I would like to see Evoken and/or Pallbearer on it, a bit more in the vain of the first year rather than last year. Don't get me wrong I like some of the bands that were on last year's bill but most of them tour all the time.

If I recall correctly the only core bands on MA 2012 were Impending Doom and Wretched. Yes, it was much different from the year before but in no way was it as bad as some other tours for the amount of -core bands.

a tech-death or all death metal line-up would be sick.

I'd rather have some variety. Watching the same genre all night (especially package tours with 5+ bands) gets boring as fuck really quickly.

I don't want to sit through blast beats for 6+ hours. In fact, I won't. It would be awesome if they had some traditional metal alongside some death, some black, some doom, etc.

A tour featuring various genres of metal would fit more in line with the 'Metal Alliance' moniker anyway!

I remember Moobys said he knows some of the lineup and that will please some of us and piss others off. I'm assuming they will continue in the vein of last year with lineup that's all over the place, which is fine by me because I thought last year's lineup was badass.

AnataFan4Life
12-01-2012, 06:28 PM
The main reason I didn't go last year was because of the fact that I was going to see Dying Fetus do a headlining show a few weeks later and I would see The Faceless at Summer Slaughter, both of which were the two bands I would have wanted to see the most at Metal Alliance.

Hahahaha, I thought the same thing. They're the pinnacle of mediocrity in metal for me. There's just nothing remotely interesting/appealing about them...

Please be someone else. The only this would be good is if there's somehow a lot of awesome bands for support. That way I can enjoy a decent concert and still head home at a reasonable time. Headliners are often on too late for me to enjoy fully..

I saw them once in 99 at the peak of their popularity. It was a fun show.

Maybe FF is the second or third tier band on the tour and not the headliner? That would make alot more sense to me.

AnthG
12-07-2012, 06:14 AM
I think it depends what kind of venues they're pulling for. If they're playing the same size venues as 2012 then I don't see Fear Factory being unable to pull in people as a headliner. I mean DevilDriver headlined this year and FF is a lot more popular than DD.

Fear Factory are more veterans of the metal scene, but I feel like Devildriver would probably bring in a larger crowd at this point. Only seen them once, and the crowd went nuts. That was opening for Arch Enemy though, so who knows how many would have came if it were just DD. Never seen FF live, but I just don't see them doing well as a headliner of a large package tour at this point, but I could be wrong, since I don;t really follow FF that closely.

Slayedbythebeast

Ive seen FF a while ago with Divine Heresy and the show was kinda lame... the venue was awesome but the show wasn't what i thought it would be but DD when i seen them with Arch Enemy that show was intense, great show, great venue and I met Dez to top off the night.

Depends on what your into. The 2011 lineup was really good as well(I could never get into Saint Vitus and I've never listened to The Atlas Moth, but the rest of the lineup was great.) The 2012 lineup gets the edge for me though. I like all the bands a good amount (save for Impending Doom and Wretched, Who I've never listened to at length) and the bill was pretty diverse.

the tour matt is filling in for ends feb 11th, well before march. at the very least it explains FF pushing back their LA one off.

also, safe to assume the indian headdress artwork relates to the headliner, as last years artwork was a devil driving a dunebuggy, and the year before was a retarded kid in a helmet /SARCASM

ANTHRAX, EXODUS, MUNICIPAL WASTE, HOLY GRAIL Set For "Metal Alliance Tour"

ANTHRAX will headline the third annual Metal Alliance Tour, set to kick off in March and run through the month of April. The band will perform its fan-favorite 1987 album "Among The Living" in its entirety during the trek, which will feature support from EXODUS, MUNICIPAL WASTE, HOLY GRAIL and a couple of additional bands, to be announced at a later date.

This would seem to be the biggest of the 3 MA tours so far. Our local date last year was in the town of Danvers (never have I seen a concert before or since listed there) at some hotel ballroom. Maybe because the lineup is more well known, the venues & markets will be bigger.

First MA came here as an "off-date" with Vitus headlining and no Helmet. Every other band played. It was in Merriam, KS at a restaurant/venue. Max capacity maybe like...350-ish? Same venue I've seen Ghoul, Exhumed and Origin at.

This year the whole tour came to Lawrence, KS at a legitimately venue with like 1,000 max capacity. Lots of people there.

I've never listened to this band but that sounds like a pretty big exaggeration - I think they've been here exactly once (opening for In Flames).

Blackguard, at the height of their tour-whoring were stopping by pretty close to once every two months.

Still haven't seen Battlecross though.

Reason I brought up shorter times was because of last year's NEMHF. Overkill was on a headlining tour and was placed under fucking Dragonforce.

Surely this wasn't actually surprising to you, right? I mean aside from any of those claims about 'legendary status' or 'seniority respect lol', you'd have to be retarded to think that Overkill was a bigger draw than Dragonforce. Those guys are popular!

I can understand why you'd be pissed off though, especially if you would've just preferred to see the smaller headlining tour with Overkill instead of a festival lineup. Must get tiring to go through that every year. Though it would be sick to have access to festivals!

No Pomona date makes me sad :(

Overkill was billed lower than Gojira and Dillinger Escape Plan at Heavy TO, so them being billed under Dragonforce isn't surprising.

Well, it IS Anthrax. I am sure they are considered more "sought after" than anyone on the first Metal Alliance.

It's probably just my bitterness over not getting a date near me.

It's a M&G with all the bands on the tour. Seems pretty reasonable for $100, especially considering Anthrax by themselves is usually that price

Gonna try to hit Cincy on a Sunday. Definitely into seeing all of Among the Living, the rest is icing.

^What a nice gesture! Should hopefully dispel some potential confusion.

I'm still really curious about the other bands on this tour though. That'll make this whole thing either a lot better, or mildly disappointing.

updated the first post with info.

Wish this was coming semi-close to me. :bouville:

edit: although there may be the slightest slimmest possibility I'd be able to make the AZ date

HOB Sunset just like I expected. Pass.

Oh, and it's the same night as Nile anyway.

certainly looks that way, either day 1 or 3 if we are to presume its happening april 19-21

I'm hearing through the grapevine that this tour is playing Worcester 4/19, and the Palladium has no other shows booked that weekend yet. Draw your own conclusions.

Actually, screw guessing, and just go here: http://holygrailofficial.com/

4/19 is the NEHMF Friday. I'm guessing Scott Lee and Co. will start to leak other acts soon in light of this.

Don't know if I will make it then. It all depends on work. If it fell saturday or Sunday I would be there.

Knew it was going to end up hitting NEMHF, still I would have been really bummed if it didn't have an MA date.

Hell yes! I don't have any of High on Fire's stuff but I've heard good things about them. Glad there's finally a good band besides Anthrax on this, now if only HoF was billed over Exodus.

How does this tour fit so many bands into the schedule per night? Do they play really short sets, or start really early, or have multiple stages?

Holy FUCK! Well, High on Fire was absolutely stellar last month. I'll be thrilled to see them again so soon. This lineup is looking good.
