Oh wow. Is this turning into a halfway decent fest again? Black Breath, Power Trip and Trap Them alone will show those deathcore kiddies what's up.

Maybe it's me or I'm still sick like I have been all weekend...But outside of a few the non-headliners don't seem all that hot. Theres a few not too bad but the majority doesn't seem all that exciting to me.

It's not a bad line-up. I'm more tempted to go see Suicidal Tendencies then Anthrax. Especially if Black Breath and Power Trip are gonna fall onthat day too.

mastodon421

I'll have to see how the day-by day lineup is, but it's not one of the better lineups they've had imo. I would definitely like to see Black Breath and Ensiferium as well as some others I've seen before (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, The Contortionist, After the Burial, Born of Osiris, Anthrax, Municipal Waste) but there are quite a few bands I have no interest in seeing. I'm assuming the headliners will be Anthrax/Metal Alliance the 1st day, Hatebreed/Suicidal Tendencies on the second day and Opeth the last day. Hopefully the bands that are announced later (and by the looks of how small lineup is now, it will be a lot) are better. Above all, I'm hoping Scott Lee comes through on his promise to let Converge play ten years after their 2003 incident.

@smearcampaign: You do realize there's a shitload of "trOO" bands that play every year right? It tends to be pretty evenly split between -core stuff and non-core stuff every year.

That is why it's come down to ST as being the reason. Most if not all of those bands have played this either every year or on and off for years now or have played 3 or 4 shows up this way in the past year.

Scott Lee said in an interview last year that there was a shitload of fights during their set and security was being overwhelmed. He also said that he's friends with friends with Jake Bannon and the rest of the band and he wanted to have to them play it this year.

 Already like this more than last year's lineup I think. Pumped about Suicidal Tendencies, and really looking forward to Anthrax and the whole MA lineup. Opeth is the band I really don't care for (and Hatebreed). I'll have to see the breakdown for each day, but I'll probably end up going to all 3 days. Oh yeah and I was gonna skip Pagan Fest, but I won't be too bummed if I see some of the bands here. I won't go just for those bands though.

Bands I'm most excited for:

Anthrax
Suicidal Tendencies
Alpha & Omega
Black Breath
Ensiferum
Exodus
Katatonia
Municipal Waste
Power Trip
Rude Awakening
Suburban Scum
Trap Them
Xibalba

EDIT: I really hope all of the bold bands are upstairs. I really feel the intensity of these bands would be somewhat lost on a big stage like downstairs. Most worried about Black Breath, since they are the band I'm most excited for and the most metal, which is more likely to be downstairs.

I definitely think most if he hardcore bands will be touring together. Most bands who are just on the fest tend to be from from the northeast, so almost all bands tour before or after. Most metal bands are in the tours you mentioned, but safe to say the others will tour too.

Friday is INSANE, Saturday is pretty lame, and Sunday is lame, except for ST. I really want to see them though, so I may go. Pretty much all the bands I was excited for were placed on the first day. Yeah that VIP deal is actually pretty cool. I may not go to all 3 days (really depends on if/when more bands are added to Sat. and Sun.), but I MAY have to dish out the extra cash for the VIP.

SO far what interests me:

Friday:
Anthrax
Exodus
Municipal Waste
Black Breath
Holy Grail
VYGR
Mutilation Rites
Trap Them
Xibalba
The Mongoloids
Power Trip
Twitching Tongues
Suburban Scum
Rude Awakening

Saturday:
Katatonia
Ensiferum

Sunday:
Suicidal Tendencies

Yeah, REALLY depends on the bands that get added later. Saturday is a guaranteed skip at this point, Sunday I will prob. go for ST, but is otherwise terrible. Friday is just fucking amazing.

Holy shit at Terror being on Saturday, I can finally see them! Every Time I Die would make complete sense actually since they are on the Hatebreed tour. That won't be the case, the order the bands are in the poster is very rough. It's normally only the last few bands that are in actually in that order (i.e for Friday: Anthrax, Hatebreed and Every Time I Die will be the last 3 bands to play on the day.)

Hatebreed can. Hatebreed is one of the greatest bands I've ever seen that can hype a crowd up. Anthrax will have a hard time facing ETID though and thats coming from a Anthrax lover and ETID fanatic.

Haha yeah you are right. I will watch Hatebreed since I have heard they are so much fun live, and I have never seen them. I actually don't mind them, I just think they are way overrated. And I can't really think of something better to do there than watch ETID, since they are really fun live. I was just being a wiseass haha :D

Yeah I feel you, their pits are loaded with big bro motherfuckers. That being said, they are still one of my favorite bands to see live. Their shows are just so much fun and their energy is insane.

Side note: Lamb of God has surprisingly normal, non-douchey crowds here in Mass. One of the best crowds I've ever been a part of was NEMHF 09 with LOG, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, God Forbid, Municipal Waste, All Shall Perish, The Ghost Inside and some others.

This. LoG has been playing up here for quite a while and their first appearances were straight up underground metal shows before they became a "bigger" band. They draw a bit more of a Slayer/Megadeth crowd here than a Hatebreed-style crowd.

Aside from that, am I the only person who isn't excited about ETID being added to this? I just find them wicked annoying, and you know they're going to get 40-50 minutes of time. I don't get them.

Just took advantage of the sale and bought 2 tix for my friends. I wish I had waited now lol, the 2 tickets were basically the same price that I paid for my one! Its okay though, ST, DRI, Sick of it All, and No Mercy (Waking the Dead) should make it more than worth it. Plus, TUI should be decent and I can see what Miss May I live is all about, since they are playing with Killswitch and AILD.
