has only heard "Ballad Of Jayne", needs to hear this immediately.Every track is great, and all glam fans and rock fans should like it.Standouts include "Sex Action", "Electric Gypsy" (first song I heard by them when I was like 9), and "Down In The City".This band could also be considered one of the earliest "sleaze rock" bands.

99.It's Only Rock 'N' Roll - The Rolling Stones
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61UJOoYQL%2BL.jpg

Tracklist:
1.If You Can't Rock Me
2.Ain't Too Proud To Beg
3.It's Only Rock 'N Roll (But I Like It)
4.Till The Next Goodbye
5.Time Waits For No One
6.Luxury
7.Dance Little Sister
8.If You Really Want To Be My Friend
9.Short And Curlies
10.Fingerprint File

Genre: Classic Rock

The Rolling Stones are undoubtedly one the most influential bands of all time, and rightfully so.This is what I believe to be their best record, with awesome songs like "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "Dance Little Sister" and "If You Can Rock Me", witch all have a great rock 'n toll groove to them. The real highlight here is "Time Waits For No One", possible one of my favorite songs of all time.Every rock 'n roll fan should listen to this record, because it's the Stones at their best.

Yeah most hair metal bands use to pop out records like crazy. The hard part would be trying to name 100 hair metal bands off the top of your band.

98.New World Messiah - Nocturnal Rites

Tracklist:
1.New World Messiah
2.Against The World
3.Avalon
4.Awakening
5.Egyptica
6.Break Away
7.End Of Days
8.The Flame Will Never Die
9.One Nation
10.Nightmare
11.Iron Force

Genre: Power Metal

I once read that Nocturnal Rites are the Bon Jovi of power metal, and couldn't agree more with that statement. Most people think Afterlife or Shadowland is their best record, but to me this one is by far their best.Songs like "Against The World", "Avalon", and "Break Away" are classic power metal anthems, with Against The World being the best song of the album. This album will please all power metal fans, and maybe some casual metal fans as well. All in all a excellent power metal album.

Tracklist:
1.Everyone's A Star
2.10,000 Lovers (In One)
3.As Far As The Eye Can See
4.Sapphire
5.Child's Play
6.Smooth Syncopation
7.Listen To Your Heart
8.Desperate Night
9.Northern Lights
10.Incipits
11.Tell No Tales

Genre: Glam Metal

TNT is definitely one of the most underrated hair bands out their. The didn't have any hit singles (they should have though), but of course that doesn't matter to me when you have a killer album. The only track I don't like here is the unneeded interlude "Smooth Syncopation", but of course the rest of the album is filled with incredible songs like the title-track, my personal favorite "10,000 Lovers (In One)", "Everyone's A Star", and "Listen To Your Heart".This might only appeal to the glam metal crowd, but could possibly interest fans of general rock. This is definitely my favorite TNT album.

2.All She Wrote
3.Shake & Tumble
4.Don't Treat Me Bad
5.Oughta Be A Law
6.Lover's Lane
7.Home Is Where The Heart Is
8.Don't Walk Away
9.Seasons Of Change
10.Overnight Sensation
11.Love Of A Lifetime
12.Helpless

Genre: Glam Metal

FireHouse where one of the last bands to make it big in the hair metal scene, they even had a top 40 hit in 1995 (probably the only hair band to do so).But this debut is by far their best.Great guitar and drum work on this, not to mention great vocals. These guys are actually one of the few bands I like where their singles are their best songs."Love Of A Lifetime" and "Don't Treat Me Bad" are extremely awesome songs, but that doesn't mean the rest of the album is bad though."Overnight Sensation" is also one the best songs in FireHouse's catalog, and this album also has one of the best opening songs I've ever hear on an album, the fist-pumping "Rock On The Radio".I'm pretty sure only glam metal fans will like this record.

Tracklist:
1.Intro
2.She Wolf
3.Show Me What You Got
4.Move Your Body
5.She's Dangerous
6.To Be Young
7.Doing It
8.Blood On Your Hands
9.Don't Stop
10.Carry On
11.Ride Into The Night

Genre: Glam Metal/Metalcore

Blessed By A Broken Heart started out as a deathcore group before changing their entire line-up and moving towards a glam metal sound. This album combines glam metal shredding guitars and anthem choruses, with metalcore screams and video-game like keyboards. The result is what most people call it "Glamcore".Metalcore fans should like this album, but some glam metal fans might think the vocals are too harsh at times. But on songs like "Don't Stop", "Ride Into The Night", and "To Be Young", that have little to no screams, glam metal fans will be pleased.Standout track is party anthem "Move Your Body".

9.I Could Never Be Without You
10.Finger On The Trigger

Genre: Glam Metal/Power Pop

Enuff Z'Nuff is another extremely underrated glam band. What these guys different is that they add a power pop sound made famous by bands like Cheap Trick. This album is a great listen and another no filler album (although In The Groove is a bit to long). All glam metal and power pop fans will like this record.Highlights include "New Thing", "Fly High Michelle", and "Little Indian Angel"."Little Indian Angel" has to be my favorite though. All in all a great glam metal album with power pop influences.

6.Rock & Roll Overdose
7.Cold Chills
8.Same Jane
9.Pants On Fire (Liar Liar)
10.Hee Bee Jee Bee Crush

Genre: Glam Metal

By the time this came out, glam metal's reign was just about over, with only a few glam hits here and there.Unfortunately for Kix this album didn't get near as much recognition as it deserved. This album is definitely Kix's is most underrated album (though not the best).Standout tracks include the humorously titled "Paints On Fire (Liar Liar)", the sleazy rocker "Girl Money", and rock and roll anthem "Rock & Roll Overdose".The best track on the whole thing though is definitely "Luv-A-Holic", a classic Kix tune right here. All rock fans should enjoy this record.

9.Ultimate Sacrifice

Genre: Progressive Metal

I only just recently discovered this band, and boy are they good! This has to be one of the greatest progressive metal albums ever. The guitars and keyboards on this record are a particular highlight for me.I love the dark nature of this album very much, with highlights including album opener "A Darkened Mind", "Abyss", album epic "Mouth Of Madness" and "Arrival Of Love".This record will please all progressive metal fans, I'm sure of it.I can't help but notice a little Asia-influenced sound on this album (band not continent), most likely from the keyboards."From Childhood's Hour..." has to be the standout track of this album.

This thread would be so much more entertaining if we didn't know a godfuckingawful Bon Jovi album wasn't going to perched at #1 at the end of it.

Hopefully you hear some better music by the time you finish this. Or get hit in the head and realize how cliche' and cheeseball Bon Jovi truly is.

