Surprisingly very OK with IE's set. and Volbeat needs some Evelyn added. Then again they need someone who sounds like Barney from Napalm Death to give the song justice

IE set is short, but I'm stoked that they're doing Burning Times (didn't play that one on the SymX tour).

This still seems odd to me that Volbeat can headline over a band who's been around for quite awhile & who is more than capable of headlining on their own & another band who between all members has sold tons of records & is hugely popular and who could also do their own headlining tour.

I'll admit I'm late to the Volbeat party. I know they are big in Europe, are they really big enough to headline in America? Not talking bad about them. Didn't listen to them much. Just curious.

I thought the Metallica seal of approval kind of pushed them over the edge of being known to the American public. I know I first heard of them on tour w/ NIGHTWISH a couple years ago. Then I hear them on my local rock radio station last year. I had to check my ears cause I thought I was going crazy. But yeah, that's the only way I can figure it

Volbeat sucks, plain & simple. The vocals alone are making me go insane.

Mature answer. Do you think that I'm the only one who can't stand them?

Volbeat is the most original band I've heard in a long time. My tastes in metal are pretty varied. But at a time when everything that's coming out is so fucking cookie-cutter, it's refreshing to hear a band like Volbeat.

Iced Earth is pretty much my favorite band, so seeing these two tour together is cool. Just wish it was co-headline and there was no Hell Yeah. IE's set is basically what I expected. They had an off-date headline performance earlier tonight. Same sort of setlist as the Symphony X tour but they pulled out some Framing/Crucible songs -- Setian Massacre and Come What May. Buuuuut, they cut When the Night Falls, which is a no-no in my opinion.

WEll I do think it is pretty damn cool of Volbeat to have IE on the tour. They actually demanded to have IE open and they did want them to have the main support slot, but their label said no, they gotta have someone with more commercial appeal as the main support. Which sucks, but the fact that IE is getting any kind of attention from a new fanbase is all good in my book.

I can't wait for Tuesday when i get to hang out with Iced Earth!

I dunno if I'd say original. Def different from most mainstream stuff in the US I will say, sonically. But the vox remind me of Metallica (current era).
