Suicidal Tendencies and Morbid Angel are playing on the same exact night on the 29th of November. Morbid Angel show is about an hour away from my house, and the Suicidal Tendencies show is less than ten minutes away from my house(same venue that Neurosis and YOB are playing at, plus I've been to this venue like a zillion times for hip hop/metal shows. I usually end up having a smashing good time!). Kinda wanna go to MA show a lil' more but at the same time i KNOW i'd be saving a good amount of gas if i just hit up the ST show. Love both bands. Fuck me. :hmm:

EDIT: On a side note. I ended up missing Morbid Angel last year because they were playing on the same night that Saint Vitus played(which was at the same venue that suicidal tendencies are playing at). :hmm:

Everyone is involved in setting the price. The band need to be paid, they have a set fee and that is the same no matter the size of the venue, the promoters have their cut, the venue costs a set amount to hire, etc.

Schenker's fees are high. Always have been.

They'll all be as boring as each other, if that helps? Oh, and it'll be long. Those're the only consistencies I've ever noticed, at least.

The best you can probably hope for, in terms of predicting what they'll play, is that perhaps some songs, like Alive and Jeremy, are slightly more likely than others.

Yeah I was checking out setlist and they're very long. I'm pretty sure it's an evening with type situation. At least I didn't pay for my ticket...

Nope, they just do 2 and a half to 3 hours every night headlining. Same deal as Bruce Springsteen - they just play a proper long headlining set and change it up every night playing whatever they want to play. I've seen setlists featuring literally none of their hits before. Despite their fame, their fanbase is aware of most of their catalog so they get away with it, too.

More bands should be like that, honestly.

ravenheart
11-25-2013, 03:06 AM
More bands should be like that, honestly.

I would LOVE it if bands with solid catalogues, like Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Overkill, Testament, etc. did that.

Never going to happen though.

At least Priest did that one tour where they played a load of rare stuff.

It's nice to see Soundgarden are doing it now. The shows aren't as long, but they're pulling all kinds of things out in the sets.

I just saw them a couple weeks ago and they were way better than I expected. That being said, I don't know if I'd pay $30 in a tight on cash situation. The set is still ~75 minutes despite only being 11 songs.

Sorry to hear that. I'd love to be gloating about how awesome Corrections House was, but due to a bunch of details no one cares about I didn't end up going. The silver lining is that I got caught up on sleep since pulling an all-nighter for Black Friday shopping (see other thread), so at least now I'm in good shape to drive my wife and kids back home to Ohio today. That's kinda important, so yeah. I'll just have to see CH another time.

EDIT: TBH, the main reason I wanted to see CH is that I never got to see Sanford with Minsk before they called it quits. I've seen Bruce three times (solo, Bloodiest and Yakuza) and Scott twice (Shrinebuilder, Neurosis), so it was really all about seeing Sanford Parker and Mike Williams on the same stage with the others.

The next opportunity I have to see Cauldron (Sunday) is at a fundraiser for a local hospital where music students will be playing Beatles songs and songs from the 70's. Cauldron will be doing a short set there. I'm hoping to make it out to that one.

I still expect them to be entertaining. I just don't expect them to blow me away with anything amazing. They'll do their thing, they'll be good at it, but it'll be the equivalent of a "hits" set. And I don't need to save 20, that's just a cheap evening out.

Deathrattle / Fuck Your Enemy Medley
Ending of Domination / second half of Hollow Medley
Waiting For The Turning Point
Wrecked Like Clock Work (Arson Anthem... I don't know their material, but its on mostly every set I've seen)
A New Level

He also had an Agnostic Front cover, and another song which I could not tell who or what it was, but it was definitely a cover. Phil said the guys at the radio station asked them to play it.

I think Ghost may be at the Granada april 22. Ticketmaster has a band called "Ghost Ad" playing Lawrence on the 22nd. Im assuming that's Ghost, in that case they may do a spring run

Yes, it's Ghost. That's their official name in North America.

4rilla. Damn shame Enslaved aren't just doing a headline tour. Their headline run in 2013 with Pallbearer and Royal Thunder was

I've given Enslaved a few tries, they just don't really click with me. We'll see if seeing them live will change my opinion.

Glenn Hughes added to the Concert For Jon Lord. Will be reuniting with Deep Purple :D

Paul Weller also added... bit left field, not sure how he's going to fit in, but still awesome as I'm a big fan.

Is the area bad? I've never actually been there.

"Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin. Ya never come out the way ya come in."

Like everything around the greater Boston area, used to be awful all the time, now it's only awful if you have to live there. The saying just stuck. The Lynn Auditorium is actually in the same building complex as Lynn city hall and at the corner of probably the busiest intersection in the whole city. You'll be fine. The auditorium has some of the better acoustics of the small/mid-size theaters around here.
