I don't like Apocalyptica at all, but Metalachi is supposed to come off as a joke. You should definitely check them out if they ever come up to your area. I know the farthest north they go at the moment is Bakersfield, so hopefully they change that soon.

It's election day in Quebec. I voted a few hours ago and I'm pretty anxious. It's going to be a national disaster if that new right wing party (the Coalition Avenir Québec - "Quebec Future Coalition") gets elected, or if the liberal party gets re-elected.

last time they were here was in 2008 except their gear got stolen the night before, so they canceled. Dunno when they were before then. I remember that show because it was at a 21+ venue and I was under 21 at the time and they still let me in. So it's been a while, I'd say at least 6 years since they've played here.

I'll be there!

No I haven't seen them before and it has been a bit since they have came here. I dunno..the more I think about though, the less it seems worth it. Mainly because the people at the place they are playing at can be dicks and I don't see them letting me stay after midnight

Don't give him too much crap for it, it'll wear off. Everyone tries super hard to be what they wish they are in the first few weeks of school. Nerds are the first to try and find alcohol, the classic girl who says "oh, I really don't party a whole lot" and proceeds to join a sorority and go bonkers, and guys who weren't super popular in high school trying to reinvent themselves as the coolest dudes around. I was no better, I spent the first couple of weeks obsessing over texting and being more social that I came off as a total weirdo. You're gonna find out the way everyone you hang out with really is soon enough, and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised. As cheesy as it sounds, trying to act like someone you're not will certainly fail in college, and being yourself and taking pride in who you are will make for an amazing experience.

My roommate situation was kind of funny in retrospect. The three of us were all extremely different people with very different interests, personalities, values and lives. One of them is now one of my best friends and let's just say I don't plan on seeing the other guy any time soon haha.

Precisely why I went to a community college for two years before transferring, to avoid just that. No dorms, no drama, no having to socially interact with these people. I've seen too many friends over the years change once they get to college, and become someone they weren't, or at least someone they never used to be, and I never wanted to be apart of that.

EDIT: I quite seriously lost one of my best childhood friends to exactly what you described. For some kids it's a phase they grow out of in a week or two, for others it's not.

Shit dude, that really sucks. Plenty of my friends changed, but all my really close friends either didn't go to college or went to community college so that problem didn't affect me too much. I feel like those people who did change though genuinely we're like that on the inside and were now given a place to be that person. In the case of myself and everyone else I knew who were weird for the first few weeks, it was like we were ashamed of who really were so we tried to reinvent ourselves, but we just figured fuck it and started acting "normal" for whatever reason- that's how I felt anyway.

Well, I should have qualified what I said by saying it also depends on the environment that those kids are in. Like if some kid who desperately wanted to be "cooler" or whatever the hell joins a frat, then they'll be encouraged to act the way they aren't until they just become that way. I got lucky I guess, I became tighter with my friends at college the more we found out about each other and the more our personalities came out. I guess that's why college has been such an amazing experience on my end, it's the first time I've ever been so socially rewarded for being myself, despite being such a weird fucking dude haha.

Actually, all the friends I had that went to a university straight out of high school changed in some way, and none for the better. Some more so than others. The more impressionable the person is, the worse the effect is.

All the friends I had that went to the community college, and no further than that, not only are the same wonderful people today that they always were, but I'm still actually friends with them.

I've grown to despise "collegeitis" for the plague that it is - it's changed the lives of a lot of people I used to care about, unfortunately.

On an upbeat note... the new Baroness album . I can't stop listening to it. The green side is a piece of goddamn artwork. I've actually grown to like it as much as the Blue Record, which, quite frankly, blows my fucking mind.

Maybe I haven't played enough Thrash shows yet, but back when we opened for Decapitated last year the crowd was INSANE. They treated us as if we were one of the touring bands, which was SICK. Even the more Death Metal oriented show we did in Spokane, the crowd there was baller, and someone asked for my autograph!

