this is a 4 year wait, Time has been 6+ years of waiting. Necro is probably just as long.

this is a 4 year wait, Time has been 6+ years of waiting. Necro is probably just as long.(1) It has already been eight years for Necrophagist, so yeah. Obviously.

(2) A four year wait ain't really shit. The wait for Meshuggah was four years, and not many people even batted an eye about it.

(3) If we're talking about bands taking their own sweet time, Pig Destroyer should be in the mix somewhere. It's been five years plus with no signs of life from them. Fuckers.

(4) I won't even bother bringing up Tool (although I guess I just did ). Everybody knows they take forever - it's just a given with them.

Somebody should start a "Get Off Your Sorry Asses and Put Out a New Album Already..." thread.

EDIT: Oh, and on the subject of Necrophagist...I don't even give a fuck anymore. I have Origin, Obscura and Nile to keep me happy. Fuck Necrophagist.

EDIT2: Yeah, I said it.

How long do albums usually take to arrive if you pre-order?

How long do albums usually take to arrive if you pre-order?

In my experience 3-5 days from the ship date.

Very excited for this release, The Faceless are one of my favourite bands and the new songs we have heard thus far sound great.

With Sumerian, the records come the day before the street date and I believe they ship it 2 or 3 days before that.

I'd rather hope they keep it short, long tech death albums tend to drag on after a while. That's why I was happy with the length of Hour of Penance's new album.

Sounds weird. I get the feeling this album is going to really divide their current fanbase, but also open them up to a whole new crowd.

anomynous
08-03-2012, 01:11 PM
Probably.

There's a ton of people being butthurt about it on the video comments and on facebook. So there goes that portion of the fanbase. But then maybe they'll gain some more, along with some of the idiots that say "The Faceless are deathcore, they sucks!!1111"

That teaser sounds really cool to me. I like they are going out of their wheelhouse a bit and becoming more progressive. That being said, I have a feeling that this clip is from one of the more mellow moments so they won't alienate their current audience too much.

They are probably called deathcore just because they are on Sumerian Records. I personally think they have more in common with bands like Obscura than they do with, say, Veil of Maya. Hopefully the new album will help them shed the whole "deathcore" tag.

On a side note, they REALLY stepped it up at Summer Slaughter this year. Their best performance i've seen by them so far. :rocker:

No, they're called deathcore because their first album has occasional breakdowns and metalcore riffs. They completely shed the deathcore tag with Planetary Duality and anybody saying they're still a deathcore band is just an idiot.

Yeah, I forget that the first album had some deathcore influences. I just get tired of people lumping them into that genre, same with the Black Dahlia Murder.

With that being said, I like way their new album is sounding so far.

Definitely proggier than PD. I would say comparisons to Opeth are fair.

I was never really big into this band, I had heard some stuff but none of it ever really blew me away or grabbed my attention enough to listen to more stuff. But, I saw them at Summer Slaughter last night and I enjoyed their set a lot more than I thought I would. So, I'm gonna have to revisit their material and check out this new album.

Alex Rudinger is the new drummer for The Faceless, watching some of his stuff on youtube it looks like he is pretty skilled.

Statement from the band:

“To clear the air on a few details, The Faceless has decided to part ways with drummer Lyle Cooper due to a growing difference in the level of commitment to the project. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and we’re sure he’ll continue to be successful with music. Having said that, we are very excited to announce that Alex Rudinger is our new full time drummer. We just played our first 3 shows with him in Mexico and what he brings to the band both musically and personally, is simply astounding. We are looking forward to a great future with Alex.”

Alex deserves the spot more than any other drummer I know. He is a bad ass drummer and will be bringing a very cool dynamic to the band.

Although I gotta admit that the The Faceless is almost up to Megadeth numbers of member changes.
