Heard some info on Uproar last night.

Godsmack or Staind (not both)
Lacuna Coil or In This Moment (was told Century Media has a band on the tour)
Shadows Fall
Blessed Be The Broken Heart

Those are the bands I am hearing were in talks to play. We shall see what happens.

they've been getting booked on more mainstream tours for awhile, this doesn't worry me as much(especially when I may miss their upcoming run with Fear Factory)

also it'd be kinda cool to see Blessed By A Broken Heart, I feel like they're fun live

That isn't headliner right? Neither of them are big enough to fill a amphitheater.

Thats all I know & I'm not even sure those bands will be on the festival, they were in talks a while back. Apparently they put the line up together at the last minute after they announce Mayhem Fest.

Godsmack may be big enough to fill an amphitheater. When Disturbed/Godsmack headlined Mayhem last year the place was more packed for Godsmack and people were leaving for Disturbed.

That could be true but remember people also came for Disturbed and other bands.

Mainstream people love Disturbed but having Godsmack advertised as your headliner for a amphitheater will leave that place looking empty.

That doesn't necessarily mean all the people watching Godsmack were there to see Godsmack. Many of those people could have just been waiting to watch Disturbed. I'm sure if you switched Disturbed and Godsmack in the lineup you'd see a similar result.

That being said, I do believe Godsmack are big enough to fill an amphitheatre. Maybe not sell it out, but these tours usually don't actually "sell out" more than just fill 2/3s of it and then just sell the rest of the tickets at a discount price or the organizers buy the remaining seats so it can be billed as "sold out"

I could see Adrenline Mob headlining the side stage or at least 2nd to close.

And I really don't think Godsmack could headline a amphitheater. Are they really still that popular or well known?

im guessing you guys are completely forgetting about the godsmack/staind tour? some of the venues on that are pretty fucking big, and a number of them are amphitheaters.

besides, headliner of a package amphitheater tour doesnt necessarily have to big enough to be able to fill them on their own.

If that lineup got together in 2002, I'd be all over that

Now: meh. I like Shinedown, but I wouldn't pay a lot of money to see them live, and their new album isn't that great. Godsnack is ok, so is Staind, but they fall into the Shinedown category for seeing live. Papa Roach hasn't released a good album since lovehatetragedy. I'd only want to see POD play "sleeping awake" and Buckcherry would guarantee a lot of female attendees, so they have that going for them.

Radio hard rock is as hit-or-miss as most metal subgenres. You have the good ones (Shinedown, Seether, 10 Years), and you have your bad ones (Art of Dying, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman...holy shit that sucks that all 3 of those bands are Canadian). And yeah, there's nothing necessarily all that different between the style/sound of the good and bad ones. It all comes down to the songwriting quality for me.

See, and even these are debatable. I agree on Shinedown and 10 Years. Seether I believe used to be like that, but they definitely dipped in popularity and song quality with their last album. Three Days Grace I believe is in this same category. They were huge with One-X, and that album is excellent, but Life Starts Now didn't have any singles that were as big or as good, and that hurt them.

Nickelback (flame shields up) I believe are one of the better ones as well, since they do a good job (imo) at writing different kinds of songs, and they are all good musicians (even if their songwriting doesn't always show it.

Personally, I would say:

Good:
Avenged Sevenfold (if they're gonna get thrown in here)
Slipknot
Bullet for my Valentine
Shinedown
Stone Sour
Nickelback (MANY will disagree with me)
Evanescence
Skillet
Five Finger Death Punch
Korn
Volbeat
Alter Bridge
Sixx:AM
10 Years

Middle:
Disturbed (too overplayed for most people)
Godsmack
Staind
Seether
Three Days Grace
Chevelle (although they are horrible live)
Papa Roach (I think many feel strongly about them one direction or the other)
3 Doors Down
Halestorm (I don't like them, but I think others do)

Bad:
Theory of a Deadman
Hinder
Art of Dying
Buckcherry
Pop Evil
My Darkest Days (I find them funny, but they aren't a good band)

I pretty much just used those 6 bands as an example. Seether's actually one of my favourite bands, even though Holding on to strings better Left to Fray was an average at best album (same with the latest Shinedown and Breaking benjamin albums), but I love all their stuff before that.

As far as your list goes with organizing them into categories, many I agree with, a few here and there I don't (Nickelback being the obvious one), but it still goes to show that even though a lot of these bands sound fairly similar, you'll find a lot of people who love some and really dislike the others. Magson pointed out the "hypocrisy" in this thread. I'm not sure if he was referring to what i'm talking about here or something else, but it's just the way it works with me and apparently other people. Same reason why I dig Killswitch Engage, Unearth, Shadows Fall, and All that Remains, but not As I Lay Dying, despite many people (fans and non-fans alike) saying they sound very very close in style to those bands. It just comes down to the songs and little things here and there.

I will question why you're including bands like Slipknot, Korn, and even FFDP and Godsmack in your list. I understand those bands get tons of radio play (maybe not so much Korn these days), but I wouldn't say their cut from the same cloth as the other bands we've mentioned.

TOAD is actually the worst band out of them all. They wanna be just like Nickelback, but they fail at it. Worst live band of all time as well.

I think Nickelback are the ones who signed those guys if I remember correctly. I think they signed them to their record label.

Only one I know for sure is POD.

One thing I can't figure out, is Rock Allegiance a tour or just a one-day thing in Hershey? Several of those bands are ones rumored to be on Uproar. If there's crossover between the two, then the rumors of Papa Roach and Buckcherry could still be valid, and it leaves some hope that maybe STP is involved on Uproar, doing the 'Core' 20th-anniversary shows, but that seems pretty specific for a touring fest like that.

A few of the dudes from SOTY are in that band Greek Fire that's having some moderate rock radio success, at least here in St. Louis, perhaps for obvious reasons. They're just taking a breather, but I think they'll be back soon. The singer, Dan, has a party punk side project called the Fuck Off and Dies, they play little shows around here for 5 bucks every so often and I haven't made it out to one yet. The bassist from SOTY is also in that band DRUGS that was hot for a minute.

Nope. WWE "indefinitely suspended" him because of a event he did during one of their shows.

It was a big thing they did so that he could have the time off for Fozzy.

WWE advertised his return from the suspension last night and showed tons of Fozzy footage in doing so good to see the 30 day suspension over and the balance of him being available for the big wrestling show(s)

Papa Roach is out. In an interesting turn of events, HellYeah was added to Desert Uprising day 2 (Uproar Fest). I wonder if they might be added on to replace Papa Roach on Uproar?

And as stated above, predictions. I have not heard much in the way of Uproar Festival yet.

A7X playing again, my god. Highly doubt that happens. I can see Stone Sour, Three Days Grace and Papa Roach playing.

A7X was supposed to do a small run opening for Iron Maiden in August. A better offer came along is what I was told so I am going to assume Uproar or Metallica. Has to be one of those two and I doubt its Metallica...

I can see Papa Roach doing it again since they dropped off so early last year.
