How is Emmure using the decepticon symbol as their logo? Shouldn't that shit be trademarked or something?

I wouldn't say anyone on this board is really that serious about liking Emmure and Whitechapel (except for maybe dcmetal). There's a few people on here who actually listen to those bands but they don't take them seriously and acknowledge that their music is objectively bad.

hahaha I mean I don't like a ton of older Emmure stuff but I generally love pretty much everything Whitechapel has done and both bands are great live.

I wouldn't say I think Whitechapel is objectively bad (They are pretty solid musicians actually and their songwriting has improved tremendously on their past two records), but they definitely aren't the most intellectually stimulating music on the planet. Bottom line of why I like Whitechapel: They are good at what they do and I really like Phil Bozeman as a vocalist. With the surprising quality of their new album, I actually like them more now than I ever did before.

If you look closely there's an imprint of their logo on the symbol, so maybe that's why it's OK?

I really shouldn't be looking that much into this.

It's funny because I think in 2006 it was Darkest Hour tour headline with Emmure co headline and Whitechapel as first opener and now a days it'll be the complete opposite.

No Darkest Hour? Laaamesauce. Though Glasshouse makes this appealing to me. Unearth will still play a headliner set anyways

this dude can't be anymore correct about Unearth. 35 min set they'll probably have and thats only 10 mins shorter than their "headline set time". I used to go see them live all the time. Still one of my fav live bands but with only 45 mins and 5 albums you can only pull so little material to play. Making it now something to think about when seein them live.

It's just how people are. They always want to say the first album is the best because it makes them sound cool, and they can say they were a fan from the start. But anyone with open ears can tell the new album is clearly a major improvement in every way possible.

Emmure are what they are, they pretty much suck but have an energy about them live that's fun to watch. Whitechapel is way, way more talented.

I haven't been a fan since the beginning. Somatic Defilement is just a better album. Best album of it's respective genre in fact. It's dumb, fun deathcore, not that nu-metal infused crap that's on the self-titled.

The definition if Nu Metal must of changed somewhere along the line if there is any Nu Metal influence in anything WhiteChapel does.

I think it's mostly the spoken word parts which give it a nu-metal vibe.

deathcore has always had an element of nu-metal. what do you think all those dudes were listening to when they were 15. why do you think they even play 7 string guitars.

Yeah, this. The influence is just too pronounced on the new Whitechapel and most deathcore releases of the past year and a half.

Alright outside of Hate Creation what is even remotely nu-metal about the new Whitechapel record?

There's a lot of parts in I, Dementia that remind me of nu-metal riffs. Section 8 has that god awful guitar tone that plagues most -core music of the last few years (this has nothing to do with nu-metal, I'm just going through re-listening). After five songs, I rescind the nu-metal comment. It's mostly the guitar tone that annoys me about the album.