That being said good to see Kix getting some props. I'm all about fun, party bands and my memories from Kix shows are all great ones.

9.Keeper Of The Seven Keys
10.Save Us

Genre: Power Metal

It wasn't till the summer of last year when I went power metal crazy that I checked out Helloween, and all I have to say is I'm glad I did. This album is an incredible album, a power metal classic. That said the first part is better, but that doesn't make this album any less awesome. The only track that doesn't really interest me is "Rise And Fall".All other songs are stellar and I even like the intro.Great tracks here include the fan favorite "I Want Out", 13 and a half minute epic "Keeper Of The Seven Keys", and amazing opener "Eagle Fly Free".My personal favorite is "Dr. Stein".All metal fans will most likely agree that this is one of power metal's best records.Power metal and heavy metal fans alike should like this record.

7.All Against All
8.In The Name Of The Iron Fist
9.Assassin's Of Love
10.Why Can't You Hear Me
11.We Want More
12.Metal Nation

Genre: Glam Metal/Power Metal

Glam metal and power metal are two genres that wouldn't seem to mix well together, but Kissin' Dynamite will make you lose all your doubts. This album is a great metal record, that sounds like Whitesnake meets Hammerfall. The vocals actually sound like power metal at times and glam metal at others, but no matter what they sound like they are amazing.Highlights for me include include the fist-pumping title track, the metal anthem "Metal Nation", and my personal favorite the Whitesnake sounding "Love Me Hate Me".Another particular great track is the Dam Yankees cover "High Enough".It's a hard task to out do possibly one of the greatest rock ballads of all-time, but I think it's safe to say they have.It your a power metal fan, glam metal, or metal fan in general, you should like this record, although the lyrics can be cheesy at times, the name of the track "Assassin's Of Love" alone should convince you of that.Bottom line, this album kicks.

9.So Yeah!!
10.Wild Touch
11.Born To Rock

Genre: Glam Metal

I already pretty much covered everything there is to say about this band in my "Top Ten Glam Metal Revival Albums" thread, but let me just summarize what I said then.Reckless Love is a great glam metal band, that sounds like a combination of Poison, Van Halen, and Def Leppard, with a modern touch. As I have said before whoever doesn't like glam metal won't like this album, and it might be to poppy for some peoples taste. That said this album rocks in every way, shape, and form.Great songs include "Born To Rock", "Back To Paradise", and "Romance", all of which could have been huge in the 80s, with my personnel favorite, and possibly signature song, being "One More Time".This album is chalk-full of Def Leppard harmonies and Van Halen guitar work, with Poison-like lyrics, all great qualities that I like in a glam band. This album ROCKS.

Genre: Glam Metal/AOR

H.e.a.t is one of the leading forces in the glam metal scene in Sweden, as I have said before. This album was huge there, scoring two top 40 hits ("1000 Miles" and "Keep On Dreaming").This album is extremely awesome album that all fans of 80's rock should enjoy. It has a Bon Jovi meets Europe meets Journey kind of sound.Great tracks include opener "There For You", the bluesy "Late Night Lady", and signature song "1000 Miles".The best song on the entire thing though has to be "Keep On Dreaming", which sounds like it belongs in a 80's movie. The only song on here that is not that good is "Cry", because it drags a bit.All in all a great melodic 80's sounding album.

8.Same Side
9.Cats In The Cradle
10.I'll Keep Tryin'
11.Everything About You
12.Madman
13.Mr. Recordman

Genre: Glam Metal

Ugly Kid Joe was probably one of the heaviest bands of the whole glam metal scene (I very lightly call them glam metal). This is the type of music made to tick people off, and whole album has that teenage-80's-garage band type of vibe, which is really unique in my opinion and different than other glam metal bands. All tracks except for "Same Side" are good, with standouts including smash hits "Everything About You" and cover "Cats In The Cradle", along with kicking opener "Neighbor" and mellow closer "Mr. Recordman"."Neighbor" is by far the best track on here, and probably their best song in general. This album will please glam metal fans and maybe some none glam metal fans as well because of it's heavy sound. This album has everything I could ask for in a great album, killer guitar, humorous lyrics, pounding drums, and just a lot of youthful energy!

3.Trash Queen
4.Shokker
5.Kick Down The Walls
6.Alrite With The Boyz
7.Sweet Surrender
8.Law Abuzer
9.Tonite
10.Wreckless

Genre: Glam Metal/Sleaze Rock

Wrathchild where the first sleaze rock band ever formed, and maybe even the first glam metal band in general ever formed. This album rocks from start to finish, with every song being sleazier than the previous one, and also in true sleaze fashion have incorrectly spelled songs ("Stakk Attakk", "Shokker", "Law Abuzer", etc.). To pick a few highlights is not an easy task with this record, but I would have to go with album closer "Wreckless", party-anthem "Alrite With The Boyz", and the best one of the record "Too Wild To Tame".The guitar tone on this album is also worth mentioning, it has a real dirty-fuzz tone that is killer in my opinion, so for those of you who like that sound will like the guitar work on this album.A great record for glam metal/sleaze rock fans, might also attract average metal and rock listeners.

Standout Track:
"Neighbor" http://grooveshark.com/s/Neighbor/1ODUWX?src=5

Strange, I've never considered Ugly Kid Joe to be a glam band. I always saw them like a heavy metal version of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, just in terms of their goofy, care-free image and subject material.

Me and my friend Eric used to love this album back in '93.

U2's style is definitely softer then most of the others on this list, but that doesn't make this album any less rock. From the opener "Sunday Bloody Sunday", to the closer "40", this album is amazing.Highlights include fan favorite "40", the soft-rocker :New Years Day", and my favorite U2 song of all-time "Two Hearts Beat As One".This album most likely will only be enjoyed by fans of softer rock, but that's not saying non-fans of soft rock won't like it though. Everything from the signature shimmering delays of The Edge, to the soothing voice of Bono, is very well done, has a real epic feel it, and it earns it's place as one of my favorite albums of all time.

Blind Guardian are the reason why I like power metal today. They have pretty much earned the title of "THE power metal band", and I support that statement to the fullest. This album is obviously a concept album about Middle Earth, and being the Tolkien fanatic I am I naturally love the idea.Even though the album is a little to heavy on the interludes, is killer as most people already know.Highlights include "Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill", "Nightfall", and "When Sorrow Sang", with the best song being "Mirror Mirror".The guitar playing on this record is some of the best I've heard out of the genre, and is really fun to play if your a guitar player. I'm telling you, it wasn't easy.I wrote down a list awhile back ago, and it was hard deciding if I was going to do it or not, because I'm still always changing on albums places and switching them out for other ones. All I know is that having the list all written down makes it more easier, so if you where to do it, I would recommend doing that.

