"Legendary post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor are allegedly selling copies of what appears to be a brand new record at their show tonight in Boston. Apparently, it’s called Allelujah! Don't Bend! Descend!. More details as they develop?"

 Got you beat by one minute.

"The new album presents the fruits of that labour: evolved and definitive versions of two huge compositions previously known to fans as “Albanian” and “Gamelan”, now properly titled as “MLADIC” and “WE DRIFT LIKE WORRIED FIRE” respectively."

This album is great, been hearing it non-stop the whole day. It's still even begun to fully set in for me. First song is a true masterpiece.

I like the third track the best. I wish they had done more long tracks instead of drone tracks, I mean, Mladic and We Drift Like Worried Fire are phenomenal, but the drone tracks are lacking. They could have at least put some sound samples on them or something to make things more interesting. Give me some Arco AM/PM Mini-Market.

That and the piano afterwards is one of my favorite parts of that album.

Yeah, agreed. They had such a beautiful way of using sound samples and then having the music revolve around them to illustrate messages. Like in that case, "don't trust those who are different than you are."

I can't believe it's been TEN YEARS since Yanqui U.X.O. came out. I got that album the day it was released and it seems like yesterday.

I love the way they went about releasing this album. It's so...Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Every avant-guard black metal band in France wishes for the anomity that GY!BE have.

Got my copy last week and I think it's fantastic. Not their best album by any stretch but probably my Album of the Year.

The first four minutes of the album had me. A wicked intro that just set the tone. I did find the first song to be a little more aggressive than I like from GY!BE. But whatever. The drone tracks are cool too. One thing I didn't like is that it didn't have a very powerful ending.
