Might not be a name many of you recognise, but this is pretty important.

George Marino owned Sterling Sound in New York, and was THE mastering engineer on a whole bunch of classic rock and metal albums.

Apparently he had lung cancer.

Just a few of the bands I know he's worked with either on the original master, or later CD remasters: Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Twisted Sister, Anthrax, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, KISS, Tesla, Great White, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Dio, Molly Hatchet, Kansas, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Saxon, Journey, W.A.S.P., Sepultura, Black Label Society, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Death Angel, Skid Row...

Yeah I saw this on Metallica.com, they said he was a big part of the sound for the Black Album and on. It's always the little guys in the shadows that can make the biggest impact

RIP

Yep. In terms of the majority interest on this site, he mastered 'Brave New World' by Iron Maiden.

I was about to Google his work with Maiden. Thanks.

I believe he was involved with the Eddie's Archive box as well.