Genre: Glam Punk/Hard Rock

Hanoi Rocks is a band worthy of legendary status, because they (along with Wrathchild) pretty much started the glam metal genre of the 80's, influencing bands like Motley Crue, Guns 'N Roses, L.A. Guns, etc. They definitely had some great 80's albums that are really rockin', and while most would say their debut "Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks" or "Oriental Beat" is their best album, I have to let the top spot go to their comeback album, "Twelve Shots On The Rocks", which I've also labeled the best comeback of all time.Everything Hanoi Rocks is good at is on here, just with today's production added. The best three songs on the album are ballad the "In My Darkest Moment", hard-hitting rocker "People Like Me" (o how the lyrics to this song are so true), and the best Hanoi Rocks song of all time in my opinion, "A Day Late, A Dollar Short", all three next to each other on the record. This album should please anyone, glam metal fans, hard rock fans, punk fans, even metal fans!

Genre: Glam Metal/Hard Rock

The Darkness brought back glam to the world, at least the commercial side of glam. This is yet another album from my "Glam Metal Revival" thread, and it probably won't be the last either. This is another case in which I covered most of what there's to know about this album previously, but I will summarize it again here. This album rocks in every way, shape, and form, as I've said before (in different words). The driven guitar riffs and drums combined with Justin Hawkins' signature falsetto vocals, make this an album worthy of a listen no matter if you hate glam or love it.Best songs are definitely their claim-to-fame "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", ballad "Love Is Only A Feeling", and my favorite the humorous "Growing On Me".This album, though has it's serious moments, is filled with hilarious lyrics, and should bring about a lough or two.

This is a really good album, start to finish. I usually HATE ballads but the ones on this album are really good.

Back-pedaling through a lot of this now: Big props on Helloween, Blind Guardian, and especially Nocturnal Rites and Circus Maximus. Isolate is a top 25 album of all-time for me. This thread has inspired me to go back and redo my old top 100 list, which I posted here like this well over a year ago. I sort of want to post the new version (in one post, not one-by-one), but don't want to either hijack your thread or bother posting a new topic.

I actually think I'd take No World Order over Powerplant also, but that's not saying that much. That run from Land of the Free through Majestic is of epic proportions, I can't name many bands who put out 5 better consecutive albums.

Yeah, definitely. We're playing the whole album and ending with 3 covers, one of which is "Caught Somewhere in Time" (the guitarist of Draekon is playing it with us), it should be ridiculously epic. It would have been most appropriate to have you up there to play it though - it would be nice to do some Maiden with a competent singer, as opposed to last time.

Tracklist:

2.Black Night (feat. Tobias Sammer)
3.I Can't Look The Other Way
4.Shelter
5.Beg, Beg, Beg
6.Danger Road
7.Stay
8.Everybody Wants To Be Someone
9.Nobody Loves You (Like I Do)
10.I Know What It Takes
11.Cast Away
12.High On Love
13.Who Will Stop The Rain

Genre: Glam Metal/AOR

H.e.a.t is one of the best bands to come out of the Swedish glam metal scene, as I've said before. This album is an easy contender for best AOR album of all time, with a true 80's feel surrounding the whole album.Guitar players Dave Dalone and Eric Rivers are some of the most underrated guitar players of all time, with killer riffs in songs like "High On Love" and "Danger Road".Singer Kenny Leckremo also has a great 80's voice that is executed quite well on this album.Another thing worth mentioning is the guest appearance of Tobias Sammet on "Black Night", which surprised me a little when I first heard it.Highlights include 80's ready rockin' single "Beg, Beg, Beg", epic album closer "Who Will Stop The Rain", and the ballad "Cast Away", by far the best song on the album. To summarize, this album is an AOR masterpiece.

10.I Love The Dead

Genre: Shock Rock/Hard Rock

Alice Cooper is the king of the genre "Shock Rock", with stage features including guillotines, electric chairs, baby dolls, etc., point is he knows how to scare people. This album is a classic record, as most people would agree, with great anthems and 70's rock guitar riffing.Highlights include the sometimes overlooked "Generation Landslide", the necrophilia inspired song "I Love The Dead", and the best song on here, "No Mr. Nice Guy".There's not much more to say about this album other than it rocks and everyone who calls themselves a rock fan should enjoy it.

9.Dear Friends
10.Misfire
11.Bring Back That Leroy Brown
12.She Makes Me (Stormtrooper On Stilettos)
13.In The Lap Of The Gods....Revisited

Genre: Classic Rock

Queen were one of my favorite bands when I was younger, and I continue to love them to this day.Choosing a favorite Queen album is no easy task, considering 90% of there stuff is worthy of classic status (except for Flash Gordon and Hot Space). This has to be my third favorite Queen album, and it definitely won't be last one to make this list. The combination of Bryan May's stellar guitar playing and awesome tone, Roger Tyler's incredible drum playing, John Deacons strong bass rhythms, and of course Freddie Mercury's legendary singing abilities, make this an album most rock and metal fans should enjoy.A lot of fans will agree that there's something about Queen
s early stuff that makes it better than anything else (save for one or two albums).Highlights include the guitar bombastic rockers "Brighton Rock" and "Stone Cold Crazy", and the epic closer "In The Lap Of The Gods....Revisited".

Cinderella are one of my favorite bands of all-time, so this album is certainly not going to be the last featured by this glam quartet.Cinderella was always slightly different from the other glam bands at the time, having a more blues rock groove to there sound, and I pretty much think there only straight up glam album is this one.Tom Keifer is one great vocalist, using a more grittier vocal style then most other glam bands. The standouts are very obvious here, the slow, but rockin' title-track, the classic glam anthem "Shake Me", and possibly one of the best ballads of all-time "Nobody's Fool",not to say the rest of the album is not good though. The only song I don't like on here is "Push Push", but the rest of the album is so good that doesn't matter. What I also love about Cinderella is that they right some of the best ballads, they always sound like true art to me.So listen to this album if you already haven't, because It's killer.

Aerosmith are another band that, at one point, were my favorite band, I think most people that like rock will go through that phase at some point. This album won't be their last to make this list, so don't go on a rampage. This is probably my second favorite comeback album of all-time, and even though "Done With Mirrors" was technically a comeback, it was, as we all know, a flop. This album is pretty much an all killer no filler album, save for maybe "The Movie".Standouts include the blues rocker "Hangman Jury", power ballad "Angel", and the excellent cover of The Beatles "I'm Down".The best song on the whole thing though is definitely the party jamming title-track.I could go into how awesome Steve and Joe are, but that would just take forever to do.Let's just say there both incredibly awesome on this record, not to ignore the awesomeness of Joey, Brad, and Tom though.A great record that all rock fans should enjoy.