Good stuff! I've only been to a couple folk metal shows, but I am always amazed at how great the crowd response is. When I saw Finntroll/Ensiferum, everyone was singing all the words (atleast for Ensiferum) and just going nuts. Alestorm had one of the craziest crowds of any show I had been to at the time, the place was packed and there were nonstop moshers/crowdsurfers the entire time! I feel like with the more extreme black and even some death shows, people seem too cool to get really into it.

They are definitely the most fun shows there. No one is a pretentious douche (USUALLY) and everyone is there to have a good time and enjoy the music!

Here in Seattle we have Folk/Circle/Jig Dancing in the bar area, it is an insane amount of fun :light:

Yeah, but they all lived. Knowing the area and the kids' ages, I'm going to bet they're the "gangsta" type who would probably shit their pants if they saw real urban warfare...since that's a very good chunk of the youth here. :wallbang:

Friend I haven't talked to in a while just messaged me on Facebook:

Yo Jackson, how goes it? Long time no talk.

So I normally wouldn't say anything in regards to this topic, but since I know you I feel like I should say something...

Heads up: this is a really strange topic. I'm taking the time to try and communicate an idea because I think it is worth it, regardless if you believe it or not. You might not even care about this but I'll say it anyways.

Symbols give energy to what they represent. Regardless of the intention of the placement of the symbol, it's shape and energy pay homage to a specific meaning.

More and more I see metal bands (which I still enjoy some of the music) including the symbol of the inverted pentagram and baphomet in their imagery. Now, a while back I didn't think anything of these images. However, I have been doing extensive research into reality of occultism (specifically Satanism) in our world. It is not anything to support. There is plenty of information online regarding the subject: eye witness reports members of the Vatican eating newborn babies alive, women being kidnapped and kept underground only to breed children to be raped and eaten, young children watching their parents be raped and then sacrificed. it goes on and on. Most of the children that go "missing" are simply kidnapped for these secret Satanic child smuggling rings.

I know this sounds fucking crazy and you may not even care, I just felt the need to let you know that this stuff is going on. I provided a few links with some additional information if you have the time.

Sorry if this bothered you.

We were excited to go, but something lame happened. I sent her a text around midnight last night, but her phone didn't receive it until 3:30am:bouville: This cause her and her two year old to wake up and led to her not being able to go back asleep. So my gf is super mad at me for waking her up in the middle of the night and now she's not going cause she's too tired. I'm stuck bringing a friend who doesn't even know the band. Only a few more days until I go back to school next Thursday. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. The next two quarters are going to be intense because I'm taking three upper division physics classes each quarter. For instance, this quarter I'm taking Electrodynamics, Classical Mechanics and a class called Mathematical Methods of Physical Sciences part 2. It won't be so bad, but its going to eat up ALL my time. I'll barely have enough time for my girlfriend, let alone seeing anyone else are going to shows too often. Looks like Cattle Decap will be my last big thing for a bit. :(

Just got back from an AC/DShe show in SF. My buddies' bands Hellfire and Space Vacation were the openers. Both are great bands, but Hellfire is seriously the brightest hope for Bay Area heavy metal right now. Gary and Tom from Exodus love those dudes, and apparently Mark from Death Angel was wearing a Hellfire shirt in Sacramento tonight and wants them to open for DA in Oakland next month. I ended up hanging out backstage after the show with friends and Tom Hunting came out of nowhere and we just started talking haha. He's a really nice and social guy around just regular friends, but I think he gets really shy when fans approach him. We ended up talking about drum stuff, the next Exodus album (they're still working on the songwriting and Andy Sneap will produce if he's free) and Tom's totally unaware of that show with Suffocation that got posted here. Either it's just a one-off or the tour is still in the very early planning stages and that venue just jumped the gun.

I'll put up a full gig review sometime tomorrow. I spent the afternoon watching my boss master this fucking awesome jazz fusion album by a guitarist named Larry Coryell, then I got to see the show, say bye to a lot of friends and chill with Tom Hunting, who along with Dave Lombardo is probably my favorite drummer ever. This was honestly a really, really exceptionally great day in a summer full of them.

Are you trying to book them for a show in the near future or something? I know bands usually have to sign proximity agreements when they play shows and all.

