People on Facebook have no excuse to not know about shows happening in their area. It's fucking embarrassing to read comments under band statuses after shows with people whining "OMG I DIDN'T KNO THEY WERE PLAYING DAMNIT I MISSED IT" and the sort.

Meh, like all shows get posted on Facebook.

Meh, like all shows get posted on Facebook.

That's very true. There are a LOT of shows that happen in the LA area that don't get posted on Facebook.

Even if you don't have Facebook, any venue that's not someone's basement has a website with a schedule/calendar. If you don't regularly check those, it's your own damn fault.

This site has become my main source for tour news. I don't go to many small-scale shows that you can't find on here since there's not a local scene that is conveniently close to me, so all the bigger tours that would interest me pretty much get covered here.

I do sometimes find out about tours on Facebook first too though.

If a band is posting on Facebook, you can safely bet that they posted about said tour / show.

There is that problem where some of the band posting don't show up in my new feed. I would be on all day and not hear about a tour announcement, then go to their profile and see that it was posted while I was online.

Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svxxPzcsKOI) is the new Liqourbox song. Barney from Napalm Death is featured on it. Yes, its bluegrass and eargasmic!!

Yeah, sometimes that happens to me as well. But unless a show was announced on short notice (like Suffocation / Origin) that shouldn't be a problem, since bands almost always make multiple posts about their upcoming shows. I mean, you have to be pretty out of the loop to not know about this stuff. We have it so much easier now than it was back before the internet.

Well, for instance, you met my friend Bryan at the Phobia show. He doesn't use the computer, so any band news on Facebook is not going to reach his ears. He knows more about shows than I do, but won't find out through Facebook.

One of the most fucked up facebook nights ever. Elaborate please. This sounds like a good story. MPF 10-16-2012, 01:37 AM Elaborate please. This sounds like a good story. This will absolutely be a tl;dr story but for those that will read it, its quite a journey. It starts back last Friday when the Morbid Angel tour came to town. I interviewed Grave and Dark Funeral. I saw grave went outside to get a breather, as any band who has played station 4 they will tell you its one of the hottest venues in North America, as a lot of people are carried out due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. I was abut to go back in and take pictures of Dark Funeral, as part of what I do for interviews as well, when this guy comes up to me and say "Hey, you're that Drummer Guy aren't you?" oddly enough that's how I got the name...That Drummer Guy. I said yes and thanked him for listening to the show and tried to get back into the pit....he grabbed me by the collar and brought me over to the ticket booth and proceeded to tell me for 45 minutes how what I'm doing is wrong. I need to stop interviewing bands like Devin Townsend and Iced Earth and Fleshgod Apocalypse because they don't release quality albums anymore, only quantity albums. and I should never interview bands who are on major labels as they already get exposure. I should only stick with bands who deserve exposure. This conversation went on the ENTIRE set of Dark funeral. Anytime I tried to leave he grabbed me. I Would have hit him but I would have been kicked out and I dont need that as Station 4 is where 95% of all metal shows come i\to in Minnesota. I had friends try to help me get out of the conversation, didn't work. I explained I may get fired for not taking pictures. anything you can think of. Nothing work. And there was no security guards or anything where we were so there was literally nothing I could do. Flash forward to tonight. I copied and pasted a joke about Taylor Swift and how she should make a song called "Maybe the Problem is Me" and this guy comments or she should make a song called "You're not as big as you think you are" and "Stop acting like you are cool" and posted a lot of dumbass song titles that he was directing at me. I then called him out for what he did to me at Station 4, then after a huge bitchfight I deleted he whole post as it was getting on my nerves. he then started messaging telling me I better watch my back of the FBI will be out to get me. He then proceeded to tell me about how since I deal with European Metal bands and all bands who tour the USA with a passport and visa that they are suspected terrorists and are watched over, and since I do interviews with them. I am also on this list because I interview them. and what will I do when a tour bus is raided and I get stuck in Guantanamo Bay for the rest of my days. This continued on for 2 and a half hours on facebook. I was kinda worried about just deleting him as well, what if he does have connections to the FBI and NSA will come after me. *Keep in mind I am barely awake during this so my mind wasn't working at full capacity* After he calmed down about the FBI Shit he was telling me about how he loves to drink. Got a Revolver Magazine as a gift from a friend, and skimmed through it out of curiosity, and realized Rob Zombie has some pretty interesting things to say about the horror genre and why he remade Halloween the way he did...and honestly, I'd wonder how he'd do if he directed a Slender Man movie (over used meme/concept/whatever, but seriously, there's at least three people that want to make one).

...Also, I really could have lived comfortably without picturing Marilyn Manson beating a naked Jonathan Davis with a belt. :barf:

We'll be alright. My area lucked out for the most part. There was some pretty brutal waves by the beach and there was bands of crazy rain and pretty consistent wind gusts, but for the most part it wasn't really that bad. Other places on the East Coast are getting fucking nailed by it though as far as I know.

Also, I hope everyone in the path of the storm is going to be okay. I have some friends in New Jersey and Boston who I haven't heard from (time to try and find them, I guess) since yesterday. Hopefully they won't be hit that badly by the storm though...

So, as usual we're only getting bits and pieces of news here. Is the East Coast still going to be there by the end of the week?

Maybe. As far as news (more obscure - but still related), there's been waves hitting Cleveland through the Erie Canal, a CNN reporter almost got sucked out to sea because of the waves, and the crew of the HMS Bounty (a replica of the famous ship - which was filmed in movies like Treasure Island and Pirates of the Caribbean, among others) 90 miles off the coast of North Carolina had to abandon ship because it was taking on water. One person has died; the others are still alive.

EDIT: Edited information on the ship.

So I am taking some vacation time off of work to record more drum covers (finally, only been over 2 years!) but I have one problem...

My laptop doesn't have a Firewire plug in, the only inputs it seems to have are USB, and my camera only has Firewire and the basic Red/White/Yellow cable.

I know one option of recording the drumming onto a DVD then ripping it onto my computer, but that makes it lose a ton of quality.

Are there any reliable adapters that connect either firewire or the A/V cable to a USB port? I looked some up on Amazon but almost everything has a terrible rating because they aren't reliable.

Being on the internet right now is almost overwhelming. I've had no power since the hurricane hit on Monday. I still have no power and i'm just getting online for the first time this week cause the laundromat has wifi.

Damn did I miss a lot. Epic drops Death Grips, the singer of Suicide Silence died, and there's about 50 tours that got announced that I didn't even check the dates for yet. I'm hoping I get power back sometime this weekend.

What? When?

Early this week a website published an article about the staged album leak and how selling drama instead of albums may actually be a smart business decision. A day later Death Grips responded to the article by posting the emails they got from the Epic representatives after leaking the album. Yesterday Epic announced they were dropping Death Grips.

Well my wisdom teeth are finally acting up on me. May as well make the appointment to get them yanked out rather than checked out, I know for a fact the one where the pain is in my mouth is coming in crooked.

Missed Fun Fun Fun Fest...I was really hoping to catch Napalm Death too.

On the plus side, next Saturday, I'm heading down to Houston for a Renaissance Festival. Any idea on what I should expect (haven't been to one before - I'm going with a German class) guys?

So I just did the greatest interview of all time ever with Marc from the Mentors. This might actually top Impaled- this is the craziest, funniest, most over the top thing I've ever participated in. 40 minutes of the most offensive conversation one may ever hear. I'll definitely post it when I have it transcribed!

I can't argue! It was only around a dozen people! Everyone else on my friend list is a band member (as in touring, international band member), person from a forum I actively post on, local promoter, con organizer, or friend/drinking buddy/gig buddy/con buddy. I've also met all except people from forums and some of the touring band members, so that's a bonus!

Also, deleted three fucking pets. Good grief. Take your pet for a walk/play with it, it has no comprehension of social media, thankfully that's solely our disease.

No the interview went fucking awesome. i will upload it probably Wednesday. i am too tired tonight and I got the Epica tour I gotta cover tomorrow.

I didn't get it on record, but Barney dedicated Scum to me (Well he said That Drummer Guy) because in the interview about how I discovered Napalm Death and Scum was the first song I heard and was a fan ever since.

I doubt anyone is going to post a thread for it, but the Napalm Death show on Saturday was phenomenal. All five of the bands were just fun as hell. :rocker: Definitely the best show I've been to all year in terms of all bands that were playing kicking ass. Since MW didn't play, Exhumed got a longer set which was awesome! They added Decrepit Crescendo, In the Name of Gore, Open the Abscess and possibly one or two more During Open the Abscess, right before the outro, they busted into a cover of Seek & Destroy (~3 minutes of it) before finishing off Open the Abscess. Highlight of the show for me! It pretty much sounded like their Trapped Under Ice cover (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAUUeWzOqXY).

I just watched Aerosmith's new video, What Have Been Love, (it was terrible) because this chick that I went to high school with/hung out with the same people was in the video and I'm pretty sure her whole thing in the video was to be hitting on the chick next to her. She had way more screen time than I thought from what my friends said, so good for her and shit.

Because of an incident where my friend thought the pit was still going at last night's Lamb of God show, she unintentionally wound up punching me in the face and as a result, annihilated my glasses.

Had a band photoshoot scheduled for last night.... drove to my guitarists house (where it was taking place, which is a 61 mile round trip BTW) and RIGHT as I pulled into the driveway my singer called saying we have to reschedule the shoot :flame::finger2::bouville::flame::mad:

Some website, that is usually good about concerts, advertised that Rudimentary Peni were playing a show in LA tonight. I almost lost my shit cause I've never heard of them playing any shows ever, let alone a random show in LA. I frantically looked up info to find out some local band put out a tribute album to RP and it was some record release show for a tribute to RP....:bouville:

I hate when this kind of shit happens. The thing I hate most is when I get concert alerts and it turns out to be some shitty metal club night where whichever dick is running the thing has entered it as a concert on Last.fm or Ents24.com or something and listed the bands they intend to spin songs by as artists appearing. :bouville:
