The other big show of this fest. I already knew about this one but I didn't know about the 3 openers.

You could go to both, they're on different days. ;) I really hope Cro-Mags comes back here soon. I regret not going to the Scion show :(

Yeah, I noticed that 2 seconds after I posted. I bet Madball would be sweet, but I honestly like SOIA and Cro-Mags way more each. And I only really like a couple AF albums anyway.

We were watching the hardcore show at Webster Hall – featuring Sick of it All, Cro-Mags, and VOD – when all hell broke loose upstairs. Harley Flannegan, founding member of the Cro-Mags stumbled into the VIP lounge with a knife. Security mobilized in a hot minute and beat the shit out of him. It took no less than six beefy dudes to control the madness. Blood was everywhere, and bone protruded from his shin.

Cops quickly appeared and took him away in cuffs. Not before he had already stabbed some dude in the chest (said victim left the scene with a bandage over the wound). Because of the violence the rest of the show was canceled. The remaining bands promised to reschedule the show. To be fair, Webster Hall security contained the situation professionally. Lots of drunken, pissed off hardcore fans were on edge after the cops shut down the show, but the scene was cleared without further incident.

UPDATE: GlueHC is reporting that one of the two victims stabbed was Cro-Mags bassist Mike “The Gook” Couls (also formerly of Cold As Life and Sworn Enemy)

What the fuck! Wonder what happened.

from a guy who was at the show:

My friend works security at webster and said Harley was not allowed in and there was a picture of him to be not allowed in at the door, but somehow he got in... stabbed the security guy who wouldnt let him upstairs where the bands friends and family where/VIP. Then he got into an altercation with like 10 DMS Crew guys after he stabbed the kid filling in that night for Cro Mags cause the SOIA bassist usually does it but i guess he wasnt beat for a double set. THe Crew dudes beat the hell out of Harley breaking his leg, ect... it wasnt security. fucking sucks.

I love Cro-mags. I wouldn't expect any less of my favorite criminal scumbag bad! Well, slightly behind blood for blood, who just raped a 13 year old girl. :eyes:Assault with a deadly weapon is not "metal". It's not cool, or even close to it. It's despicable, deplorable, criminal behavior that borders on sociopathic. Sounds like he was high as fuck at the time, but that doesn't matter. Dude should be locked up. Period.

...and raping a 13-year-old? That's a badge of courage in your eyes?

Look, man - I know you're just fucking around, but seriously, what the fuck? You're scaring me, man.

What were the reasons for his actions? Jealousy? This story is decades old. There is bad blood here that goes way, way back - and unfortunately, a lot of the fans of this band have taken it upon themselves to take sides in the feud as well. It makes for a bunch of ego-stroking, juvenile horseshit if you ask me. It isn't cool in the least. It's an unfortunate distraction from the fact the "Age of Quarrel" might just be the finest hardcore album ever released, and the band could have skyrocketed into the stratosphere in terms of fame and influence, but instead they just flushed it all down the toilet and some of them even lost their identities in the process. It's fucking sad, is what it is. :(

Cro-Mags statement:

WE... as a band are truly sorry for the way it all turned out in every regard even the ex-member who's family is now effected by his choices. Our prayers go out to them as well as Mike C., and the others who were hurt, but it was 'his' choice to come to our concert with a hunting knife, standing by our dressing door. Who knows what his actual intent was, obviously he wasn't there with it to cut bread for a peace offering as he was heard saying outside he was putting an end to us playing without him. Let's move on now & stop the trash-talking. Keep that PMA - that's what we are all about.

Watching what hardcore bands do outside of making music has always been like a soap opera. A very crime ridden, drug induced, messy soap opera. But a soap opera nonetheless.

“According to Harley, he was invited to the dressing room back stage and instead of being welcomed as he expected he was jumped by a group of men. “When I saw that door get pulled shut I was literally fighting for my life. I was afraid these guys were going to kick me half to death, roll me down the back steps and that no one would see it… and there would be no witnesses and that would be that….and all I could think about was getting home safe to my kids…I wanted to save my life, to protect myself and these guys were trying to do me in.”

From Consequence of Sound:

At this summer's CBGB Festival at Webster Hall in Manhattan, ex-Cro-Mags bassist Harley Flanagan allegedly attacked two current members of the band with a knife and bit one of them on the face. He was charged with second degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Today, DNAinfo reports that those charges have been dropped. Flanagan's lawyer Sean Parmenter told DNAinfo that he believed prosecutors dismissed the case due to a lack of evidence. Flanagan claimed that the current Cro-Mags members, Michael Couls and William Berario, attacked him first, and he was acting in self-defense.