There's a tour in January-February that ends in NYC the day before Winter's Wake starts, and if this tour doesn't come here the opening band will be able to play it.

hahaha no, the band Ceremony. Their new album is Zoo, but they totally departed from hardcore and became like, Morrisseycore. You've never actually listened to Ceremony? Drop what you're doing and listen to Violence Violence and Rohnert Park

oh! haha well I'll check them out.

Went to look for a New Found Glory ticket and they sold out. Cheapest ones on stubhub start at $87.

FUCK!

Yeah dude tix sold out the day they went on sale for Pomona show and that wasn't a tiny venue. The venue kept people up to date the whole day on their facebook; 147 tix left, 43 tix left, up to last 10.

The New Found Glory here show sold out really fast too and it's a decent-sized venue (900 people), I honestly didn't even think they were that popular around here.

I had my last day at Trakworx Studio today- it was a truly amazing experience finally being able to help engineer some recordings and watch a guy as talented and cool as Justin Weis mix and master some really cool albums. We worked on this one EP since my first day and finally finished it today on my last day, and listening to the final product seriously has to be one of most satisfying experiences I've ever had.

Oh no, this wasn't a metal record haha. It was like a classic rock/pop rock/soul thing. Uriah Duffy from Whitesnake actually played bass on it! What did you think it was?

We did do a metal track though, a new song by Bosse De Nage that will be released on a split with Deafheaven pretty soon. It's an interesting song, Harry Cantwell from Slough Feg is their drummer and dude tore shit up on the track. I got to watch Justin master some metal stuff though- a new album by Amenra and possibly some other stuff that I can't remember.

Not sure if I can say yet but I know it's for a Scion tour coming up soon. I think Billy Anderson produced the record but I wasn't sure if Justin did the mastering.

Billy recommends Justin for mastering pretty much every record he does these days, so it's very possible that Justin might have been involved. It sounds like this band is a cool one if Billy is involved, but either I don't know them and don't remember if I sat in on the session (I watched Justin master a couple Billy Anderson albums this summer), or they just went to someone else.

It was AWESOME seeing Cattle Decap play Monolith of Inhumanity in its entirety. I also enjoyed mocking Chris Barnes with treghet. I then went and picked up my girlfriend and we went to Disneyland for a few hours, then went and got pizza in Newport. I just got home and about to crash.

Last nights show with Abigail Williams went AMAZINGLY. I was very concerned since I heard the venue was in uber-Dive bar, so I worried what the stage/sound would be like, but it kicked ass!

It was a great turnout for only being booked 2 weeks ago, and the Olympia crowd totally dug us, we even sold 3 hoodies (which seem to rarely move!!!)

Briefly chatted with Ken (Abigail Williams, tooootally chill and cool guy), he wasn't dead set on this being the final A.W. tour, but he wants to move on to do different things. Apparently he is moving to Portland in a couple weeks too, so judging by the vibe and shit there, he is likely going to keep moving in the direction of the last A.W. album.

Today was my first day back to school for Fall Quarter. I've already mentioned before that its going to be one of the most difficult quarters I take. Well I got up super early and got to school about 9:45 and went to my class. When I got in there, it was a room full of girls talking about nursing. I'm taking an upper division physics class that only has like 3 girls in it. I went outside to check my class schedule and realized I had written down the schedule backwards. I thought I had class on Tuesday/Thursday from 10am to 2pm, but that's my Monday/Wednesday schedule. I actually had class from 2pm to 6pm today. I brought nothing at all to school to read or keep me entertained cause I didn't plan on it and I didn't want to make the 45 minute drive home. I was frustrated, so I called my gf to tell her the mistake and that we wouldn't be going to Disneyland anymore and then I got yelled at, so my day became lame for a bit. I went to the pub to get a beer cause it was hot as fuck and all they had was Coors Light and Dox Equis :barf: Normally there's good selection. I talked to my gf and we decided to try going to Disneyland after I got out. We got there to find out they were closing early tonight.:bouville: Today has not been my day.
