In November 2012 I uploaded a drum cover of "Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin" by Melechesh. Melechesh themselves saw the video and reposted it on their Facebook page. After this, I was contacted by the band Dalla Nebbia from South Carolina about drumming on their upcoming album.

I get a lot of messages regarding me recording for bands, and none of them really peak my interest, but after I checked out Dalla Nebbia, I was intrigued. They play a very great mix of Atmospheric Black Metal with some Progressive elements to it as well.

I will be hitting the studio next month to lay down some drum tracks for 7 of their songs, plus a Windir cover. I am currently planning on being a full time member and recording their follow up album as well.

Just out of curiosity, where in South Carolina is this located?

I forgot what city the main guy was from, but he just moved. The other two members are in different locations as well. Vocalist in the mid-west, I believe Minnesota, and the bassist is in Brazil, but all three of them went to college together in SC.

It's strictly a studio project, but man... I sure would love to perform with them live!

STUDIO UPDATE: DAY 1
Day 1 went amazing. We took about 5-6 hours just to set up the mic's and make sure everything sounded good. I was drumming the entire time, so I was more than warmed up when we finally got into the real thing.

We blasted through 4 songs (the 4 songs I knew the best and that I knew I could nail) and called it a day. Half of the songs was more than what we were originally planning on. We decided that every sloppy drum fill I did would be called a Fill Anselmo.

STUDIO UPDATE: DAY 2
Day 2 was a bitch! I had two songs that I was comfortable with and knew I could nail, and two songs that I knew would be a bitch. We recorded the hardest song last, and 3 hours later had something great! We started to worry that we would run out of time, but we got it (at least to the point where it was workable and would be good with the small edit here and there).

Overall I had a blast. It was a much more fun time than when I recorded the last Funeral Age CD because A) I actually knew how to play off a click and not be too stiff, and B) I was friends with the guy producing it, so we could have a good time and not have to be TOO serious.

I can't wait to hear the final version! I am so insanely happy with my drum tracks, especially the 4 songs from day one, because all of the fresh energy was there.

I ended up using a Ludwig snare drum the studio owned, and OMG it was amazing. The little snare rolls that I improvised during the recordings gave me a .....good feeling that it would sound awesome when finalized :eyes: . I feel I could have done the two hardest songs a bit better, but that could just be me criticizing my drumming, as always

Sending the files off to the East Coast for the guitarist to work his magic with and hopefully getting released within a month or two :rocker:

Yeah! He lives over in Missouri and we are basically best concert buds 4 lyfe. He's also a weatherman but I hope that doesn't tarnish his grim and frostbitten image!

I am in this band, yes. I am the vocalist/lyricist for Dalla Nebbia. It's been a passion project for me and my cohort for some time. He sent me a midi file of a few melodies he was working on a few years ago. And I wrote some lyrics. From then, it's been a big effort to find musicians willing to make it a full-fledged band. Now, it's a reality and we are overjoyed.

Our origins are the small town of Lugoff, South Carolina, but as John has already said, we are spread out now. North Carolina, Missouri, Washington state, and South America.

Been listening to the few rough tracks a lot. I really cannot wait for this to be finalized and released for everyone to hear. It may be the proudest I've been with my drumming, but a big part of it is the music itself.

Mastering has begun! The nerves are kicking in, I cannot wait to get these CD's into my hands.

I am going to start learning the songs for the next album this weekend, which should be released this year as well.

I just listened to the EP and I have to say that I'm fucking impressed! Sounds like Morningrise era Opeth with more black metal elements. I'm really digging the atmosphere. Can't wait to hear the new stuff with a real drum! :horns:

Kick ass man! The album should be finished within a month. I heard a test master of a song and WOW, I cannot wait much longer.

The newer material is a lot more atmospheric, I'd say, really hard to put it into a category though.

UPDATE: The mastering process has been a bit slow, so our guitarist and the guy mastering the album came up with a new game plan to speed things up. Hopefully things will be ready to go very soon :rocker:

Also, I have half of the new songs with no drum/click track mixes, so I have been working on getting them down. Looking to start recording in May or June.

No real update, but heard the "FINAL" master of one of our tracks and it is souding amazing. I am really really really really really excited to release this finally. Still looking to start recording the next album really soon. Funeral Age has been busy, so I haven't had much time, but I am buying all my own recording gear so I can do it at my own pace.

Just checked out the first song. Color me intrigued. Good work man! (on the first song at least:cool:) I'll check out some more a bit later. Getting kind of an Agalloch vibe, with less "folkiness" for lack of a better term.

Thanks man! Agalloch def is not the sound we are going for, but there are some similarities.

We really wanted to go with a natural sound. Not overproduced, not edited to make every little thing perfect, just very natural and "organic". That may also add to the "Agalloch" kind of vibe that people get. :)

Well damn, forgot to update this!

We have some HUGE news for our second album. The song writing is complete, but we wanted to have some REAL Violin tracks, so we contacted someone whos playing we love, this person being Sareeta from Norway! Sareeta is best known for her work with Borknagar, TrollfesT, among many others, as well as being a part of the upcoming super group God of Atheists (featuring ICS Vortext, Trym, Ihsahn, and others).

We are VERY excited to have her guest on our album. I believe she will be playing on just about every song, and the samples she has sent us are sounding amazing! She definitely adds so much more to our sound!

The album has no set release date, but will once again be released through Razed Soul Productions. The Cusp of the Void is doing pretty good, and the reviews have been great for it so far!

You can get a digital copy ($5), or stream it for free, on our bandcamp page, here:
