For a second, I thought Grave was covering Winds of Change.

Good to see that Morbid Angel decided to take out I Am Morbid. And they kept Angel of Disease! :D They need to at least change it up a little though. Something else from Blessed Are the Sick would be nice.

Two notes on this set: 1) Trey had an extended solo in the middle of 'Chapel of Ghouls' - and I do mean solo; the rest of the band stopped playing, and 2) 'God of Emptiness' segued directly into 'World of Shit (Promised Land)', with 'God of Emptiness' being (mercifully) incomplete.

On the whole, Morbid Angel killed it. I didn't have my hopes too high, and they blew me away. I couldn't believe they played 'Angel of Disease'. My friend and I lost our shit for that. I thought the setlist was just about perfect. I'm not the biggest fan of 'Blessed Are the Sick', but still, maybe one more song from that would have been good. 'Summoning Redemption' would also have been killer to hear. These are not complaints though. If this tour comes near you, fucking SEE IT!

Dark Funeral was competent but generic. Nothing else to say.

Grave was awesome. Just great death metal and an energetic performance.

Again I must say: SEE THIS SHOW!

How much was merch and are they still selling those Pete Sandoval shirts?

When we walked in Grave was in the middle of "You'll Never See.." I asked a couple how long they'd been playing, and the answer was "15 or 20 minutes," so I guess we had missed 4 or 5 songs. The next song was "Hating Life," so that's where this setlist picks up.

Morbid Angel's performance was spot on, but I think the set sort of fell off a cliff after "Chapel of Ghouls," although "Dawn of the Angry" was unexpected and kind of cool. I held out hope for "Visions from the Darkside" or something from the second half of Blessed, but obviously that never happened. I hadn't seen them since 1993.

That is pretty close to the same setlist they did at MDF this year, but still stoked to see it!

...still conflicted on whether or not I want to see this or the Melvins. :(

Well, keep in mind that the last time Morbid Angel toured the US was 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come back around for a while.

Shirts were $20. I didn't see any Pete Sandoval shirts, but that doesn't mean they didn't have them; they had a handful of 'Altars of Madness' shirts, even though they weren't displayed on the wall. I got the last one! =D They had baseball caps, which were either $15 or $20, and they had a poster-flag for $15, which I regret not buying. I think I remember seeing a patch, but I didn't note the price. The only CD they had was 'Illud Divinum Insanus'. I didn't see how much it was, since I wasn't interested in that.

Grave shirts were also $20. I didn't notice what else they had. Same for Dark Funeral. They were basically a filler band for me, so I didn't even glance at their merch table.

Yep, cut out 2 or 3 Covenant songs and swap in Blessed songs. I wasn't expecting the setlist to change at all though.

I forgot to mention one of the coolest parts of the night! None other than Karl Sanders from Nile was in the audience. Got to meet him and get a picture. Very nice dude. Seriously, last night couldn't have been much cooler.

That's cool! Reminds me of when I saw Nile and Gene Hoglan was there. I didn't see him, but Dallas announced it during the set.

Grave played an additional four songs. I walked in during Hating Life, but was getting updates from a friend who was already inside. He didn't tell me what the first two songs were, but the third was "Soulless" and the fourth was "You'll Never See..."

In addition to two different shirts, Grave was selling panties. I asked if they were selling patches, but the lady working the counter said that she never thought that patches would be so popular in the U.S.

Does anyone know who the guest singer was during "Into the Grave"?

Yeah, he was Morbid Angel's sound guy.

I wouldn't mind this set at all. Obviously there's other stuff I wish they would play, but just seeing them headline at this point is enough for me (I saw them at Heavy MTL last year, but only stayed for half of their 8 or 9 song set). I'm pissed though cause I asked for this night off 3 months ago, got put on anyway, and they're telling me that there's nobody available to take the shift. So I'll see what happens...
