Yeah, I saw Immolation co-headline with Vader in late-2010 at the Mod Club in Toronto (probably four hundred capacity max). Vader went on first and there were probably two hundred and fifty to three hundred people there. Then Immolation went on and I don't think there were a hundred people.

If I did a top 10 in 2010, I think Majesty & Decay would've been on it. Probably even in the top 5.

CC has played HOB for the past 5 or so years, it should be there unless Mojoes manages to take it. It's a lose-lose situation regardless, but as long as it comes to Chicago (or Chicago area...) I'm happy.

Second Annual Decibel Magazine Tour Lineup + Dates Announced

Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and Immolation headline premier metal mag’s
highly-anticipated sophomore tour this May

After a bloody successful maiden voyage in 2012, Decibel Magazine is doubling down on
veteran star power for our second annual national tour. This spring, the plague spreads as we
bring you three living legends of death metal and grindcore: preeminent gore institution
Cannibal Corpse; rabble-rousing U.K. grind icons Napalm Death, and NYDM stalwarts
Immolation.

While occultism permeated last spring’s inaugural dB tour—featuring exclusively European
headliners in Behemoth, Watain, the Devil’s Blood and In Solitude—we looked (mostly)
to North America for this year’s unholy assemblage. Three of our favorite underground
powerhouses will take on this year’s rotating opening slot: demented Bay Area death-grinders
Cretin, Canadian tech-prog upstarts Beyond Creation and Beltway grind/powerviolence
crushers Magrudergrind. And the time is ripe to see the new bleed into the old: three of the six
artists performing are expected to have new records detonating during the tour.

Kicking off in May, this year’s gauntlet will last a full week longer than its 2012 counterpart,
spanning over 30 North American dates. Presented by Metal Blade, Indiemerchstore.com,
Nuclear Blast, Lace Pickups, Century Media and Season of Mist, the 2013 Decibel Magazine
Tour will bring together the kind of globally-renowned, boundary-pushing innovators that have
made it possible for our magazine to continue thriving for over 100 issues. Coming off a tour
noted for Behemoth frontman Nergal’s triumphant return to the States following his battle with
leukemia—which culminated in an explosive sold-out closing gig in New York City—we had
no choice but to go bigger and even more badass.

“We’re psyched to be headlining this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour along with Immolation and
Napalm Death,” says Cannibal Corpse bassist Alex Webster. “This is a lineup of bands that have
been a consistent part of the death/grind scene for decades, and we’re proud to be a part of it. It
will be a legendary night for extreme music.”

“Do you remember the Blue Grape Merchandise catalog?” asks Decibel Editor in Chief Albert
Mudrian. “How about the Hard N’ Heavy Grindcore Video Special? Or purchasing CDs in
longboxes? Then this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour was assembled for you. See you on the
campaign trail for musical destruction.”

“We are really excited to be getting back to the States!” enthuses Napalm Death bassist Shane
Embury. “We are fired up to be sharing the stage with Immolation and Canibal Corpse—great
friends of ours from way back, and awesome bands! Also, finally, for us it’s brilliant that this is a
Decibel tour, a magazine that’s shown us great support over the years. That makes it an honor for
us to be part of this package, and something very close to our hearts. It’s going to be a fun tour
for sure! Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Totally chuffed, too, that Albert’s agreed to do some backing
vocals on ‘The Kill’ with us! Yes, come on!”

Psyched and/or chuffed yourself? Well, here’s an early opportunity to score a great deal AND
avoid standing in line. Twenty premium packages are available in each market that include
your ticket to the show, a tour T-shirt, a tour poster, a super-exclusive “Skip the Line” pass to
move you to the front when doors open, one free track, “Scourge Of Iron” from the forthcoming
Cannibal Corpse box set, Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal (3/19), and one 10%
off coupon for a purchase on Indiemerchstore.com. The price of this package is less than you
would spend on a ticket and a tour shirt at the show! More details, including ticket info, will be
announced at www.decibelmagazinetour.com

I would support that. I'm bummed out now because as I'm typing this I'm listening to Fire, Flood, & Plauge. I haven't seen HOF since they opened for Opeth in '08. Yes I acknowledge I did miss them at Riot Room.

Yeah it's holds 1,000 people. The amount of injuries at this show with the elevated floor is going to be astronomical.

Lately I've noticed that the Royale has been picking up a lot more metal acts of late (Cannibal, ETID, letlive, etc). I hope they end up getting rid of the elevated floor because the place is probably gonna end up getting sued at some point.

I hate to be that guy who complains about the venue, but fuck Royale. The whole "trendy nightclub turned makeshift metal venue" vibe just doesn't cut it for me. Believe me, I love being able to drive into Boston for a show and not have to drive out to Worcester, but I just really feel the Palladium is a cooler place to see a show, despite how shitty it is. I really hope that Royale doesn't start stealing lots of extreme metal tours. Oh well though, disliking a venue has never stopped me from enjoying a show, so I will go to this place for lineups like these!! As long as I don't get hurt with that raised dance floor, I'll be okay .

