Wolverine, you got the source of that info? I ain't seeing it on the Mayhem Fest website or Facebook

If we seriously gotta wait 'til march, that sucks. 4 stages is interesting. Could make it more likely for at least 4-5 good bands.

So the Sumerian stage is basically the mid card set of Summer Slaughter 2012?

I guess so. Sylosis was telling people Nuclear Blast would be well represented & may have their own stage. I think their bands will end up on the Musician Institute Stage.

ITM last album debuted at #15. Not bad. With 3 small stages they could headline 1 of those. I think KsE lands on this tour & either they or ITM opens the main while the other closes out on the Jager - but its all just a guess.

Also with 4 stages u are looking at possibly 16 to 20 bands total. 4 stages throws a twist into things.

What if it looked like this:

Main: Zombie, 5FDP, Deftones, KsE
Musicians Institute: Machine Head, Behemoth, Exodus, Sylosis, Fleshgod Apocalypse
Jager: ITM, MMI, Emmure, Chelsea Grin, Jager Band
Sumerian: The Faceless, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Born Of Osiris, After The Burial

Lots of variety and each stage has its own genre. Don't like the other stages? Hang out at the one you do like then go watch the main stage or leave early.

no, not really. ETID is a fun live band even if I don't like their music. Not so much for Emmure.

Expect overlapping or for a much earlier show time. And even if they start early there will be some overlapping or they will finish the small stages too early at several shows.

Don't be surprised if the band PDP is on that Musician's Institute Stage in a very early slot, they've been on Mayhem playing in a sponsor tent the last several years to promote the school and have a good relationship with the organizers.

Also, there are definitely a few missing bands that I know of that I can't say right now, both main and second stage caliber.

As mentioned before these are some of Sumerian's biggest bands whereas last year the Sumerian Stage had fairly unknown bands on a super tiny stage. Unless they are drastically scaling it up I would be surprised to see any of these guys playing that stage. Any of these bands could play on one of the regular stages of the festival.

I am hearing from a very credible source that LoG may infact play & the hold up on announcing everything is due to waiting on their situation. Mark Morton posted the band was not invited to play on his Twitter but most big bands on a major tour with a set announce date will deny everything.

I am starting to think several of the stages will overlap until the main stage starts.

I think 5FDP is more suited for the FM rock radio crowd right now and that falls in line more with Uproar, which at this point is actually the bigger festival; last year they had 2 stages compared to 1 for Mayhem Fest. Plus 5FDP on Mayhem would be a repeat but on Uproar its a different crowd of hard rock music fans who enjoy more modern bands as compared to most metal fans who prefer the classic bands of metal minus a few modern metal bands like Slipknot, LoG or KsE.

Yeah but look at Disturbed and Godsmack(among others) did both and in Disturbed's case they went back to Mayhem after Uproar, and 5FDP did a massive run last summer with metal bands(mostly)

One quick thought on the Lamb of God option: it was Randy's legal situation that ultimately led to the cancellation of the Mayhem cruise last year, people weren't buying tickets because they had good reason to believe that the headliner might not perform. I can't imagine that promoters would even put their name on a bill right now based on the way things went last year - not as a personal thing with the band, obviously, but just as far as promising something they can't guarantee. I think they're smarter than to do that twice in a row.

No it looks like Zombie is headlinng with Deftones unless LoG is added which depends on the outcome of the trial. Not sure if LoG would be higher. The other band is a mainstage type of act, more in the vein of classic metal I was told.

Rob Zombie

This shouldn't affect things too much really. I foresee them bringing in some good quality again, thats the rumour this time around at least. I was very excited when I was told about the Toronto show, even if taking a tour that big internationally can be a logistical nightmare.

It came here in 2008, and hasn't since. I guess it was too much of a pain in the ass to get Downsview Park after Molson Amphitheatre was originally scheduled. Speaking of which...

Jul 10 - Toronto, ON CA - Molson Canadian Amphitheatre

After the Uproar debicle in 2010 (when the main and side stage played at the same time for that tour), why are they putting this at Molson Amphitheatre? That place can't really do any side stages because there's not much room on the premeses. And as mentioned before when they had Mayhem here in 2008 they moved it from Molson Amphitheatre to Downsview Park. So this could mean that the Side stage is playing at the same time as the main stage, or some/all of the side stage bands will play the main stage or not play at all like Ozzfest in 2006. Laaammme.

Chris_M_S

Ah. I would have assumed that this would be at the Erwin Center or Auditorium Shores. Have you been to this venue before?

Nope. I don't think they've even had a show there yet. I'm assuming it's going to be the standard amphitheater setup with lawn seats, etc and will have the second stage in the parking lot.

I'm really excited for the Austin show. My friends there are always too lazy to come to shows in Dallas or Houston, now there's no excuse.

they are re-positioning the stage this year to face in the other direction though, so maybe that'll make it work. out back the site does extend along the water a little ways, im sure they could stick a stage or two out there.

Weird. Maybe it will work if they adjust it a bit. It's a small venue for this though so it should be more then entertaining to see how they work it all out and to see if the tickets are a ass-ton more expensive.

Talked to a promoter tonight who told me he was offered two different tour packages in his area that were for Mayhem Fest off dates. Bands he talked about (he fished some info for me) along with those that were offered included Rob Zombie, Deftones, 5FDP, In This Moment, Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy and Battlecross.

No mention of KsE, MIW, Chelsea Grin or Emmure, etc. That doesn't mean they aren't playing, their names simply were not mentioned. He did say he was told that they are still finalizing a few bands for Mayhem Fest and that the line up is not complete barring a few smaller bands (my guess is the Sumerian Stage and maybe a few more). Those bands listed above came from two sources who work in the business who are fortunate enough to relay some info to me.

They're a mediocre-on-tape-but-at-least-fun pseudo-thrash/melodic metalcore band. They played their first show outside of their hometown, I think, when they flew to KC to open the Goatwhore/Hate Eternal show at the Beaumont last year when Cerebral Bore and Fallujah had to drop off. They were also on another tour that hit the Granada...Metal Alliance maybe? Either that or Occupation Domination. They aren't great, but I'd much rather see them than a ton of other boring, shitty opening bands.