Yet another new generation glam band from my glam revival thread, that has earned a pot on this list.Hardcore Superstar is basically the Love/Hate of today's generation, but also like Motley Crue in the sense that they pump out rock anthem hits left and right (in Sweden that is).All songs on here are extremely good, except for the average "She's Offbeat".Standout tracks include another one of the best openers on album I've heard, "Kick On The Upperclass", as well as Motley-drenched "Wild Boys", and the Love/Hate sounding tracks "We Don't Celebrate Sundays" and "My Good Reputation".These guys are definitely my second favorite new glam band, with this album being there best and one I consider a classic.

Come to think of it you're right, they should have released it as a single, that way it could have been popular and it would give a better chance for them to play it live.I always thought it would be a great opener to.

Genre: Glam Metal/Funk Metal

Extreme is also like Winger is the sense that they never are really given enough credit they deserve when it comes to talent.I mean their most popular songs are acoustic ballads, and the shredding guitar style that makes Extreme so great is not showcased well on those type of songs. They are definitely different from the rest of the glam metal bands because they bring a funk sound to their music, which seems to fit well with glam.I also love the overall childhood theme this record has, save for the crucifixion inspired ballad "Watching, Waiting", and the only stinker on the album "Flesh 'N' Blood".Highlights include the anti -bully song "Kid Ego", the extremely funky "Teacher's Pet", and one of the best songs Nuno does on guitar "Play With Me".The top song though definitely has to be "Mutha (Don't Wanna Go To School Today)".A excellent debut album from Boston's second greatest band.

Europe, like Winger, are also extremely underrated and are likely to get bashed, and do you know why? it's all because they released one bad song that got really popular, and everyone refuses to give any of there other stuff a chance even though they are told by Europe fans constantly that none of their other stuff sounds like that.I'm just going to say right here and now, there really isn't a bad Europe album, all are good, no matter how bad "The Final Countdown" (song not album) is.All that said, this is Europe being a more straight up hard rock band, other than a glam or power metal band, and it's a very excellent record. The only song I don't like is "Got Your Mind In The Gutter".The standouts are the title-track, the highly underrated rocker "Little Bit Of Lovin'", and my favorite, the classic AOR sounding "Halfway To Heaven".This is a very underrated record in all, and if you refuse to listen to it because of just one bad song you heard, then I feel sorry for you. This is also not going to be the last Europe album to make my list.

The Beatles were once my favorite group, but I eventually moved on back to glam metal bands, as well as other metal and rock bands.Anyway, I do still have to admit that this album played an important roll in my music life, so I have to put it on here. This album is arguably the best Beatles record, of course some people will fight and say "Abbey Road" or "Sgt. Pepper", I think this is The Beatles at their strongest, and to be honest I don't like Sgt. Pepper all that much anyway. The only song on here I don't like, and never have liked since I can remember, is "Yellow Submarine".Standouts include "Taxman" possibly George Harrison's finest moment on both guitar and vocals, the groovy "Got To Get You Into My Life", and my favorite Beatles song "And Your Bird Can Sing".This album will only please people who like catchy, melodic, pop rock tunes mixed in with a little psychedelic
elements here and there (and everywhere :D).

TSO is a extremely talented band, with multiple guitar players, vocalists, piano players, etc., as most people know.To pick the best TSO album is not an easy task, because each album they have is a masterpiece in their own right. But I have to go with this one. There is no filler, lots of instrumentals (which I've always enjoyed more), great guitar playing, great piano and keyboard playing, and pretty much everything else that's great about TSO. One of my dreams for a long time has been to see this album played in it's entirety live, which they did for the first time this past tour, but I didn't get to go.Let's hope they do the same next year though. The highlights are definitely the awesome instrumental "Siberian Sleigh Ride", one of the best vocal songs in TSO history "Christmas Canon Rock", and my all-time favorite TSO song, the instrumental "Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)".So, this is a really great album, because it attracts Christmas music lovers, metal and rock lovers, and even opera lovers. My grandparents even like this band, but my friends that love rock also like them.Everyone should check this out.

I just listened to that Danger Danger song and it was pretty damn awesome. :rocker: This Winger song is actually pretty good so far. I usually just assumed that Winger sucked because the nerdy kid from Beavis and Butt-head had a Winger shirt.

.By this time you probably know that I love power ballads :D

Not an assault on your opinion, but :barf:. I can't stand 99% of power ballads.

It's ok, I've just always loved power ballads for some reason. And unfortunately that's what a lot of people think about Winger for that reason, not giving their other stuff enough credit.

Van Halen was at one point like many of the bands on this list, my favorite band.Van Halen is my favorite guitar players and was inspiration to start playing guitar. Therefore they will be multiple inclusions of their albums on my list, I would say about one or two more albums will make the list. This album is a killer classic rock album, with great vocals, drums, guitar, and bass, as to be expected with any Van Halen album."You're No Good" I could have done without, but it's not a bad cover though. The highlights are the acoustic guitar solo "Spanish Fly", the summertime anthem "Beautiful Girls", and my favorite, the rocker "Somebody Get Me A Doctor".A great rock album, and everyone should check it out if they haven't already.

Well considering glam metal is my all-time FAVORITE genre, you should expect for this list to be filled with glam metal albums.I love the guitar talented, the tone of the singers, and just the overall anthemic and happy feeling in most glam metal's songs. Not to say I don't love serious stuff to.Bands like Skid Row, Motley Crue, and L.A. Guns are all about sleaze and/or danger, witch I really like as well. But bands like Poison, Warrant, and White Lion are just about having fun, but are all serious when it's needed.Poison is a perfect example and is really somewhat an underrated band in this community, because they get judged by songs like "Unskinnny Bop" and "Nothin' But A Good Time", but they actually have great serious songs like "Fallen Angel", "Life Goes On", and "Stand".So I don't think you're giving a lot of glam bands a chance, just my opinion though. On a side note, glam rock and glam metal are two different genres.Example: Sweet, glam rock. Poison, glam metal.

Journey, yet another legendary rock band that makes this list, more than once I should tell you. This album is a killer album, with no filler songs, and the re-release is even better because it adds four great tracks.Neal Schon is one the greatest guitar players of all time, and Steve Perry is definitely one of the most talented vocalists of all time as well.Journey is also another band that was my favorite band at some point in my life.I always knew "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Any Way You Want It", but it was "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" that really got me hooked on Journey.Highlights include of course the opener "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)", the ballad "Send Her My Love", and the underrated "Edge Of The Blade".I really suggest everyone listen to this album, especially the highly underrated second half.

