They will probably never play at Graspop Metal Meeting, because they are too expensive.

That, together with Dour & Werchter Classic, is the only big festival they haven't played yet in belgium.

Yet you do get things like the Big Four concerts, which the UK hasn't had and you're likely to get more of at some stage, and the San Francisco Fillmore shows.

Or going further back, the S&M shows.

And so on.

Hope it's true that Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to headline this year, since the All State Arena show sold out so fast (not counting obstructed view & behind the stage seats which are useless). I love Metallica and The Killers too. Any chance that Metallica will do Black Album live in it's entirety at Lolla? Oh and it sucks that Korn isn't going to be on the main stage if this leaked lineup is correct.

That's $60.00 PER DAY, just so you know.

They are generally about $90.00 per day, no significant discount for buying multiple days. The sale tickets are like 1/3 off, and as folks have said, they go quick.

False, the first round on sale is a $60 3-day pass. The next round is usually $180 or so for a 3-day pass, which is still cheaper than full price. It's a huge leap.

The catch is, they let you know the day before it goes on sale, but not what time it goes on sale. So you either need to be an Internet fiend or have a system set up with friends constantly checking for when they go up.

I hope Sonic Youth is playing because it means they're still a band (it's probably hard to stay together when your guitarist and bassist get a divorce). I won't go to this but it'll give me hope for the future at least.

Natrlhi

A three-day pass for sixty bucks, total?!? Are you sure? Why would they even do that? What would they hope to gain? People want Lolla tickets badly enough that they don't have to drop their prices like that just to create a buying frenzy, so I guess I just don't see the point of why they would do something like that.

Oh well - if you're right, you're right. I don't remember hearing about that in the past, though.

But hell yes, if it's true. Sixty bucks for all three days is a no-brainer.

create a frenzy, get word of mouth attention to the fest. the $60 passes are surely relatively limited and wont result in a great blow to profits, will sell out instantly, and probably will result in many people whining about missing out on social media and such.

I'm just saying that they don't really have to do any of that. It's not like this thing is underground or doesn't already have folks all over the country (and for that matter, even outside the U.S.) clamoring to every information outlet on the internet just to find out what they need to do to get tickets. It just surprises me to think that the Lolla people actually think this thing needs a jump start to get the hype machine going every year.

The Big Reveal

Ready for the big news?

As youíve likely noticed, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has announced a date in Copenhagen for August 6, 2012. You probably think this makes them unlikely for an appearance at Lollapalooza a few days prior. Luckily, I have an explanation for this whole thingÖ

Iíve been fucking with you this whole time.

I started @LollaLeaks as a bit of an experiment. Could one ďanonymousĒ person throw a random lineup on the internet and get people to believe it? I figured Iíd fool a few people, maybe make a local blog or somethingÖ Never did I imagine I would end up feuding with Perry Farrell (Dave Navarro chimed in at one point, too) and have my fake ďleaksĒ reported on by several very reputable blogs and news outlets. (Several reporters even attempted to contact me for more info through Twitter) After one week of posting, I had 2,000 followers who retweeted my every post, came to me with questions, and lashed out at me when I posted about acts they didnít like. It was the single most bizarre moment of my tweeting life.

Part of me does feel bad. Iím sure I got some of your hopes about a lineup that I, for one, would love to see happen. But, at the same time, itís hard for me to sympathize with people who take information from an anonymous stranger seriously. Anyone can start a blog/Twitter account and post lies. Iím proof of that. The fact that so many of you believed me and shared that information is a little startling, to be honest with you. Why not wait for credible sources that have evidence to back up their claims? While I totally understand the excitement leading up to an awesome fest like Lolla, you guys (especially journalists) should know better. Anyway, Iíd like to address a few peopleÖ

Perry Farrell:
I honestly meant no harm with this account. I respect you and the festival more than you can ever realize, and I have created some great memories there. In all honesty, you canít say this wasnít fun. Plus, no publicity is bad publicity! All of this attention is proof of the excitement surrounding what you do. I harbor no ill feelings towards you after our testy Twitter exchange (I assure you, however, I have a very average sized penis) and wish you and Lolla the best. See you in August!

