No bands yet, but announced it will take place ABOARD AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS HORNET, in Almeda, CA on August 25.

Now that right there is pretty awesome.

Having a metal festival on a warship is a very metal thing to do, but have you ever seen the accomodations on one of these things?

Give me a cruise ship with buffet tables open around the clock, a fitness center and a (semi-)comfortable bed any fucking day over this horseshit.

But yeah, it's very metal. Pun intended. :metal:

EDIT: I think this is already a regular thing, but not on a ship. If that's the case, chances are it's a deal where the ship is docked next to a pier, the fans board the ship for the show, and then they leave at night and stay somewhere else. That would make more sense.

IMPALED and AUTOPSY confirmed. JELLY

That would be very tempting to see, but it's going to suck because both of them will get 30-40 minute sets.

Philm got added to the lineup. I guess the crowd would be excited to see Dave Lombardo but Philm isn't really metal at all so they really don't fit on this lineup.

I have seen philm and i definitely would say their music is in no way shape or form has even a hint of "metal" in it. When I saw them all they did was play a bunch of trippy ass blues-funk-heavy on the bass driven punk like tunes with a ton a trippy psychedelic elements thrown in. As dave said it best, its all the music from the blues, funk, groove era of music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s all meshed in together with a lot of aggressive punk moments added to create well...honestly it's really hard to describe their music but it is FAR from Daves heavy evil thrash roots that he is so well known for in Slayer. Anyways, here is a video of Philm performing a song at this bar that I saw them play at. I definitely can't see this band playing with Autopsy and bunch of other mother fuckers that sound so radically different than the music that philm plays.

I wouldn't say Philm has no hints of metal whatsoever. I listened to their debut record and it's pretty much post-hardcore with hints of prog and a lot of jamming.

I'll be in college by then. I'll be in San Jose. Does that change things?

Actually that genuinely might, I frequently head to shows from SJ since most of my friends live around there. I'll keep you posted on Facebook, but if I end up heading from there I can give you a lift there and back!

Nice dude! It'd be much appreciated. Hopefully this doesn't sell out, because I'd most likely have to get a ticket at the door.

Vio-Lence (along with Sodom and Exumer I think?) were the most requested band to play from a poll that the organizers did on Facebook. Apparently no one told the bay area thrash babies that Vio-Lence haven't played a show in 7 years and that Phil Demmel makes more money on one Machine Head tour than he probably ever did with Vio-Lence.
