Down is touring the US in the fall of 2012. Haarp is trying to persuade Phil to put them on the tour. I do know that they are playing Pops in Sauget, IL, not sure on the exact date. An official announcement will be made soon.

I've only seen them once, and Phil didn't do all that much talking between songs. I was worried he would, since I know he's notorious for rambling on... I guess he was moderately sober that night?

He's seemed sober the five times I've seen them. He still talks too much. Usually enough that the set feels at least two songs too short.

Unless they go to Austin or S.A. the day before, this will be like, the fifth or sixth Down show I've missed.

Remember in 07 Down had just released a new album and only a year before that was the VH1 Behind the Music in Pantera, both of which helped Down draw good crowds.

In the last few years the crows have dwindled slightly but I believe this is only due to the fact that Down did not tour behind new material like they will be on this tour in Sept. More people will turn out to hear the new stuff if it is good.

Not sure whats going to happen... Kirk is mad and broke up Crowbar. He & drummer Tommy were stranded overseas while the rest of the band went home (including Down bassist Pat Bruders). Kirk is pissed at Pat and the other guys. Hopefully cooler heads prevail.

Kirk was kicked off the plane ride home, along with drummer Tommy Buckley. The other guys flew back to the US leaving them stranded. Kirk posted on his facebook that they were 'faggots' and Crowbar as we know it is over. Pat plays bass in Crowbar & Down. Hopefully everything is resolved but if not I could maybe see this carrying over into the other band. Kirk has deleted that particular post from his facebook...

Kirk just said this

HEY Y'ALL, I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART FOR THE NEGATIVE THINGS I SAID ABOUT MY BANDMATES IN CROWBAR. I LOVE EM LIKE BROTHERS, AND I HOPE WE CAN PUT THIS BEHIND US AND MOVE ON IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION. THEY ARE MY FAMILY, AND FAMILIES HAVE FIGHTS...IT DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T LOVE EACH OF THEM DEARLY. I WAS WRONG, AND I'M VERY SORRY,

In my opinion Down is a legendary band - maybe my favorite at this time. 2 or 3 songs at soundcheck, early venue entry, t-shirt, photo op + signed item and ticket included is a great deal - in my opinion. I am a huge Down fan though.

But I understand you could probably see 5 shows for that price...

I paid the $125 for that in spring 2011 when they came to Philly, it was worth it then. I will just get a regular ticket now though I think. Haven't decided. And they are definitely my favorite band. I cannot wait for this new 7 song album to come out. Who wouldn't want to listen to a song called Witchtripper?

I like it a lot. The vocals sound weird, doesn't sound like Phil. It almost sounds like Maynard James Keenan a little bit. Definitely the most stoner rock type song I've heard from them though.

I thought it did, maybe my ears are messed up lol.

I still can't even tell if that's Phil, I can hear him doing the low range part but I can't tell if that's Kirk with a little cleaner voice or if it is Phil. Anything I find online mentions nothing about any other vocals.

All of the artwork is supposed to form into one picture I think. Each ep is supposed to show a different side of the bands sound. This first one is supposed to be a doom sounding ep while the others will be a mellow, acoustic ep and one will probably be a southern rock styled ep, etc.

The artwork for the purple ep is growing on me. The reaper is cool and looks like maybe an eye crying blood in the upper right?
