Gah, Chicago on a Sunday. That inevitably means taking work off on the Monday. Maybe if the new Enslaved album was any good I'd consider this, but nah. Pallbearer will headline closer sometime.

YES.

I've been waiting to see Pallbearer since their debut came out. What a fucking masterpiece.

Enslaved should be fantastic again as well.

I agree with that statement. I didn't like the new CD. And I'm a huge Enslaved fan, I've seen them five times in the last five years. I don't know if they're worth missing work for. I'll be on the fence for this one for months.

Would you want to kill me if I told you I will be seeing Enslaved twice? ;)

I'm a fan of their more recent albums and I plan on attending. Do they play a good mix of old and new or is it mainly new? Also, what old albums of theirs should I pick up?

Woah, what a weird venue for this to be at. Still haven't seen Enslaved yet so hopefully I'll be able to make it.

The NYC show is 21+ at a venue that is usually all ages or 18+ at the most :tp:

Their sets are mostly material from the past decade. They usually only play a couple old songs, Allfǫr Oinn and Jotunblod. Get the Hordanes Land EP and the first two albums.

Agreed, Frost, Blodhem and Eld (except the first song) aren't that good and they never play anything from them anyway. They focus on Isa onward live, which is fine because it's their best material.

I'd imagine live they'll play three from RIITIIR, maybe two from the last, one from Ruun, Isa and Vertebra each (probably Fusion of Sense and Earth, Isa and Ground), that crappy Led Zeppelin cover, one or two from the albums Frost trough Below the Lights and Slaget from the first EP.

That's another reason I'm not to upset about not going, their setlists have gotten really predictable.

Jotunblod is from Frost, and it is easily my favorite Enslaved album. I would prefer that they play Loke instead though.

Yeah, Frost and Hordannes Land are definitely my favorite Enslaved album/EP. I'd definitely prefer them to play either Loke or Frost. I need to hear Allfadr Odin live though.

Royal Thunder was added to the Chicago date. I'm not sure if they're on the whole tour or not. I know they said they were trying to tour around that time and someone said that their tour with The Devil's Blood fell through.

That would be awesome. It would make sense, because they were supposed to be here on the 14th or something. The Enslaved tour stops by on the 12th. So I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to re-organize and hop on this tour.

I was originally thinking I'd pass on this, but I'm really starting to reconsider it. I've never seen any of the bands and I've heard good things about all of them live. I got a couple months to decide, so who knows?

From Pallbearer's FB page:

We'll be playing two Arkansas shows after the New Year --- Saturday, January 5th at White Water Tavern in Little Rock, and Friday, January 11th at JR's in Fayetteville. More info shortly!

Looks like I might just be making a trip to Fayetteville!!!!!!!!

Well this sucks: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=186432

Norwegian progressive extreme metallers ENSLAVED have been forced to cancel tomorrow night's (Tuesday, February 19) show at The Opera House in Toronto, Ontario, Canada after being "trapped in a blizzard" at the U.S./Canada border near Winnipeg, Manitoba.

States ENSLAVED guitarist Ivar Bj°rnson: "[We] simply can't believe it. We've been here for a full day now Ś meaning there is no chance of making tomorrow's show in Toronto; even if the weather should turn around dramatically during the next few hours. We're completely devastated as we sit on the bus waiting it out. We can't believe we'll miss what was for sure going to be one of the very highlights of this tour."

I feel bad for people in Toronto but at the same time I hope they still make it in MTL.

We are back on the road! They opened up the the closed roads this morning. Fingers, toes etc. crossed for open roads and that we make the show in Montreal happen! Tabarnak de sacrament!!

Let's keep them crossed too...

I feel bad for the people who were going. But I wasn't going and I felt bad. Now I feel great! Hopefully I can go next time and keep my streak of seeing Enslaved every time they've come to Toronto the last six years alive!

Hopefully it means we are included on their next tour or get a make up date. I would have loved to have seen Enslaved but they were scheduled the same night as Meshuggah so attendance might have been lower than normal had it happened anyways.

I'm not too worried, I know they'll be back before the next album hits. Probably early next year. I just hope they still play the Watcher.

I bet they will, 100%. You may not get the openers but you're probably going to get the best Enslaved concert in a long time. And if they play Bounded by Alligance, Violet Dawing or Return to Yggsdil you call me and tell them to wait. I can be there in six hour.
