why do people do this

What do you mean?

Is that particular place in the middle of nowhere?

I've been hearing that some of the shows at the Ballroom in SF have been way undersold and canceled... I have a hard time believing Steve Vai is gonna come close to selling out that place.

I think the problem is that besides the Fillmore there's no middle ground venue between Slim's and the Regency. The only really packed shows out of the many I've attended there have been Amon Amarth, Sleep, and Tim and Eric. Every other show I've seen there has been half capacity or less. I truly have no clue why bands rather play a third capacity Regency instead of a packed Slim's, but they do regardless.

May go to this. Never seen Vai before, but I don't wanna go if it's too expensive.

Official announcement finally, 3 days after I found the complete route on the Facebook BandsInTown app.

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_tours/steve_vai_north_american_tour_dates.html

Only error on my end was the Morristown, NJ date. That one is September 8th, not August 8th.

If I had the money, I'd be going to 4 of the 5 New England shows (the 2nd NH date is the same night as KISS/Crue in Mansfield).

I'm definitely going to Boston & highly considering Concord because it's on a weekend and I've always wanted to see a show at that venue.

Unless it gets moved to the Myth which I hope it does since you can sneak in through the VIP/willcall line and get a super good place. My dad and I always get right behind the soundboard, in the center of that small wall, right in front of the main bar.

Can't say I'm sure. Only saw him once and the show was riddled with technical issues & it ran late so I had to bolt right after the show to catch the train before service was shut off.

Friday the 13th in Boston, eh? I might have to splurge on this. Sex and religion is actually one of my favorite albums ever, although I'm sure he won't play from it.

Saw the Concord NH show last year and thought it was great. Walked away very impressed and would see him again if he came around.
