I'm shocked at how much people look forward to this fest based on how incredibly generic/bad it is every single year.

I liken Mayhem Fest to Country Fest (a thing here that sells out Gillette Stadium twice each summer).

Why does the average person go? To hang in the parking lot, get plastered, get chicks to show their tits & listen to good music via the car stereos.

Which is fucking lame and those people should be as respected as your average frat-boy goer to these country festivals.

I've gone every year. I'll admit, this year is pretty bad, but a day's worth of metal with a bunch of buddies in the summer at a show with at least 4 bands I wouldn't mind seeing (two of which I really want to see) warrants a lawn ticket. Besides I always get to the GA level with no hassle anyways so why the hell not?

Absolute worst line-up yet. Last year's was pretty fun. This is a shit fest. At least in 2012 the shitty bands were relevant. Most of the older bands on this line-up should've stopped existing in the mid 2000s. Only slightly positive thing I can say is there's a decent amount of small bands, so it's cool they're giving small bands some limelight. Too bad most of those bands fucking suck dick.

He posted his fifteenth (incorrect) "leak" today shortly before the official site had bands on it. Then, when the bands were put on the official site, he deleted his "leaked" post and made a post containing the correct bands, saying a "band member" personally sent him the bands.

He's pathetic.

So in the last half hour someone finally fixed the page, after a million FB posts showing how they screwed up(even more than when this happened in 2011 because that only leaked a few bands)

Really funny seeing 15 year old kids complain, while anyone 30 or over is going "fuck yeah Body Count"

Oh the lulz, someone just said Manilla Road should play and the tour needs to be NWOBHM to be "real metal". Majority of the bands in that genre can't fill a sports bar here nowadays let alone a 20,000 person ampitheater.

just for lulz:

the facebook event page for Denver is going through a shitstorm right now; in the last 10 minutes the date went from July 13th a Sunday to Monday the 14th....then they updated to July 24th a Thursday; to top it off they don't have the venue listed

MONDAY, JULY 14, 2014
Morrison, CO
Red Rocks Amphitheatre
18300 W Alameda Pkwy Morrison, CO 80401 United States

Yep, Red Rocks is hosting the Denver date; and while the only band I remotely care about is Korn, Red Rocks alone for a cheap ticket would be worth it

EDIT: Looking at the festival website, it isn't the full blown lineup, just the main stage bands, but since it is poorly written I can't be sure

Darkest Hour hands down the best band on Mayhem this year every other band doesn't even compare.

Also this thread is more bout the shits and gigs not bout Mayhem Fest. Everyone knows Mayhem fest is a joke and wish it was even on Warped Tour's level.

Yeah i was actually thinking of them as a possibility now that the Slipknot tour was announced. I haven't heard them as being rumored until you mentioned it. I don't know what slot they would take. I don't think they could draw here in the States as being one of the co-headliners, and i doubt they would agree to play a 45 min set.

They have a headlining tour all the way through May, and most of those big markets have the Mayhem Fest, so i doubt they would hit those cities twice within a few months.

Just about every headlining date was sold out barely a minute in, I don't think that would be a problem

Don't know how reliable obviously but WK (incoming hate circlejerk) said Linkin Park might headline. Thy Art is Murder, Glass Cloud and Periphery might play as well. Also said Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson are touring together, suggested it might be uproar.

Can someone just rip out Billy "Whines More Than A Broad During Her Time Of The Month" Corgan's voicebox for the sake of everyone's hearing?

Didn't the Ghostopethodon 2012 tour go there? The only reason I recall it is because Boston was the 2nd date on the tour & I could've sworn Toronto was 3rd.

Usually the lineup will be out and tickets are on sale by now, but the lineup is inevitable:
Headlined by a Hot Topic band
1 good band on the main stage
1 band that should have broken up when nu-metal ended
4-5 x-core bands
3 TRVE metal bands for legitimacy
1 band with a chick singer
A total of 2.5 bands I would pay to see

There's been a massive shift now because of labels, now it's:
-5 Victory bands(confirmed by the label)
-at least 4 Sumerian bands
-at least 1 local band per stop
-4 main stage bands, at least one an arena level headliner and 2 repeats
-6 side stage bands including at least 2 repeats from other years
-at least 1 or 2 of the last 10 mentioned will be on Roadrunner
-at least 1 of the last 10 will be on Metal Blade

I'm pretty sure they'll have Godsmack this year, there really just aren't many bands that can headline. There's at least 4 names now confirmed that have declined for various reasons(SOAD, Rammstein, GnR, Maiden)a nd really one of the only bands making a dent in the US is one that has basically made their career playing Mayhem.

I'm waiting for the day they cut a deal with Sharon and have Ozzy headline.

In a way yes, but as much as I love Slipknot it'd be boring to once again have them headline and play that 60 minute set. If they wanted an angle that'd fill seats is maybe get 3 of the Big 4 to perform.

The biggest issue they have is that there really aren't many bands you can haven headline a tour hitting ampitheatres, that and growing label involvement. I mean it's cool to see labels investing in bands but at the same time a tour that has around 19 bands really only has maybe 4 slots for up and coming bands unless they're on Victory or Sumerian(and like I said before Metal Blade and Roadrunner always have someone).

Why would Slipknot do Mayhem again when their headliner is hitting the same amplitheater that Mayhem does anyway. Slipknot will more than likely outsell Mayhem too.

I just meant that I know a lot of people who go to every Tool show in MN/WI just to see the Tool light show and take drugs. i know an outdoor laser light show pales in comparison to an indoor one. hence killing the buzz, man.

I'd like to think that FNM isn't doing Mayhem just because A.) if they are planning a full scale NA run, I'd personally want it to be their own package not a festival run and 2.) I don't wanna make a 3rd trip this year for a Metal festival. I mean, I'll have to if this does happen, but I'd really want to just drive a half hour to the Twin Cities instead of 7 and a half hours to a Chicago suburb.
