South of Heaven is my favorite Slayer album, and Crooked Cross is my favorite Slayer song. I honestly think it'd be a great set-opening song.

Too bad they can't just play the entire album at mayhem fest instead of busting out a 60 minute set of different songs from different albums(including crappy ones).

Slayer should just ditch the 60 minute set for mayhemfest and just play a short sweet 37 minute set that consists of the entire South of Heaven record. It would accommodate well with the 25th anniversary. Obviously they won't, but a fanboy can dream.

South, Silent, Mandatory. Almost went with Ghosts instead of Silent. Spill the Blood was in consideration, also.

Silent Scream
Behind the Crooked Cross
Dissident Aggressor :light:

If I could pick four then Ghosts of War would be on this. I have a soft spot for covers

South, Undead, Spill

Strangely enough, Ultraboris thought the Priest cover was superior to the original. I disagree, but it's an awesome cover, and the best one could do without a Rob Halford type vocalist.

Silent Scream

This. Behind the Crooked Cross has one of the most bad-ass thrash riffs ever.

2 and 3 is Mandatory Suicide and South of Heaven.

I strongly dislike Mandatory Suicide, one of the rare Slayer song that I don't like whatsoever

Cheers !

Why? I mean, it was never my favorite song, and I don't know how they convinced themselves that Mandatory Suicide and Angel of Death is a great one-two closer, but I'd rather hear it than anything they've done after 90'-ish.

I never understood the hatred towards that album, I loved it when I first got it, and still enjoy it every now and then too :eyes:

I also don't understand why it gets a lot of shit, besides some of the cheesy lyrics. I had no idea more than 3 people actually enjoy this album. eyes:

Well four, including me :D

There's never a boring pick on slayers first six releases(I say six because I'm counting Haunting the Chapel EP which is their magnum opus imo), except for Dead Skin Mask. ;)
