View Full Version : Cavalera / Puciato Project Now Including Troy Saunders

I looked everywhere to see if I could find the thread talking about this original project but couldn't find it so I am just adding a new one. This is looking like quite the eclectic group. Hopefully something good can come of this.

Brader Bo (a.k.a. Bo Skullbanger) of Singapore’s only metal radio show, "Vicious Volume", which airs on Ria 89.7FM, a station of MediaCorp., conducted an interview with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) before SOULFLY's October 20 performance at Malaysia's Rockaway festival. You can now watch the chat in four parts below.

On his as-yet-unnamed new project with Greg Puciato (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN), Dave Elitch (ex-MARS VOLTA) and Troy Sanders (MASTODON):

Max: "Troy [Sanders] from MASTODON just joined the band, too, so now we've got three singers for the project, which is also really killer. I'm really excited about that, too. I think it's gonna be a very original project. I don't know any other metal projects out there with three people singing like this. So it can be almost like a TRANSPLANTS of metal. TRANSPLANTS had three singers; this also has three singers, and it can be very, very great. I'm following, in a lot of ways, some of the same footsteps as NAILMBOMB [Max's mid-1990s project with Alex Newport of FUDGE TUNNELin my approach to this project — a lot of do-it-yourself, punk-rock kind of feeling to the project. So the songs are written really quick — I don't think too much about it. I like it more like that, so they are very raw. We are working on the [music] in December and then we're hoping to get in the studio in January. The main thing we don't have is a name."

Any bets on Rizzo joining?

What a wonderfully bizarre track! I can't really hear Troy in the mix, which is interesting. Hopefully they tour at some point.

Yeah they really need to tour with this

Damn both of those tracks were fantastic. Can't wait to hear the whole record.

Definitely good stuff. This kind of still would be great for Mayhem Fest.

I wouldn't be surprised, they seem more likely than Soulfly

Greg on vocals is always dope. I approve!

You guys like this???

03-14-2014, 07:05 PM
I was under the impression this was going to be more Nailbomb like. It's not bad. I might have expected too much.

I dig it. I liked the 2nd song better...

This. I don't get how people like it. It sounded like crap when I listened to it a few hours ago. I'll have to give it another try later

I didn't think it was bad. I wasn't expecting a project that sounded like a combination of Mastodon/DEP/TMV/Sepultura or something. Most hard rock/metal super groups write kinda simple music, so that's what I was expecting. It was decent fun and there were a few cool riffs. I wouldn't put this on the same level as their respectful groups, but it's way better than most the shit that's on mainstream hard rock radio.

It's a lot different then what I was expecting. Honestly I figured Max would be singing and it would just be another Roots-era sounding groove metal band with maybe some thrash thrown in. I'm quite digging it so far.

It's good but like everyone said, nothing like I expected.

Listening to it again. Liking it more this time around.

I'm digging this a lot. This is the kind of stuff that should be on Top 40 Rock Radio.

Still no fucking Sepultura reunion.

The mediator between Max & Andreas must be Gloria.

This sucks.

03-16-2014, 06:50 PM
I gave it another 60 seconds, still sounds like hot trash to me.

As much as I'd like to see these guys tour it sounds like it's more likely we'd see a Sepultura reunion
