Thought I'd start this thread.
Just saw Stand Up Guys today and it is great. Pacino and Walken are perfect together.
I'll end up giving it a good 8/10.

So far I've seen Texas Chainsaw 3D (sucked), A Haunted House (meh), and Mama (surprisingly not bad at all).
I'm most looking forward to Evil Dead. Has anyone else seen the red band trailer?
Also S-VHS (sequel to V/H/S) has directors from Hobo With a Shotgun and The Raid: Redemption so I'm pretty pumped for it even if I thought the first was disappointing.

That new Evil Dead trailer is sick but i'm remaining doubtful, I don't want to get hyped up only to be disappointed.
I haven't been to the movies yet this month but I want to see The Last Stand.

I saw The Last Stand on Friday. It was a fucking great B-action movie (one of the better ones to come in the past few years tbh.) Definitely a fitting comeback for Schwarzenegger.
I also saw Gangster Squad which was also a really good and entertaining action movie with an excellent cast.

I'm looking forward to:
Iron Man 3
Thor 2
Pacific Rim
Kick Ass 2
Place Beyond the Pines
Star Treck: Into Darkness
The World's End
World War Z
Ender's Game
Sin City 2
Warm Bodies
Monsters University
Machete Kills
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
Anchorman 2
Jack Ryan

Texas Chainsaw was decent. I think I liked it more since I am a die hard fan of the series. 3D sucked though.
Evil Dead I think will be great because they aren't holding back on anything for the movie.
I still really want to see Gangster Squad.

I'm a bit late but I saw Django Unchained tonight. I didn't really like it. The violence was gratuitus (sp) but got a little too over the top. And it seemed to me a few times like it didn't know what genre it wanted to be. It went from serious, to a comedy then back. I know with Tarentino that's part of his style. And I didn't like the integration of hip-hop in the soundtrack. It pretty much lost me in the dinner scene, where they were buying Broomheilda. I was ready for it to be over then.
I always feel like Tarentino is a closet racist with his liberal usage of the "N-word". Yeah, yeah, I know this movie was all about slavery. But I remember it being used a lot in the Bonnie Situation segment of Pulp Fiction and I thought the guy seemed to be enjoying using his artistic freedom a little too much.
Jamie Foxx was really good though. I can't believe that's the same guy who played Wanda on In Living Colour. He's done well.

Saw A Good Day To Die Hard on Friday.
Enjoyed it, and liked the fact that it's nothing like a typical Die Hard movie.
Fuck cinema prices though. I knew there was a reason I hadn't seen anything in the cinema since The Dark Knight Rises. £13 (~$20) each? I'll wait for DVDs.

So what you're saying is, you have no excuse ;)
Admittedly though most of what I've wanted to see in 2013 is stuff the US had at the tail end of 2012, like Django Unchained and Lincoln.
Only thing I've seen is Die Hard 5.

Very little to take interest in alright. Cloud Atlas looks awesome but I've yet to finish the book so probably won't catch that in the cinema. Warm Bodies looked decent but I didn't get to see it. I seen The Hardy Bucks film and that sucked pretty hard. Wreck-It Ralph is so far the only stand out film I've seen this year.

Yep, pretty stoked on the Kick-Ass 2 trailer. I don't think it'll be as good as the first one, because a.) Matt Vaughan isn't directing and b.) part of the charm of the first one was that it was fairly original as far as superhero movies go. I'm sure I'll nitpick it a lot, but frankly as long as Hit-Girl shoots a lot of people in the face, I'll enjoy it.

Check it out, it's interesting to say the least. I have to watch it again to form a firm opinion on it, but I'm giving it 3/5 atm.
The thing that's killing me though is the amount of backlash it's getting from mainstream audiences. It's a social commentary on how batshit crazy the party culture is in the United States right now (it really does a great job of capturing just how insane it is) and everyone is just saying it's a borderline porno with no plot. It's a lot to take in and the story is told in non-linear fashion with a lot of voiceovers and other abstract filmmaking techniques I can completely understand someone absolutely hating it (Like I said earlier, there were parts of it I hated.) Everyone is entitled to their opinion, just know what it's trying to accomplish before writing it off as a mindless piece of shit people.

Olympus Has Fallen is meant to be pretty good from what I'm hearing, anyone got any opinions? It was enjoyable for what it is: a brainless action flick that's literally Die Hard in the White House. I've seen worse. I wanted to see Spring Breakers, but it's only playing in one theater here for some reason and it's one of the shitty ones, so I'll wait to see if it comes to the good one next week. I was pissed because they're still showing that shitty Nicholas Sparks movie Safe Haven. Who the fuck went to see that in the first place, let alone a month and a half later?
I'm definitely going to see Jurassic Park 3D when it comes out. I don't like 3D, but I'll take any excuse to see Jurassic Park in a theater.

None of the Scary Movies were good but those things just get worse and worse. The first one was about a 5/10 and with each movie it just gets worse. I'd say they've been under 1.0 since Epic Movie.

I'm with you on that, Korine brilliantly gets his point across about the excess of the party culture in the United States and he was 100% aware when he put Disney Channel starlets in the movie that was going to hook mainstream audiences and disgust a majority of them with the content of the movie. Yeah Devil's Rejects was the only one of his movies I even mildly enjoyed, House of 1000 Corpses is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I'm heard nothing but terrible things about Lords of Salem so I'll be steering clear.
Meanwhile I saw Pain & Gain last night and it was actually really good. One of the most absurdly entertaining movies I've seen in the past few years. It's not at all the type of movie you would expect Michael Bay to make. It's very much story and character-driven movie that's extremely funny at times and features a trio of great performances from Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie as the whacked-out, bodybuilding leads as well as solid turns from the supporting cast including Tony Shaloub, Ed Harris and Rebel Wilson. A great piece of satire about achieving the American dream under any means necessary.

I saw The Great Gatsby earlier today. It was alright. Probably wouldn't watch it again but it's a good movie to see in the theater. I was skeptical when I saw the reviews but since the average was in the mixed range I was willing to give it a shot.
