Blabbermouth (http://legacy.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=170828) is just saying that amazon has a May 29 release date for the US, May 23 for Japan, but there isn't really a thread for this yet and it's been in the works for nearly 2 years.

The word going around the Rush forum lately is that they're getting back their more prog/conceputal material on this album. Supposedly Alex has busted out the double neck guitar for the first time in ages to record some of the new stuff. Also, there's supposed to be at least one long epic song on it.

Very much looking forward to this:rocker:

Not necessarily.

If you're referring to where they'll play, at least around here it will be at the local arena if it's a fall tour. Our amphitheater season is from memorial day weekend through labor day weekend due to the fact that we actually have weather here and it gets a lot colder in the fall.

Hilariously it's released here the day before, but as one of those shitty "fanpacks" with a special edition of Classic Rock Magazine about the band.

Usually those edition come with exclusive bonus tracks and free things like metal pin badges or something. I bought the first Slash one... the magazine was lame, the bonus tracks turned out to not be exclusive.

The Rush one has no bonus tracks at all, so people are going to pay extra for a shitty magazine and a keyring? Please. To make it worse, they're not releasing the standard edition of the album until July 9, just to make sure big Rush fans are forced to buy the expensive version.

If I were a Rush fan I'd be pretty pissed about now. If the whole album is as heavy as the music in that teaser trailer though, I'll look into this disc.

ravenheart
04-11-2012, 07:07 AM
Press release I got this morning confirms the same thing, that there will be a "full-scale North American tour" announced soon.

Also, the part about science fiction writer Kevin J. Anderson writing a novelisation of the album's story... :eyes: Which is: "“CLOCKWORK ANGELS” chronicles a young man’s quest across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy as he attempts to follow his dreams. The story features lost cities, pirates, anarchists, an exotic carnival, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life."

That doesn't sound like something which needs to be novelised.

Their 70s material is considered to be prog metal. Plus, with Bastille Day Rush wrote the very first Iron Maiden song:D

Uh, no.

Yes, you need to talk to more Rush fans because a lot of them consider a good portion of their 70s material to be metal. I'm not talking about metal by today's standards but what it was back in the 70s. They may not have been full on metal but they certainly wrote some metal sounding stuff. Songs like Anthem, Beneath Between & Behind, Bastille Day, Overture/Temples Of Syrinx and all of Hemispheres should be considered 70s prog metal.

Sweet.

RUSH's first new collection of original material in over five years and their first studio release via Anthem/Roadrunner Records, "Clockwork Angels", is likely to sell between 85,000 and 95,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on June 12.

RUSH's 18th studio album, "Snakes & Arrows", debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart in May 2007 with sales of 93,000 copies. The disc was the first collection of all-new RUSH material since 2002's "Vapor Trails" and the 27th RUSH release to make the Billboard album chart. The band's chart peak was in 1993, when "Counterparts" debuted at No. 2.

I read part of an interview today with Alex Lifeson, he said on the first leg of the tour they will play most of the new album. If this has been mentioned already my mistake. I don't really like that idea, but I am sure it will be great no matter what they play.

Personally I'm okay with them playing most of the album for two reasons. One I love the new record, two they play 2+ hours so there is plenty of time for older material. I can see your point though.