Music doesnt have to be serious. I just think glam anything is too cheesy and concerned with the appeal. Not a fan of the lyrics either and I find it too repetitive, dull and cut and paste. I used like Motley Crue though haha Anyways to each their own. Cool thread none the less. :fist:

Well everyone has there own opinion of course.I personally always liked the image, as long as it wasn't too girly (I'm not crazy about early era Poison image).Bands only used that image so that could get noticed and get the recognition they deserve, but unfortunately some people look at glam bands and write them off as "garbage" just because of their image and never listen to the music.Anyway, hope you find some stuff you like in this thread and hopefully give the glam bands you haven't heard a chance.Keep on rockin':rocker:

so far my only comment is, if there's a Bon Jovie album at the top of this glam heap it had better be slippery when wet... say what you want but that album kicks ass.

Genre: Christian Metal/Heavy Metal/Glam Metal

Stryper is another extremely underrated band, and too me are actually the heaviest glam metal band of the 80's ( besides Motley and Skid Row of course).I was introduce to this band when I was 9 years old, my dad thought I would like them because they where Christians yet had a glam metal sound. Most people say To Hell With The Devil is their best work, but I prefer this album to any of their others. The only not so good song on here is "First Love".The highlights include the classic Stryper rocker "The Rock That Makes Me Roll", the 80's hit that never was "(Waiting For) A Love That's Real", and the best song on the whole thing, the heavy metal assault title-track.Michael Sweet's operatic vocals are as great as can be, the combination of Michael's and Oz's guitars are top notch, with Tim and Robert keeping a steady beat and rhythm.A killer metal album with Christian themes.

It's like what I said, this truly is NEW glam metal, it has the sound and puts a modern spin on it.At first I didn't think so, but with repeated listens it became clear to me that this definitely glam metal.Songs that have it the most are "Rebel Love Song", "Fallen Angels", "Set The World On Fire", "Die For You", and the chorus of "The Legacy".The image is definitely glam though.Wretched is good to, and I still see the glam sound on that one as much as it is on this one.Wikipedia labels this, Rebels, and Wretched as glam metal, and also uses glam metal as the bands main genre. They sound a lot like W.A.S.P. in my opinion.

Faster Pussycat was one of the first sleaze rock bands to come into existence. They came around the same time Guns N' Roses did, and well, as we all know GnR got to stardom first, which led to having Faster Pussycat's incredible debut go unknown.Whoever likes GnR will like Faster Pussycat, I'm sure of it, especially this album. This easily contends for one of the best debut albums of all-time.It's classic glam anthems have a real "Rock N' Roll" feel to it, and the sleazy vocals of Taime Downe and the killer guitar riffs of Greg Steele and Brent Muscat are outstanding. The highlights are the opener "Don't Change That Song", the true L.A. feeling rocker "City Has No Heart", and my favorite, the sleaze anthem "Cathouse".This band is one of the most underrated bands of all time, and this album needs to be listened to by all rock fans.

Queensryche is another band that once was my favorite band, and I can safely say this is their second best album, and definitely their most underrated.I always hated that Queensryche's early stuff is often overlooked, because this album truly is a masterpiece.Geoff's vocals are really great here, and of course the guitars of both Chris and Michael are top notch here as always.Highlights include fantastic opener "Walk In The Shadows", the extremely underrated "Surgical Strike", and the best song on the entire record, "The Whisper".Picking a second favorite Queensryche record is not the easiest thing in the whole world to do, because theirs three other strong contenders, but this takes the spot just because to me this is when Queensryche fully developed their progressive sound. Not much more to say other than this is an incredible progressive metal output that any progressive fan should listen to.

White Lion was one of the first bands that I really got into. This album was a huge inspiration for me on my guitar playing, wanting to learn all songs on this record at that time. The guitar style of Vito Bratta is a lot similar to Eddie Van Halen, tapping very frequently, and is even on par with Eddie most of the time when it comes to skill. The drums pound loud on this record, all because of the great drummer Greg D'Angelo.Bass player James Lomenzo keeps a great steady rhythm, as all glam metal bass players do.Of course Mike Tramp's incredible vocals are always great to listen to. He sometimes sounds like he's off-key but he makes sound great.Highlights include mega-hit "Wait", highly underrated "All You Need Is Rock N' Roll", and my favorite, the "troubled child" song "Lonely Nights".This albums is a 80's glam masterpiece, and everyone should check it out.

Vito: 1 of only 3 guitarists I can think of that used EMG pickups and had an awesome tone. I hear he quit playing because he fucked up his wrist permanently or something. Too bad, he would've been the next EVH if he continued.

One seriously underrated band is W.A.S.P., possibly one of the heaviest bands on the Sunset Strip during the 80's.Pretty much all their albums are killer, even the new ones. This isn't the only one that will make this list either.Blackie Lawless is one of my favorite vocalists because of the raw energy in his voice. The guitar players Chris Holmes and Randy Piper are also of course stellar on this record, with a great style going along with the "Less is more" direction with the riffs and chords, but totally ripping on the solos.Highlights include "Wild Child" (one of the best metal anthems of all-time), the really underrated song "Jack Action", and my favorite the also highly underrated take-no-prisoners song "Running Wild In The Streets".

I never was much into Foreigner until I saw them live, and ever since I saw that awesome live show I have become a fan.The first four Foreigner albums are all great in their own right, but this album definitely has to make the top spot for me.Lou Gramm's voice has a very nice tone to it, and the incredibly talented Mick Jones is always a thing to enjoy. This album definitely one of the first "80's" sounding albums, a sound that previous album "Head Games" had as well, and probably was one of the first to have as well.Standout tracks include classic 80's rock anthem "Juke Box Hero", the great power ballad "Waiting For A Girl Like You", and my favorite Foreigner song of all time, the underrated opener "Night Life".A great rock record for fans of the 80's rock sound, with maybe one filler song ("Women In Black").

One of my first pieces of music when I was a kid. Thought it was a strong album from start to finish, and still a guilty pleasure now even though I'm more of a fan of heavy metal and hard rock.

Enjoying your list by the way, very cool!

8.Interlude/Everywhere I Go
9.Bits And Pieces
10.Will You Love Me?

Genre: Glam Metal/AOR

The guiltiest of all the guilty pleasures has landed a 54 spot on this list, and is probably the closes thing to pop on this list.I had first heard of the name "Nelson" little less than a year ago, and I never really was interested in listening to them at that time. Then about 3-4 months ago I was searching for my dad's Richie Sambora records in this shelf full of CD's, and I found a picture to the back of a album that looked like a hair band.So I picked it up and it turned out to be this album.I thought what the heck and went ahead and put it on my computer.I was really amazed and it instantly became a favorite CD of mine, with me playing it at least 2-3 times a day. This album will not appeal to many that don't like this type of cheesy AOR glam stuff, but I'm not afraid to say I do.Highlights include ballad "Tracy's Song/Only Time Will Tell", the uplifting hit title-track, and my favorite, the classic melodic rock sounding "Bits And Pieces", which is possibly one the most underrated glam metal songs of all-time.

