Since I did one for the 80's,I thought it would appropriate to make a 90's one to.Even though,I'd have to admit that I think the 90's was probably rock's most weakest decade (I hate Grunge). My favorite year was probably 1992.
Albums that I like in some form or another from this year:
Adrenalize-Def Leppard
Human Touch-Bruce Springsteen
The Wild Life-Slaughter
Night Of The Stormrider-Iced Earth
Fear Of The Dark-Iron Maiden
The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion-The Black Crowes
Revenge-Kiss
Hold Your Fire-FireHouse
Somewhere Far Beyond-Blind Guardian
Don't Tread-Damn Yankees
Dog Eat Dog-Warrant
America's Least Wanted-Ugly Kid Joe
III Sides To Every Story-Extreme
Keep The Faith-Bon Jovi

These kinds of threads would probably be better in general chat. But anyway... '94 was the peak for black metal, so I'm going with that.

Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Gorgoroth - Pentagram
Enslaved - Frost
Satyricon - The Shadowthrone
Rotting Christ - Non Serviam
Impaled Nazarene - Suomi Finland Perkele

Unfortunately by '94 death metal was on a downward trend, but there are still some good (and great) releases from that year.

Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
Bolt Thrower - ...For Victory
Asphyx - Asphyx
Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding
Septic Flesh - Mystic Places of Dawn

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of stuff.

'91 Death Metal.

I'm not prepared to provide a list right now, but it was damn good.

Off the top of my head I know Blessed Are The Sick, Effigy Of the Forgotten, and Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious came out that year, which are all in my Top 5. Plus Death's Human which is in my Top 10. And many more great albums.

I was considering '91 too. It's hard to decide!

Yeah in terms of death metal, 1991 is definitely the best. Including what you said there is also Unquestionable Presence (Atheist), Like an Ever Flowing Stream (Dismember), Mental Funeral (Autopsy), War Master (Bolt Thrower), and a bumch more.

Overall for me though, that's way too tough of a decision. Gonna have to think about that...

Every year from the 1990's has something that I really enjoy, but specifically:
1991 - for all the death metal everyone's talking about
1994 - for all the black metal people have been talking about
1994 - for some really good mainstream releases from Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails.
1999 - because I loved almost everything about that year (May + October thru December sucked)

The first half of the decade (90-94) was very plentyful. I'm gonna go 90' though as with the exception of black metal, it had a great balance of everything (but even with black metal we got Live In Liepzig).

Anthrax- Persistence Of Time
Bathory- Hammerheart
Deicide- Deicide
Entombed- Left Hand Path
Judas Priest- Painkiller
Kreator- Coma Of Souls
Megadeth- Rust In Peace
Obituary- Cause Of Death
Pantera- Cowboys From Hell
Slayer- Seasons In The Abyss

Tool - Ănima
Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar
Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill
Carcass - Swansong
Hypocrisy - Abducted
Opeth - Morningrise
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics
My Dying Bride - Like Gods of the Sun

Some of these are the best albums that these bands have ever done in their whole career.

Yeah, 1996 was an awesome year too. I'd personally add Rage Against the Machine's 'Evil Empire' to the list. Probably a lot more too that I can't remember right now.

I hope you're not trolling with Life is Peachy on that list, I actually really love that album still.

Was going through release dates and I just realized that Crytopsy's "None So Vile" came out a month and a half after Cannibal Corpse's "Vile"

I'm with the '91 death metal people though.
