Tony Sly, vocalist and lead guitarist for melodic punk band No Use for a Name, has passed away, the Fat Wreck Chords website has announced. The cause of death has not been announced. He was 41.
No Use for a Name formed in the late 1980s out of the punk scene in San Jose, California. As the band's career progressed, they move towards a melodic hardcore and skate punk sound, releasing material with NOFX frontman Fat Mike's label, Fat Wreck Chords. Their most recent record was 2008's*The Feel Good Record of the Year.

The Fat Wreck Chords site wrote, "We have lost an incredible talent, friend, and father-- one of the true greats." Fat Mike noted, "One of my dearest friends and favorite song writers has gone way too soon. Tony, you will be greatly missed."

Sly had also become known for his work as a solo artist, releasing two acoustic albums, 2010's*12 Song Program and 2011's*Sad Bear, both via Fat Wreck. The label also released Sly's two split acoustic albums with Lagwagon frontman Joey Cape,*Acoustic and June's*Acoustic 2.
