View Full Version : Christopher Amott out of Arch Enemy, replaced by Nick Cordle of Arsis

Is it “Leave your band for the second time!” month in Sweden or something? First, Peter Dolving announced that he has re-quit The Haunted. And now Christopher Amott (above left) is out of Arch Enemy again, following his reunion with the band in 2007, two years after they parted the first time. Sheesh.

Here’s a statement from Arch Enemy’s official website:

“We thank Christopher for the time he’s worked with the band and of course wish him the very best in his future endeavours.

“Thankfully, there is no drama behind the scenes here. This is the best way forward for all involved. Christopher simply isn’t into playing extreme metal anymore.

“We have already chosen and rehearsed with a new guitar player and we will complete the ’Khaos Legions’ 2012 touring cycle as planned. We are highly motivated and look forward to continue spreading our music around the world!

“Finally, our deepest thanks go to the ARCH ENEMY fans, whose amazing support and belief inspires us ever onward.”

Well, at least this parting is amicable, which was apparently not the case with Dolving and The Haunted. Especially ’cause in this case, Amott’s brother is, of course, Arch Enemy’s other guitar player, Michael Amott.

Meanwhile, Nick Cordle (above right), of Arsis fame, is taking Amott’s place in the band. I’m not sure if this means that Cordle is out of Arsis (who may very well be on a hiatus anyway — they did their last tour without Jim Malone, which is like Megadeth touring without Dave Mustaine) or he’s gonna be in two bands now. In any case, he’s a talented musician, so I’m sure he’ll be a more-than-able replacement for the departed Amott brother.

But it is kinda funny that there’s now a Virginian in Arch Enemy.

EDIT: Glad I saw them with him in the band.

Sorry, Nat, it's on the Arch Enemy site (http://archenemy.net/2011/) too.

Looks like Nick was telling me the truth about Arsis probably breaking up. The proof is in the pudding right here.

I'm happy for him, he is a hell of a guitarist and deserves to be in a fully functional, working band.

Glad I got to see AE with Chris and Arsis with Nick minus the singer but the roadie did an awesome job.

I don't even think Arch Enemy has played here since Chris re-joined. Fucking bullshit.

That's how I saw them too. I honestly thought it was just as good without James.

THe other Fill In, Brandon is only 19 and does a fucking awesome job at playing Jame's style. He's a touring guitarist now and doing very well with it.