Genre: Glam Metal

Warrant is pretty much in the same boat that bands like Poison are in, in the sense they are the main ones people think about when they here the term "glam metal", the ones that make certain people cringe. But I like stuff that a lot of people tend to cringe at.Warrant might be one of the biggest acts to come out of the late glam-era, and the first album is definitely their best (even though "Dog Eat Dog" was pretty impressive). The signature rock anthems and huge power ballads are what Warrant excel at.The guitar riffs of Joey Allen and Erik Turner work well with Jani Lanes vocals (R.I.P.).Highlights include signature ballad "Heaven", great rocker "Down Boys" and the underrated "Big Talk".This is a glam metal paradise.

Genre: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal

Tesla, probably one of the best bands that's considered a hair band but isn't.I mean seriously, why do people insist on calling Tesla a glam metal act when they are obviously just a regular hard rock/heavy metal band? Whatever the answer is it's wrong. Now that I've disgusts how they're not a hair band, let's get down to the album.First off, Jeff Keith has one of the best voices in rock 'n' roll, period.Second, the duel guitar bombast of Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch is definitely the best parts of the album.Standouts include western inspired rocker "Modern Day Cowboy", the best song guitar wise Tesla's ever done "Comin' Atcha Live", and my favorite, the seriously underrated "Love Me".If you like straight up hard rock and/or heavy metal, then this is the album for you.

Genre: Heavy Metal/Power Metal

I have labeled Europe THE most underrated band on the planet.Everyone labels them as bad band because they only listen to "The Final Countdown" and refuse to give anything else a chance.Well, I feel sorry for you because this album is truly a heavy metal album with power metal influences.Joey Tempest's vocals are outstandin, along with John Norum's guitars are killer and probably at their best on this album.Tony Reno's drum playing and John Leven's bass skill are both also pretty good on this record, providing extra power metal punch.Standouts include opener "Stormwind", soothing ballad "Dreamer", and the best one "Wasted Time".This is Europe's best album, and every metal fan should check it out.

Genre: Glam Metal/Heavy Metal

Some might think this album is overrated. Some might think it's Whitesnake selling out.And others (including me), say that this is one of the greatest rock/metal albums ever recorded. I know there are those of you who probably don't want to hear "Still Of The Night" or "Here I Go Again" ever again, but you need to go deeper into the album to find it's incredible gems. The combination of David Coverdale and John Sykes is a perfect one that unfortunately was only shown on this album.Standouts include mid-pace opener "Crying In The Rain", the underrated "Straight For The Heart", and the sometimes overlooked "Give Me All Your Love".So metal fans and rock fans need to whip this one back out and give it a complete listen, and prepare to be amazed.

I'm sure that Whitesnake album was called 1987. Maybe just in the UK? It is a great record, it's just that past Whitesnake records were much more 'pure' blues based. Coverdale changed almost the whole band and aimed it fair and square at the american market (ie sales). It worked for him, but in the process alienated alot of older fans who were less than impressed by the new mainstream approach.
Being born in '72, I grew up through the whole glam rock explosion and this thread brings back many memories for me even though Judas Priest will forever remain my favorite band (btw did you see what they looked like around 'Turbo'!!!!!!!!!!).
Dunno if you ever got Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction in the US. If not check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtnCcWOS7y8. If you did I expect to see the first album in the top 20.
Great thread. Just one thing, could you put the release year on your reviews?

You are correct, in the US it was just called Whitesnake. Great album and I agree that it's too bad the Coverdale/Sykes team didn't last longer. I missed out on the earlier Whitesnake blues rock sound at the time and was introduced to the band via this album, and was just floored by the sound and the songs.
I am surprised this isn't higher on your list, can't wait to see what's next!

Genre: Rock/Metal

Queen's second entry in my list of top 100 albums, is one that is definitely a metal record and probably one of the first metal records ever made. The many different vocal and guitar parts that Queen is known for is taken to the extreme on this album. All four players are incredibly talented at what they do.Brian May has shredding guitars aplenty, Freddie Mercury gives stellar vocal performances, Roger Taylor pounds on the drums, and John Deacon's awesome skill at the bass is shown on this album as well.Highlights include possibly the first speed metal song ever "Ogre Battle", the bombastic epic "The March Of The Black Queen", and the best and possibly most known song on the album "Seven Seas Of Rhye".This isn't Queen's best album, but it sure comes close.

Genre: Glam Metal/Sleaze Rock

With a name like Crashdiet, I didn't expect much when I first went to listen them.Well, all I can say is that I was completely blown away with this band.Crashdiet, along with Hardcore Superstar, are really the first bands that started the Swedish Glam Metal movement (I really hope I get to visit there one day). This album is one that should have been bigger than it was in the states, and unfortunately you can't get your hands on a copy here without ordering online. If your reading this Crashdiet, PLEASE release this and The Unattractive Revolution on ITunes. All that said, this album is true glam metal, sounding like GnR meets Skid Row.Dave Leppard (R.I.P) was incredible on this album, along with the awesome guitar player Martin Sweet, phenomenal drum player Eric Young, and solid bassist Peter London.Highlights include the power ballad "It's A Miracle", the perfect closer "Back On Trakk", and the best song on the album, the fist-pumping anthem "Riot In Everyone".

6.Lighting Strikes
7.Killer Of Giants
8.Fool Like You
9.Shot In The Dark

Genre: Heavy Metal

If you ask Ozzy fans what his best record is, your most likely gonna get either "Blizzard Of Ozz" or "No Rest For The Wicked".While both are extremely great records, my favorite definitely has to be "The Ultimate Sin".The guitar playing by Jake E. Lee is a real great feature of this album, with "Shot In The Dark" having one of the best solos of all-time.This whole album is killer, except for "Never Know Why", but the the rest of the album is great it overcomes this one bad song.Randy Castillo's incredible drumming is also worth mentioning.Standouts include the killer title-track, super underrated "Killer Of Giants", and the best Ozzy song of all-time, the before mentioned "Shot In The Dark".Even though many consider this Ozzy's worst album, I think it's the best and is one of the most underrated metal records out there.

My first hard rock album ever. It holds up better than most people think.

