Yeah, it totally wasn't. That venue holds about 650 people and if there were 300 there, that was max. I've been there when it's been sold out, and you can't move.

Waiting for Carcass tickets to go on sale. Thinking about purchasing two tickets and selling the second one. I sold my second Bolt Thrower ticket for a hundred bucks, I am pretty sure I can make some sort of profit for this show. I will be shocked if this show doesn't sell out, especially since Oraclesofagony says the troubadour is 400-500 person venue. :hmm:

That's really awesome of you. Back in 2009, my dad and I went to The Moody Blues on the night they were playing and a guy sold us really good tickets for quite a bit under face value. He didn't have to do that because we would have gladly paid full price or a little more for them.

*sigh* at people deleting Facebook comments.

Apparently the Rock Meets Classic tour people didn't like the fact that I posted who the singers are going to be this year, because they wanted to drag the "announcements" out over the weekend. The poster for it was already on the ticket order page, that they linked when they announced the dates, with all the confirmed names. I just copied it. Idiots.

That's not at all unusual. A lot of people who are just regular guys (i.e. not thieving scalpers) who can't use a ticket for whatever reason do that on the night of the show because some money is better than no money.

Before the show, people don't do that. I just want the money back because I can't use the ticket anymore. Concert venues really need to start allowing returns.

Yeah, I saw that. Even if he means they were playing to the most people that stage can accommodate, 20,000 people watching Anvil on the FOURTH stage while Doro was headlining the main stage? No, I don't think so.

Ah yes, I see what you mean.

And it would be nice if venues would allow for returns. Especially to shows that have tickets that go on sale 9 months or more in advance. It's quite difficult to plan that far in advance and anything could come up on the day of the show.

And the award for most pretentious new album explanation goes to...

"I simply felt the need to delve deep inside of me and run riot in the infinite expanse of the audio cosmos. The result is a friction of mercilessly mechanical, heartless sound collages, combined with my typical melancholy-melodious style. A whole number of souls happen to dwell in my breast, which is why experimentation and the development of my musical existence simply belong together. It’s of secondary importance to me whether this is clever in business terms. To me, it’s all about creating optimum varieties of sound signals which go through the ear straight into the heart. Some call it a vocation. Hallelujah."

The Dillinger Escape Plan
Animals As Leaders
Periphery
Cattle Decapitation
The Ocean
Revocation
Aeon

Interviewing Bryan Bellar and possibly Marco Minnemann of the aristocrats next Friday. and working on Wintersun, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Arsis on that Saturday.

And on top of all of that, I am getting interviewed that Thursday for a local Minnesota Podcast.

So I may be involved with 12 interviews in 4 days. Fuck I will have no voice for my birthday on the 19th. haha

The Op-Amps came out of nowhere and they were attached to backwards diodes that went and made the entire circuit a mindfuck. And then they asked me to design a Common Base amplifier with a voltage gain of fucking -40. IT WAS HORRIBLE WAAAAH.

Amazon AutoRip and CloudPlayer is unquestionably the best thing to come from digital music.

They've just emailed me to say they've added mp3s of 184 albums from my purchase history over the last 9 years to my Cloud Player free of charge.

Obviously it's a potted history because they're not licensed to do it for everything, and some stuff needs to be deleted immediately because it was a gift for someone else, but still. I can now listen to a bunch of stuff at work :D

Well there goes any chance of Bon Jovi ever making a rock album again. Word is Richie Sambora has been officially fired.

Mind you, if they keep Phil X as a permanent replacement, he's a pretty heavy guy. He's largely responsible for the sound of Alice Cooper's Brutal Planet album, not that I expect Bon Jovi to make anything that heavy, but he might at least steer them back towards actual rock music.

Moving on. Been playing a game on my phone (Android) recently called '4 Pics 1 Song'.

It's all in the title really. You get four pictures as clues, and a jumbled set of letters, and you need to get the song title.

Was expecting it to be all shitty pop, but I've had songs by Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, KISS, Lynyrd Skynrd, Soundgarden, Soulfly, Dredg, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Rob Zombie, and several other metal/rock bands.

Not necessarily always the most obvious ones either.

I've got individual in-person interviews with all the Impaled guys set up, along with Leon del Muerte who played on the original album and the re-recording. I'm really excited for this, it's the closest thing to legit journalism that I've ever done (or probably ever will do). In an attempt to make you feel better, years ago my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I had bought tickets to see Overkill, who were and are my favourite band. Well, don't you know it, the day of the show rolls around and I go to my wife, "Shit! Overkill is today!" Of course the Ticketmaster pick-up centre was closed on Sundays, so we couldn't go. So I've been looking for a place to crash fairly recently (long story), and I was planning on moving in with a friend of mine because the rent was cheap enough for me to afford with the job I have right now and I got along with him pretty well, but this past week showed me that this would be a bad idea.