I wuld have preferred Magrudergrind or Cretin for the opener, but I'll give Beyond Creation a chance. Enough complaining though, I seriously think this show will be amazing, and I will be there for sure.

They're regional openers, and I just looked at the flyer again and I noticed they have the dates for each opener underneath them. We get Cretin. That sucks that Beyond Creation won't be there but at least they're starting to get touring opportunities in the US.

Regional Decibel Magazine Tour Openers Announced!
By: andrew Posted in: featured, the decibel magazine tour, tours On: Thursday, March 7th, 2013

As if you needed any more incentive to attend this year’s second annual Decibel Magazine Tour—featuring not only headliners Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and Immolation, but rotating openers Beyond Creation, Cretin and Magrudergrind—it gives us great pleasure to announce eight one-off openers for select locations. Blast beats, please:

MAMMOTH GRINDER
May 10 / Houston, TX / Fitzgerald’s
Mammoth Grinder are akin to the classic early eras of Entombed, Dismember or Autopsy, combined with the bolting hardcore speed of Discharge. Armed with a recording driven by chainsaw guitars, screeching noise and quaking drums, these Austin, TX natives carve out a sound equally appealing to fans of metal and hardcore punk alike.

KILL THE CLIENT
May 11 / Dallas, TX / Trees
May 12 / San Antonio, TX / Backstage Live
Kill the Client formed in 2004, and have released three full-lengths in addition to split releases with Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Thousandswilldie. The band has also appeared on For the Sick—A Tribute to Eyehategod and 2008’s This Comp Kills Fascists. “Kill the Client is beyond excited to be playing on the Decibel tour,” says frontman Champ Morgan. “Both as big fans of the magazine and the amazing lineup. To share the stage again with our friends in Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse will be, as always, a good time. Looking forward to grinding Texas faces in. GRIND HARD! GRIND FAST! NO MERCY!”

ABYSMAL DAWN
May 16 / Santa Ana, CA / The Observatory
Hailing from Los Angeles CA, Abysmal Dawn play an aggressive brand of modern death metal. The band seamlessly blends the hooks and technicality of early ’90s American death metal with the atmosphere, melody and the brutality of their contemporaries.

EARLY GRAVES
May 17 / Oakland, CA / Metro
Early Graves formed in the Bay Area in early 2008, and have released three full-lengths, most recently the critically acclaimed Red Horse. The band’s sound has been described as a mixture of old-school Swedish death metal and American hardcore punk, and has drawn comparisons to Napalm Death, Carcass, Tragedy and Testament, among others. “Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse are bands we have been listening to since we were kids,” says guitarist Chris Brock, “and we are extremely proud and excited to play our home in the Bay Area with the tour. Huge thanks to Andrew and Albert at Decibel.”

GREAT FALLS
May 19 / Seattle, WA / El Corazon
There are three certainties in this fucked-up world: death, taxes and Great Falls. Accidents Grotesque—the follow-up to the Seattle trio’s well-regarded 2011 full-length Fontanelle—is a beacon of truth for the godless masses, a dizzying blend of mathematical hardcore and grind in the vein of Narrows and KEN Mode. Says bassist Shane Mehling, “We were already so stoked to see the show that getting to actually play alongside these legends is almost indescribable. I’ve waited decades to be in the same green room as Shane Embury’s hair.”

ARCHSPIRE
May 21 / Vancouver, BC / Commodore Ballroom
Pushing boundaries of speed and endurance set only by the genre’s top artists, all the while remaining accessible and interesting, is no small feat. These Canadians have proven themselves worthy of touring and playing with bands like Origin, Decapitated, Hate Eternal, Abysmal Dawn, Vomitory, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Aborted.

BLACK ANVIL
Jun 05 / Brooklyn, NY / Music Hall of Williamsburg
NYC’s Black Anvil let loose Triumvirate, the follow-up to the acclaimed Time Insults the Mind, on the unsuspecting world in 2010. Triumvirate’s assault is powerful, primal and pure, capturing and channeling the spirit of metal’s earliest trailblazers through a 21st century urban hostility. Insidious tracks such as “The Evil of All Roots,” “Scalping” and “Dead and Left” are as cold and hard as they are hypnotic.

DRUGS OF FAITH
Jun 06 / Philadelphia, PA / Union Transfer
The original idea was to start a punk band, but it ended up being too hard to categorize. Rock, hardcore and grindcore are among many elements blending into something original in the form of Drugs of Faith. Frontman Richard “The Grindfather” Johnson says, “It’s an honor and a privilege for Drugs of Faith to be supporting the bands on the Decibel Magazine Tour in Philadelphia. It’ll be our job to warm up the early attendees for these top names in death metal and grindcore—that goes for Magrudergrind, too, who’s playing this leg of the tour. June can’t get here fast enough, basically.”