Shot In The Dark, the title track and Lightning Strikes are all heavy as fuck metal classics. Secret Loser, despite the dumb title, just had that killer groove (back when it wasn't Slipknot faggots on pogo sticks) that just smashed your head against a glass table like William Holden. And Killer of Giants just might be the best epic Ozzy was ever associated with solo wise.

The Ultimate Sin is a great album. Shot In The Dark was the song that got me into metal. I remember seeing the video as a kid back when it came out and it was the first metal song I ever liked and the song that introduced me to the genre. That song forever holds the most special place in my heart.

Genre: Glam Metal

Poison is one of the most shunned bands of the glam metal genre, considering they did take the image to an extreme. The image I can understand hating, but the music I don't know how you can hate.I mean, it's fun, uplifting rock n' roll, what the heck is wrong with that? Now that I've said why Poison is a good band, it's time to get down to the album.First off, the image of the band changed to a less glam appearance.Second, most of the album has a more serious, darker approach then most of their other stuff, but the fun side of the band is still shown in about 3 or 4 tracks. All four members (Bret, C.C., Bobby, Rikki) are at their best and most mature on this album.Highlights include possibly the most underrated song in Poison history "Valley Of Lost Souls", the incredible forgotten hit ballad "Life Goes On", and of course my personnel favorite "Ride The Wind".Most people don't like this record, but those that love glam metal will most likely love this. You can live without Poison, but why would you?

Genre: Rock

The album that is on this spot is probably the biggest oddball in a list of metal albums, being that this is more of a home-on-the-range feeling rock album.NEEDTOBREATHE are also sometimes falsely characterized as a Christian rock band. They are not, they are just a rock band with Christian members.Even though I am a Christian, I don't really like a band that calls themselves a "Christian rock band", because when you're a "Christian rock"band, that limits the audience and writing. But I'm not going to go into that right now.Right now, I'm going to discuss one really great album by a really great band: NEEDTOBREATHE.This album to me really has a Black Crowes vibe to it.All four members are great at what they do.Bear Rinehart's vocals are extremely unique, Bo Rinehart's bluesy/country style guitar's add to the over all Black Crowes feel, Seth Bolt's bass skill is incredible and his backing vocals are really great as well, and drummer Joe Stillwell has great drum tone on this album.Highlights include one of the most uplifting rock tracks ever "Let Us Love", and the two most bluesy Black Crowes sounding tracks "Prisoner" and "Girl Named Tennessee".

Alice Cooper, the king of shock rock, has again landed a spot on this list. While "Billion Dollar Babies" is a great record, this one has to be the best Alice album of all-time.Some call it a glam album, I really think it's a heavy metal album. This is definitely one underrated album, and it's filled with musical guest including Mick Mars, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Slash, Vinnie Moore, Nikki Sixx, and Ozzy Osbourne. This is the first Alice Cooper album that I listened to start to finish and ever since then I've loved it.Standouts include the anit-drug title track anthem, the odd "Wind-Up Toy", and the best Alice song in my opinion, and possibly most underrated, "Snakebite".So check this album out, you won't regret it.

4.Leather Rebel
5.Metal Meltdown
6.Night Crawler
7.Between The Hammer & The Anvil
8.A Touch Of Evil
9.Battle Hymn
10.One Shot At Glory

Genre: Heavy Metal/Speed Metal

This is the record that got me into Priest, and so I declare it their best album of all-time.I never really was into Priest before a couple months ago, and one day I decided I should check it out.It has a killer album cover, and most of the time if I see a album that I've never heard before, that has a good album cover, I will want to listen to it.I don't know why, but that's how I think.Anyway, this album is one of the greatest metal albums period, and that is pretty much all there is to say.Standouts include the stellar title-track, the killer anthem "Leather Rebel", and the best priest song of all-time imo, "One Shot At Glory".

Standout Track:

Atta boy! :rocker: The scary thing about this album is that it was in a way, kind of contrived. Throughout the 1980s Priest were pandering to a target audience really, and at the time Painkiller was almost like Priest's Death Magnetic. Hell, I'd argue that Nostradamus was the first Priest album with Halford singing since Stained Class where they wrote what they wanted to hear instead of what everyone else wanted to hear. I honestly think that Glenn and KK exerted little to no effort writing the songs on Painkiller, to them it was probably super easy. They probably could have written and released an album closely resembling Painkiller (honestly, I'm convinced the title track was their way of updating Exciter to 1990 standards) any time after 1978, and if they did, Priest would have been hailed as the direct creators of thrash instead of Metallica or Exodus.

Yea I do agree.Especially on the Exciter thing.I can also see how the writing good have been easy as well.

Year Of Release: 1987

Tracklist:

2.I'm Alive
3.A Little Time
4.Twilight Of The Gods
5.A Tale That Wasn't Right
6.Future World
7.Halloween
8.Follow The Sign

Genre: Power Metal

My first exposure to power metal was when I was 9 years old.I was listening to the "Arena Rock" channel on Comcast, when "Halloween" came on.I liked it, but never decided to go any deeper into the genre until the summer of last year.I wasn't really wanting to listen Helloween that much at first, for reasons I don't remember. But one day I decided to listen to this album and immediately I was blown away. This record is definitely Helloween's best, even though the second part is pretty good to.But since this is the record that got me into Helloween, I gotta go with this one.Anthem "Future World" has to be the bands trademark song (correct me if I'm wrong), and is certainly on heck of a metal anthem. Other Highlights include opener "I'm Alive", epic "Halloween", and my favorite Helloween song "A Little Time".

5.Sick For The Cure
6.One For Rock And Roll
7.Dead Man's Road
8.Make Your Own Way
9.Electric Love
10.Love Gone Bad
11.Winds Of Change

Genre: Blues Rock

By their third album, Cinderella completed their transformation from a glam metal band to a straight up blues rock band. This results in an album that sounds like Aerosmith meets The Rolling Stones meets Neil Young. This is probably Cinderella's finest moment lyrically wise, and for a time it was my favorite record by them, but you will see how that changed later.Anyway, on this album Tom Keifer vocals are excellent, Jeff LaBar is as good as ever on guitar, Eric Brittingham keeps a steady rhythm, Fred Coury also keeps a good solid wall of sound and his drum tone is awesome.Standouts include the vastly underrated "Love's Got Me Doin' Time", and the New Orleans-feeling rockers "Sick For The Cure" and "Shelter Me".If you refuse to listen to this album because you think it's a glam metal album, then it's your lose.