Case in point, right after the Iron Maiden show on Tuesday, I used my own money to buy some beer from a store where we can build our own six packs and we found a bench to sit at while waiting for a ride home. I told him to set them down next to the bench before he sat down so he doesn't break them, because he has an insanely bad habit of being the reason why people can't have nice things (his name is actually used as a verb in our circle of friends to define a situation where someone completely and utterly fucks something up, especially if a person somehow breaks or screws up an object/musical instrument that worked just fine before the person used it), and this jackass sits down and then flat out drops them from where he's sitting about two feet to the pavement and breaks half of them, and then he wonders why I'm pissed at "a complete act of God" and won't let him have any of the other beer or at least have a sip (or in plain English, a large swig) of the Iron Maiden beer I'd traded two of my own beers for.

I was seriously going to let that go and just move on with my life, but then I found out that he had bitched to a mutual friend of ours that I dropped the beer myself and was being an "unfair asshole" by not letting him have any, proving that he has no sense of personal responsibility in the meantime, and then when I told him three days in advance when I would finally have some free time that wasn't absurdly late at night or at a terrible hour between classes and work to give him my half of the rent and move some of my stuff in, he blows me off and tells me he's off in East Austin jamming with some band and to do it tomorrow, a day that I close and have school the next day

...and this is after he won't stop texting me at 3:00 in the morning telling me to hurry and move in. So yeah, fuck this guy. I'd rather couch-hop for a couple of weeks and start working more hours to save up for an apartment than live with this irresponsible dillweed. :hmm:

I had a blast today at the Grindcore fest with my turtleboy. Nausea played four Terrorizer songs!! I was watching Sadistic Intent's set and noticed out of the corner of my eye that the guy next to me was playing air drums perfectly to the songs. I even thought it was amazing how well he could air blast beat. After a few minutes, I looked up to find Emilio Marquez standing next to me. I was completely shocked at this discovery. I never expected to see him at a Sadistic Intent show after the terrible drama that happened between him and the band. I thought it was really cool of him to be there and still in love with the songs he played drums to for 15 years, but it was also sad cause it was the first time for me to see the band without him on drums.

So, Americans, what the fuck is with you and "light" beer?

From what I've been noticing (at least in central Texas, anyway), it's not even light beer, it's cheap beer, since most people will drink any kind of beer if it gets the job of getting drunk done. Walgreens (a major pharmacy chain) has actually cashed in on this phenomenon and even admitted to doing so when they came out with a seemingly exclusive brand called Big Flats that costs about three bucks for a six-pack.

Completely unsurprisingly, it tastes like cat pee.

Not sure if anyone noticed or cared but I was gone for 11 days. I was in the hospital for multiple reasons, the biggest one being that I can no longer take ibprofen.

I am starting to do somewhat better today with my first full day being home. definitely taking it easy as much as possible for the next few days.

I'm so very sorry to hear about that my good friend! I hope and pray your recovery is going good and that you'll stay healthy and won't have to go back any time son.

From what I've been noticing (at least in central Texas, anyway), it's not even light beer, it's cheap beer, since most people will drink any kind of beer if it gets the job of getting drunk done.

This is what surprises me the most. It doesn't get you drunk. Or, if it does, it takes way more beers than a normal one would, so the expenditure is basically the same.

And even if people do prefer it, is there really any need to make it so damn difficult to get proper beer? Every place I went was just Coors Light, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra (nice con, Michelob), etc. And Heineken Light?! What the hell is that, water?! Heineken is already 3.5% as it is!

Also, why is it, in the country where everyone calls Budweiser "Bud", do no bar staff ever know what it is unless you say the full name? Or is that just a Southern California thing?

Welp, all done playing shows until November. This weekend tour Funeral Age did was definitely a very stressful event. Not necessarily in a bad way, but just so much going on at once. DIY tours are really difficult :). Fun shows though, cannot complain about that!

On a bad note...
My TV screen keeps cutting out and going black.... need a new one now :(. Anyone have any horror stories with Insignia? Good prices.....

When I saw a Full of Hell, a "super melodic hardcore" band also opened. People didn't seem to hate it.

Just play. Yeah there's lots of tr00 hxc douches that hate anything with a hint of melody, but I think you'll be fine.

Yeah, you were right.
The show went fine! We did great, even though we played to like a crowd of 8 people. But the drummer for Downpresser came out and talked to us and said we sounded like STYG and that we did really good so I'm happy :D god this show was so stressful. We had so many flakes and had to shovel a lot of our own money to meet our stupid ticket qouta. Overall though it was a really good show.

My school was in lockdown today because some moron who didn't go to the school stabbed 2 people on a school-operated shuttle bus. The kicker is they didn't lock the campus down till almost 2 hours after it happened and the kid who did fled the scene immediately in his car. I understand they value the students safety, but it was really fucking stupid to lock the campus down for an extended period of time multiple hours after they knew about the stabbing and knowing that the kid drove away from the scene. Safe to say the first thing I did when I got home after that shitshow was go to my fridge and crack open a beer

I've had an HTC One almost since it's been out and I've been very happy with it. It's been very fast and hasn't given me any issues to this point. Highly recommend an android though.

I've got an HTC Desire S at the moment, which is making me very tired of Android. But, it is two years old now, so I'm hoping the latest version (Jelly Bean) is a big improvement.

My only reservation about the HTC One is its size.
