I get the feeling that you and I are going to be the only 2 people on here with the new Evoken and Asphyx albums in our top 10...

I would hope not. Deathhammer's the best death metal album in the past few years. I know I'll be the only one with Tamaryn on their list :allan:

Towards The Megalith's the best death metal album in the past few years.

Fixed;)

Deathhammer was very good, but I don't know that it'll crack my top ten. Also, some of you people are really making it difficult for me to not check out Evoken at some point.

I never did warm up to that Evoken album...

Moobys37's #1 however I love to death.

^ Pun fully intended, and don't you even try to deny it. ;)

...and yeah, that album is a fucking beast. Those dudes slay live, too.

I despise those assholes who try to deny their 'intended puns' even when they're obviously intended. And by pointing them out it also implies that the reader is too dumb to pick up on the pun, which is insulting.

But actually I didn't mean for that to be a pun... I really didn't think about it. So I can honestly say 'no pun intended.'

This.

Also, good to see Worm Ouroboros on the list. Not quite Top 10 for me, but it's still an amazing record.

I probably won't write up a top 10 because I am way too indecisive, but those two would without question be on there.

Agreed on The Mars Volta. The production killed that record.

http://c438342.r42.cf2.rackcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/baroness-art-2-626x626.jpgI don't know, man. Green Theme, Board Up the House, Mtns. (The Crown & Anchor), Stretchmarker, and The Line Between were all pretty good. Especially Stretchmarker. That might be one of the most beautiful tracks I've heard all year on any album. I wish they had made a fifteen-minute version of that track...

EDIT: Also, word to yo momma on that Trees album...that shit is fo real awesome.

This. Most disappointing Volta record to date. Seems they will never touch the first three albums.

I just couldn't get into it at all. If it wasn't released alongside Yellow it might have helped but it just was a giant letdown for what I was hoping for, even without it being metal.

I'm really surprised at Alcest being a disappointment. All the elements of a great Alcest record are there and I feel like he kept it fresh even though it's basically the same as the other albums.

That's just it. The record itself is pretty good, but it's by the numbers Alcest and left a lot to be desired for me. Their next project is going to be where it's at.