6.Lack Of Communication
7.Back For More
8.The Morning After
9.I'm Insane
10.Scene Of The Crime

Genre: Glam Metal/Heavy Metal

Ratt was one of the first bands to appear out of the LA glam metal scene, and also one of the first glam metal bands I ever listened to, so expect at least one more album from them on this list. All five members of this group are some of the best of what they do.Stephen Pearcy has a unique vocal tone that sounds off-key at times but for some reason sounds incredibly awesome.Bobby Blotzer kicks on the drums just as good as any great drummer out there.Juan Croucier does what is needed and provides a great rhythm for the rest of the band. Both Warren DeMartini and Robin Crosby are some of the best guitar players in the world IMO.Standouts from this glam metal classic include driving opener "Wanted Man", the underrated rocker "The Morning After", and my favorite, the heavy metal assault "I'm Insane".

2.You Give Love A Bad Name
3.Livin' On A Prayer
4.Social Disease
5.Wanted Dead Or Alive
6.Raise Your Hands
7.Without Love
8.I'd Die For You
9.Never Say Goodbye
10.Wild In The Streets

Genre: Glam Metal

Bon Jovi, my favorite band. This album is probably "THE" glam metal album, with every aspect of the genre shown on here, and it sky-rocketed glam to the highest it could possibly go.Hits like "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "You Give Love A Bad Name", and "Livin' On A Prayer" might me played to death, but they no doubt show what glam was best at, and that is big anthems. Now I once read a review on this album that said the three hits are excellent, but the rest of the album is mediocre.Never have I heard a more untrue statement. On the contrary, the rest of the album is for the most part better than the hits.Richie Sambora is one of my favorite guitarist of all-time because of his bluesy style, David Bryan is an excellent keyboard player, Tico Torres is an incredible drummer, Alec John Such is as good as can be on this album, and Jon Bon Jovi, though not the best singer in the world, is definitely a great one, and has good tone to his voice.Standouts include ballad "Never Say Goodbye", the fun-fueled rock anthem "Raise Your Hands", and possibly one of the most underrated songs of all time "Wild In The Streets".

6.Armageddon It
7.Gods Of War
8.Don't Shoot Shotgun
9.Run Riot
10.Hysteria
11.Excitable
12.Love And Affection

Genre: Hard Rock

Def Leppard is probably my third favorite band, so expect more from them higher on up as well. Now Hysteria is an album that a lot of people find overrated, and at times, so do I.When you look at Def Leppard''s sets, they have ALWAYS played all 6 hits on this record, so that's what really helps makes this album feel overrated. But, when you actually go back and listen to the hits, you realize they were hits for a reason. Not to mention the extremely underrated second half. This album is also one of the most expensive albums ever made, and it took a good 4 years to write.Production wise, I have to say this is one of the best albums ever made. Not to say the vocals and instruments are bad though, because they certainly aren't.Rick Allen is possibly my favorite drummer of all time, Rick Savage handles the bass really well, Joe Elliot has massive vocal talent on this record, and the legendary duo of Phil Collen and Steve Clark is extraordinary as can be.Highlights include the stellar title-track, the EXTREMELY underrated "Excitable", and the best song of the whole record, the anti-war anthem "Gods Of War"

10.Snakes In Paradise
11.Damaged Kid
12.Excited
13.Garden Of Babylon
14.Liquid Jesus (Itunes bonus track)

Genre: Glam Metal/Sleaze Rock

Crashdiet is easily a top ten band for me, and this album is easily the best of 2013 so far IMO.On this album, the band change the approach of their previous record "Generation Wild", which focused on incredible production, to a more rawer, less polished sound. To me it makes a huge statement and slaps modern rock bands in the face and shows them how it should be.Simon Cruz's vocals are awesome on here, going for a imperfection sound, while Eric Young remains one of my favorite drummers of all time, and Peter London provides a strong backbone for Martin Sweet's incredible guitar licks and riffs. The only thing that could of made this album better is to have made the backing vocals just a little better.Standouts include heart-pumping opener "Change The World", the true 80's sounding anthem "Sin City", and my favorite, the pounding "Anarchy".Those who think glam metal is dead, need to think again, because Crashdiet, and many, many others, are bringing it back (trust me, they're more glam metal bands now then they were back then).

4.Merry-Go-Round
5.Take Me To The Top
6.Piece Of Your Action
7.Starry Eyes
8.Too Fast For Love
9.On With The Show

Genre: Heavy Metal

Motley Crue was one of the first hair bands to ever appear on the earth, along side Wrathchild and Hanoi Rocks.Motley was probably the heaviest of the three, and definitely one of the heaviest hair bands of them all. This record is not glam metal though, it's just straight up raw heavy metal.Vince Neil's voice fits this type of music perfectly, Mick Mars's guitar playing is really good, not to flashy though, at least on this record, and Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee keep a good strong rhythm on this as well.Highlights include the slower ballad-like track "Merry-Go-Round", the incredible closer "On With The Show", and one the best Crue songs of all time "Live Wire".The only thing I don't like on this record is the chorus of "Come On And Dance", goodness gracious that chorus is annoying.

If Too Fast for Love is considered glam, then it's easily my favorite glam metal album ever. If not, then it's still a fucking awesome metal album. This album's got way more energy than other Mötley Crüe records, and I like that there are no brainless power ballads like Home Sweet Home on it. Also listening to Live Wire brings back fond memories of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, so bonus points for that.

For all their frills, the guitar sound of the first two Motley Crue albums were Morbid Tales before Morbid Tales. Super heavy and raw!

I was kind of let down after I discovered Live Wire was a ripoff of Let There Be Rock though. But it's kind of made up for with Piece of Your Action, which just fucking rules.

Genre: Thrash Metal

The only thrash band I am a "Fan" of is Metallica.I don't know what it is about other thrash bands, maybe it's just because I was exposed to Metallica at the time I was discovering rock and metal music.I mean some Megadeth I like, and I actually like some Overkill, but that's about the extent of it.But anyway I think this is by no doubt Metallica's best album, with James, Lars, Cliff, and Kirk at their best.8 killer tracks and no filler whatsoever, and being the only thrash album to make my list, it truly says something about it.Standouts include the classic take-no-prisoners metal assault "Fight Fire With Fire", the haunting "For Whom The Bell Tolls", and my all-time favorite Metallica song "Fade To Black".

Genre: Progressive Metal

I found about Savatage through Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and thought I'd check them out because I thought they would sound like TSO. Well, I was wrong, they sound way better. Not to say that TSO is bad, it's just with TSO I really only loved the instrumentals, but when I heard Jon Olivia's vocals the first time I knew he was a great singer. So I started digging deeper and fell in love with most of their albums (even Zachary's records). This album, while not their best in my opinion, is so incredibly awesome, with a good fantasy-story like vibe to it.Standouts include the breathtaking title-track, the killer opener "24 Hours Ago", and personnel favorite, the sometime overlooked "Strange Wings".A true progressive metal masterpiece.
