Woah what an interesting Agalloch set. Kind of a cool idea to focus on their early material when most bands seem to forget about their early albums.

Without remembering EVERY song from Absu's set, I am sure they played the following:

Swords and Leather
Earth Ripper
Pillars of Mercy
Manannan
Never Blow Out the Eastern Candle.

They played tight as hell. Best I've seen them.

I saw on twitter that the cops showed up at some point. What's up with that?

Basically Autopsy started way late because they were having guitar issues and they had to be done by 2 AM. So they were told to stop but kept playing anyway, even when the venue turned off the PA. They said something like "We're gonna keep playing til the cops raid this place!" There was still a hell of a pit going too!

So yeah, that set was their intended set but after Voices the PA was off. I believe it was Service for a Vacant Coffin they played with the PA off.

Aside from that, it was a great start to the fest! So far Eyehategod is my favorite performance. Also met John The Drummer and idrinkwine, both really cool guys! I'm gonna be wearing a blue Corrosion of Conformity shirt and my ketchup costume during Ghoul. So if anyone else on here sees me, say hi!

So I'm relaxing for the next hour before I go off for today, so I'll write a quick review. I'm sorry I didn't meet you guys. I met Blackened12 before the doors opened and we decided we wanted to be on rail for Agalloch. Anyways so we got there and hung out until Extermination Angel came on. They we're okay, the vocalist was weird as fuck and going nuts the whole time. The only thing I could even focus on their whole set though was the vocalist's Fanny pack. Seriously man what the fuck was up with that!?
Next came up was Die Pigeon Die they were great for the most part, but the shit they did with one of the guitars(I'm not sure what to call it, since I don't play guitar, but if you were there you know what I'm talking about) was annoying as hell and really ruined some of the songs for me.
Then came Needful Things who were pretty much a bunch of Nasum fanboys. They also sounded great, the vocalist kicked ass. They were definitely the surprise of the day.
Till then the show was calm, the show picked up here when Rorschach came on. I really liked what I had heard from them before, so I knew they were going to be good, but no way did I expect that they would be one of the best bands of the day. They destroyed, the guitarist was going crazy the whole show and thankfully he was right in front of me. It was great and all the stuff they played sounded awesome.
While the crowd was a little crazier,Dying Fetus made them go all out. Everyone was going nuts the whole set and it was awesome. The band sounded fucking amazing too, 100x better than they did at Summer Slaughter. The set was great and the new songs sounded amazing. I'm pre-ordering their new album for sure. Also they did a performance video for one of their new songs and the camera was on me and Blackened for a good portion of the crowd shots, so there you have it, two MS members in a Dying Fetus video :D
I was exhausted from Fetus so I was calm during Absu, though that didn't stop people from going crazy. Absu sounded awesome though, the best sound of the night probably. Their blackened thrash sounded great live. Though the drummers stage bantar seemed a little over the top  No problem though for they sounded awesome.
Then it was Eyehategod who really surprised me as well. They we're all going crazy the whole show and were heavy as hell. The vocalist was like crazy in a druggie kinda way. It was all good.
Agalloch was awesome, I was disappointed in the setlist for I wanted some Ashes song. Though all the songs sounded amazing, so it was great. They sounded beautiful and I would love to see them again.
Finally after 8 hours with standing on rail, i left it to go in the back for Autopsy. Unfortunately, they took forever to get ready due to sound problems. They came on around 1 and I was dying of exhaustion. I decided to leave around 1:30 after hearing my favorites and being tired as hell. They were heavy and the vocals were amazing. Plus I was in the pit for Twisted Mass of Burnt Decay and In the Grip of winter, which were the highlights of my night! I was upset I missed half their set, but I was satisfied for the day. Now as I post this I am off for DAY 2

oh and that story about the COPS and Autopsy sounds fucking awesome. Play till the cops show up and all the sound is shut down? NOW THATS A TRUE BAND AND THAT IS HOW ALL BANDS SHOULD PLAY WHEN HAVING TO GET THEIR SHIT CUT OFF. Some one should set a rule for that. :fist:

What Agalloch played sounded great, but what a disappointing set. I think some of you guys are the only ones that liked it. They got very little crowd reaction save at the end of songs/the times the crowd thought the songs were over. If they neglect to play anything off of Ashes or Marrow, which isn't a good idea, they should at least play either In The Shadow of Our Pale Companion or the Hawthorne Passage.

Absu was killer. Never Blow Out the Eastern Candle was :drool:

I was thinking the whole time that the only reason this set was so good for me was because it's the 4th time I've seen them. I'd have been bothered if it was my first time and I'd not heard Limbs, Pale Companion or Bloodbirds. They wanted to play some rarities, which is a treat for some, and not for the others.

