I agree. It seems like these same bands tour nonstop every summer between Warped, SS, Mayhem, All Stars and even Ozzfest (whenever it rears its ugly head).

I guess its something we will have to get used to. Bands don't make any $ from album sales so touring/merch sales are how they survive.

What I still havn't figured out is why not do some kinda huge Mayhem Fest type tour with all these bands? I mean I know AST is big but it isn't selling places like Mayhem is. Slap some dick happy band like Asking Alexandria on as headliners and just throw a bunch of SS's and crap like that on and go for it. They make some money from touring AND it puts it all in one big spot then they can book some off-dates and boom EVERYBODY WINS <_<

Kinda like what Taste of Chaos used to do. Take a bunch of smaller bands and put em in huge venues.

AnthG
02-02-2012, 07:34 PM
The Used and Deftones headlined the first 2 years of Taste of Chaos respectively - far from what I'd call "small bands", unless you were referring to the rest of the support bands.

Y'know, Suicide Silence hasn't headlined a single tour yet for their album that came out last year. Huh.

The Used wasn't that big when they played it but yes I'm mostly talking about the opening bands.

I went to The All Stars Tour last year and I'll admit it was alot of fun and almost every band came out and hung around. Also I scene kid "hardcore" danced for the first time. Also they were always on time and fast at moving band to band so thats a plus.

This year already looks better then last year. Plus, I heard Unearth was the other co-headliner. Which, for me at least, makes this a must see tour.

Even though they have rumored, I really don't see Unearth seeing this tour. They would be so out of place it's not even funny.

As for the confirmed lineup, they did the impossible.... It's even worse than last year.

kalfitegrdan
03-27-2012, 05:52 AM
It seems to me that the tour is trying to branch out with Unearth and Obey the Brave and not just have deathcore, scene-oriented metalcore, post-hardcore and I-have-an-irregular-hairstyle-to-rebel-against-my-overbearing-parents-core bands.

Unearth strikes me as a band that doesn't care what the tour is, they just like going out and playingTrue, but that's not really admirable. It makes them whores. Also, it has hurt their reputations (not to mention ticket / merch sales) with fans such as yours truly, who was dying to see them live for a while, but then basically lost interest because they kept touring with shitty bands.

well I don't know what to tell you, they most likely aren't hand selecting the bands and for some reason they seem to have dropped in popularity despite continuing to make amazing records

still holding out for a Mass Metal tour(years ago Id heard a few bands talk about a run with KSE/ATR/Shads/Unearth)

pretty much all bands are whores thenWhile I'm tempted to refute your statement simply because you're making a pretty broad generalization, most likely for the sake of being dramatic and / or argumentative, I'll just go ahead and say that you are basically correct, although some bands are much worse than others. In a certain sense, everyone who has a job and works for someone else is a whore, but that's not really what we're talking about here. We're talking about bands who just jump on any old tour they can just to get themselves out there. Being a little more selective is always an option, and it might actually help their album / merch / ticket sales overall.

That is legitmately shocking Allegaeon is on the ballot. They are incredibly out of place.

I have a feeling Capture The Crown will win. I have heard so much about them from kids I know that like the type of metal that is on this tour and unsurpisingly like most of the bands on this tour, they fucking suck.

Most of these bands (even though I've only heard about half of them) are awful, but I would like to see Ice Nine Kills win. They are from my town (Their singer actually used to live a few streets away from me. I haven't met him personally, but a few of my friends have and said he is really a nice guy.) and even though their music isn't my thing, it would be cool see someone from my town land a spot on a pretty big tour like this.

dcmetal108
03-29-2012, 01:17 PM
I wonder if they'll put this in a 7,000 person venue like they did last year. Only to have maybe 2,000 people show.

Chicago show is day before my birthday.

Still don't know why they booked it in a venue that holds between 7,000-8,000 people. Last year at the most there was maybe 1,500-2,000 people and during Emmure there was maybe 600 people.

Going to the NJ show to see Stray, STYG, BTM, OTB and Suicide. Going to Allentown just to see Unearth.

mastodon421
05-12-2012, 07:24 AM
I already knew this was going to pollute Massachusetts because Unearth said it was hitting Worcester in August at NEMHF. I will steering clear of this shit, but I feel so bad for Unearth being on this tour, they are so much better than everyone else on the bill and they are going to go over like a fart in church.

Side note, happy to see Ice Nine Kills win the opening slot. Cool to see a band from my hometown get exposure on a big tour.

dcmetal108
05-12-2012, 08:29 AM
I'll be there just for WOP and STYG. It'll be cool to see SS and a few others but sadly my date gets Dance Gavin Dance and not Unearth.

It'll just be fucking empty at the venue.

Horrible promoting and venue choosing.