@TheLollaLeaker:
I donít know you. It frustrated me that you kept trying to act like we were working together on these leaks when I know youíre just as fake as me. I know that sounds a little harsh, but itís true. While it may be tempting, be careful who you try to associate yourself with. Your credibility is shot now. Sorry. (Not really).

Lollapalooza Facebook People:
Thank you for promoting my Twitter feed. Within hours of my first post, I gained followers from the posters on this page. This whole experiment wouldnít have been possible without you. (Also, Daft Punk/David Bowie wonít be at Lollapalooza anytime soon. You donít need to be an insider to know that.)

Lollapalooza Message Board People:
This was an entertaining bunch. Everyone was accusing each other of being @LollaLeaks, speculating whether or not it was real (most of you knew I was full of shit), and even getting into serious discussions about whether or not a band like Korn could really play at Lollapalooza in 2012. Thanks for the laughs.

Journalists
The highlight of this whole experience was watching the news stories snowball, each one carrying fake details into the next. Even though my account was clearly brand new, many said I had predicted the lineup the year before. Others attributed bands I never mentioned to my leaked lineup. Most of you avoided reporting the lineup, deciding instead to focus on the Perry Farrell/Lolla Leaks feud, but a few of you reported my lineup as fact. Please, for everyoneís sake, donít be lazy. Donít get caught up in internet frenzies. Someday it might involve something important and can really hurt someone.

So, in short, I would just like to thank you for the fun over the past few weeks and remind you to take everything from anonymous posters with a grain of salt. Festivals can be pretty easy to predict, and some people will take advantage of that and run year-long blogs or create mysterious message board profiles to convince you that they have insider information. Just wait until you hear it from a good, reputable source. Itíll be worth it. I promise.

If you want to yell at me, congratulate me for trolling so well, or anything else (Like offer me a job in your marketing department if youíre C3 Presents or talk about the whole hoax if youíre a journalist who doesnít hate me), feel free to e-mail me at lollaleaks@gmail.com. Iíll try to respond to as many as I can. Depending on the responses, I might even give out my personal Twitter info. Weíll see.

Take care and have fun at Lolla,

-LL

There are still (as usual) a handful of bands that I would theoretically be interested in seeing, such as RHCP, Black Keys, Sabbath (of course), Jack White, Florence, ATDI (fuck yes!), Bassnectar, Justice (fuck yes!), Sigur Růs (fuck yes!), M83, Franz Ferdinand, Santigold (maybe), Neon Indian (maybe), etc.

>RHCP
>Black Keys
>Sabbath
>Jack White
>Florence + the Machine
>ATDI
>The Shins
>Justice
>Passion Pit
>Sigur Ros
>Bloc Party
>M83
>Franz Ferdinand
>Frank Ocean
>Washed Out
>Bombay Bicycle Club
>Macklemore

I'd need to see a day-by-day line-up, but yeah, I'd go.

Wrong.

100% right. The only other band worth anything on this bill is RHCP.

100% right. The only other band worth anything on this bill is RHCP.Your opinion. Which, as I said, is wrong. :finger:

Cool line-up, but take Black Sabbath the fuck off there please. A good deal of the people who would want to see the other bands. Also if you go over the artist to see who added it to "their line-up", barely anyone has Black Sabbath in comparison to the other bands. They just don't belong. Either way awesome fest, would go

I'm going for Sabbath alone just for that day even though they will only play an hour and a half.

Also next to Sabbath the act I want to see most is CHILDISH GAMBINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

someone should be punched for billing the fucking black keys over Sabbath

People do realise that Sabbath and The Black Keys are playing different days and they are each headlining their respective days right? They are both headliners of different days, just becaus their name is ahead of Sabbath doesn't mean they are billed above them.

Also Lollapalooza>every other mainstream music festival in the US.

My guess is Sabbath headlines first day, Black Keys second day, and RHCP final day.

Yep I'm almost 100% sure that's how it is.

It still looks ridiculous

And Lollapalooza is far from better than other US festivals

Definitely not as good as Rock on the Range, that's for sure.

Manson, Zombie, Down, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slash, Trivium

Compared to having Sabbath, ATDI and about 50 horseshit bands

I'm angry enough Jack White is allowed that close to Sabbath.

I would prefer to go to Warped Tour instead of Lollapalooza. I wished Rock on the Range would trade places with Lolla.