Being in the pit when Napalm Death played the breakdown to Suffer the Children was the most brutal moment of my life. My new favorite band of the fest so far.

Glad you enjoyed Napalm. They truly are a sight to behold on stage. Barney is one of the best front mans that I have ever witnessed, AND ALSO ONE OF THE NICEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER MET still to this day. After a show that i saw them play in 2009, Barney got off stage and chatted for awhile with me and a couple of other fans that stuck around after the show was over. Barney also gave me an un opened cold frosty water bottle which I had yelled at him to give me while he was still on stage before coming down to hang out with us for a bit. He also signed my water bottle, and my friends parking ticket, and then went out side to sign some stuff from this fan in a wheel chair. Good stuff. I hope I get to see napalm death again some day. If you thought they were brutal, then you MUST see them play much smaller more intimate clubs and venues where the capacity is much smaller and more claustiphorbic because that shit is FUCKING BRUTAL, my friend. Trust me.

Glad everyone is having a blast. Awesome sets all around by all the bands. KEEP EM COMING. :rocker:

Eight pages of setlists and no Saint Vitus or Pentagram? I can only assume they're like the last two bands on or something, because otherwise you people are fucked up.

This. Add YOB though

That name change was after the lineup was announced, solidified, etc. Actually, it was like 2 weeks ago...

I liked reading this big running thread for the whole festival, but this thread is kind of a mess. The set lists are all scattered, you can't always tell which bands played on which days and you can only tag 20 bands per thread so some of the big name bands towards the end will not get tagged. I think we should move this thread to general chat and create a separate thread for each day with the set lists all consolidated in the first post. Anyone up for that task?

So, should we leave the main thread in this forum or move it to general chat? I think I might be leaning towards leaving it here because of the gig reports, etc.

Electric Wizard don't have a song called come my fanatics, I believe the song that they played was Return Trip since its the only song off "come my fanatics" that they play, and have been playing for the last couple of years.

Glad everyone had a blast. I think the fest would have been slightly better if I was there to bask in all the glory ;)

My top ten bands of the fest! Wasn't too hard, really...

1. Electric Wizard *
2. Infernal Stronghold
3. Church of Misery
4. Noothgrush
5. Cough
6. YOB
7. Disma
8. Napalm Death
9. Morbid Angel
10. Dragged Into Sunlight

*It feels a bit unfair to put them as #1 because like many, many others, I wasn't exactly grounded in reality... ;) but from what I've heard they probably would've been my #1 anyway.

Will add a review later... in the meantime you guys should also post top tens.

I was going to to seperate band reviews, but I'd be sitting here for days, so I'll just sum up my time in one simple post.

It was great to meet up with Garagemetal, Masterguy, Razor, and Voidflame. Wish I lived on your side of the states so we could all kick it more! Maybe next year :D.

Me and my crew from Seattle ended up replacing our PANTURRRUUUH-ing with "Cranking it like Soulja Boy" and yelling "YOOOOUUUUUU" after we hung out with Horna in our hotel room and offended one of their guitarists after yelling PANTURRUUUHH ("You do not disrepect Pantera.")

Night one was awesome, but it didn't give me the whole feeling of what MDF was all about. The outdoor stages were my favorite by far, the whole vibe was awesome. My only real gripe about the fest itself was the merch set up. It was such a clusterfuck and so hard to find what I actually wanted that it kind of led me away from it, but oh well.

I will admit, I hate Baltimore, every other store was closed, it was freakishly humid (Getting back into Seattle on Monday night was a godsend) and yeah, it is just not my place.

My top 10 bands of the weekend in no particular order....

Absu- Even with the sloppiness near the end it was amazing to see them again!
Napalm Death- Just... holy shit, one of the most intense live bands ever.
Morbid Angel- I was worried about how it'd turn out.... but shit... AMAZING setlist. I was stoked when the cops showed up, it's too bad they didn't bust into Radikult.
Tsjuder- That cover of "Sacrifice" stole the show, ABSU-lutely amazing.
Horna- I only caught a few songs, but it was sick as hell!
Brujeria- Their new guitarist sucks ass, but they are a band i've been dying to see!
Haemorrhage- I'd had never heard them prior to the fest, so fucking sick!
Ghoul- Surprisingly same as Haemorrhage, super fun band to see live, I am a fan!
Bethlehem- I only know of Bethlehem since my friend used to do vocals for them, but they were amazing!
Macabre- Way better sounding than when they toured here last year, fun band, and the Zodiac killer shot me \m/

There is so much more I'd like to type about all of the bands, but I would be here all day, and I am still tired as shit. Here are some random things that made the weekend kick ass.

- Hanging out with Horna
- Dancing to Soulja Boy
- Coming up with the side scroller beat em up starring Frank Mullen and his only move is his chop/wave.
