EDIT: Also, this looks extremely tits. This is how you MAYBE get me to finally see TBDM, if they are indeed on whatever date I might be able to attend. No fucking way in hell they should headline over Nile, though. They might be more popular with the Hot Topic (read: more mainstream) crowd right now, but Nile kicks their fucking asses all up and down the street even on their worst fucking day.

Haven't seen HoP yet, but honestly, the only somewhat "meh" band on there for me is Skeletonwitch. Guys, I've seen 'em twice now, and they were nothing special. I was bored by the end of their sets both times. :eyes:

Of course, I'll differ, but whatever. Different genres. Honestly, all of their riffs kind of blend together live, an they play at almost the same tempo every song, and I'm not the biggest fan of his screams. I like 'em on record, but I don't see what makes them stand out compared to other bands that play a similar style like Revocation or something.

New topic, though: I'm most excited about actually catching Hour of Penance. Do they really tour?

I'm pretty sure this is the first time Hour of Penance is performing in the US. They've played a lot of European festivals and some European tours (They were on Deicide's Euro tour last year), but I don't think they've played the US yet. I'm looking forward to it. And I'm looking forward to getting my hands on some merch too because they don't have much online.

'Bout time you came to your senses old man;) For the record, I've never hated on them once. I've just never been drawn in by them either. I'm definitely willing to give them a shot if they're on a decent tour like this, though.

I like 'em on record, but I don't see what makes them stand out compared to other bands that play a similar style like Revocation or something.I actually have to back JD up on this one. I was at one of the shows he is referring to, and both of us came away with the same impression - awesome on album, but somewhat "meh" live. JD does a good job of describing why, too. All the riffs sounded the same, the tempo never changed and the vocals were rather boring. It's probably yet another example of high expectations leading to disappointment for me, but I was honestly more enthralled by Warbringer a couple of years ago than I was with Skeletonwitch...and I never thought I'd say something like that.

(On album, though, The Tits destroy Warbringer hands down. Just had to throw that out there.)

If this goes to Joliet instead of Chicago, I'm going to be pissed.Either one would be OK for me (assuming that this tour doesn't come somewhere closer to me and I have to try to arrange a road trip to see the in-laws in order to see it). Joliet is about the same distance from NW Indiana as the city, and they have a casino there.

I hope it comes to Cleveland, though, on a night that I can make it. Hell - by that time, OUR casino may even be open.

Toledo is TBDM only and its a music festival.Yeah, I figured that out (see edited post above). Not that it matters, but just to pour some salt in the wound, the festival in question has Oceano and Acacia Strain on it. For the love of fuck, what is that shit?!?

supporting new album or not, Nile would not headline. God after thousands of posts on tours i would at least think some of you would get that these shows are NOT based on YOUR preferences. Its by who is the biggest draw.

Its obvious BDM is the biggest draw by a landslide on this tour. If you don't like em don't watch em.

Shit if Nile were to even headline there be a much greater chance of the crowd leavin after BDM which would STILL leave half of you PMS'ing about people not stickin around for Nile.

On a friendlier note, i dig ALL the bands. and HOP is my biggest sell considerin i have never seen them before.

Not really. Both Nile and BDM filled up Reggie's last time they came to chicago headlining.

not that CD sales ALWAYS matter but it is a good idea of who has a bigger following to an extent. Ritual sold 12,000+ first week and Those Whom The Gods Detest was around 3,500.

Facebook fans is somewhat of an idea even despite how trendy it is to "like" something whether its good or not.

Nile has many more years and a few more releases or as you can say seniority but Suffocation and Dying Fetus play around the same size venues as Nile and yet none of them have played over Dahlia in the last few years.

 90 min to San Antonio is way better than 3 hours to Houston.

This lineup =

Given the type of crowd reaction TBDM draws I think it seems appropriate for them to headline and perhaps some kids will get exposed to some things they normally wouldn't hear.

Yeah BDM is without a doubt a much bigger draw than Nile. I love everyone on this bill besides Hour Of Penance (Not because Hour Of Penance is bad I just haven't heard enough of their stuff to say I love them, but what I have heard is great), but I don't get why people are saying Nile should be headlining this tour from a popularity standpoint. Nile opening for Black Dahlia is not even remotely insulting to Nile. Black Dahlia is the most popular modern extreme metal band and they have been around for 10 years so it's not like their some overnight sensations that have only been together for 2 years. This is a huge opportunity for Nile to expose their music to the portion of Black Dahlia fans that don't know about them.

You owe me for being responsible and going to see Russian Circles when it was convenient for your family!Well, it looks like Hour of Penance is on this - and I'm neither here nor there on them. The other announced band - Beneath the Remains, apparently? What are they, a Sepultura cover band? At first I though it was Beneath the Massacre - whom I've seen, and who are fucking awful - but now I'm not sure who this band is.

Anyway, luckily for you (), the concept of a Nile headliner plus a visit to The Rivers is enough of a draw that I can say that this definitely has a serious shot at happening.

Anyway, luckily for you (), the concept of a Nile headliner plus a visit to The Rivers is enough of a draw that I can say that this definitely has a serious shot at happening.

Beneath the Remains is a pretty solid local death metal act. Wanted to get them on Winter's Wake but the schedule unfortunately didn't work out. There may another local thrown on this from what I understand too.

It was the last page and this normally doesn't happen, it sucks that now I am condemned from the internet for my mistake.

The Black Dahlia Murder were godawful when they opened for Nile and King Diamond in 2004. Nile is a very good band, though, so I'll go for them, and even though I've never heard Skeletonwitch, I expect they'll be fun to see. Never heard of the other band.

I might get some shit for this, but I feel that Skeletonwitch are supremely overrated on here. :eyes:Don't get me wrong, they're a good band, but almost none of their songs stick in my mind. Good music, just forgettable. Great live act, though.

Yeah, I expect they're a good enough band on CD, but thrash shines live, so I'm curious to see them. Mantic Ritual was fun as hell, so I see no reason Skeletonwitch should be different.

Really? Within My Blood strikes me as one of my favorite metal tunes. When I think about it, their probably in my top 10.

I was gonna reply to Ian with the same song. Truly a great tune.

Feel the same, man, but I like them better on record than I do live. Like I said earlier, they bored me twice. No shame in admitting that.

Yeah, yeah. Maybe I was just expecting way more from all the love they get on this board. Would rather see a band like, say, NILE, and have them completely fuck my face off with heaviness. And if you want to go for thrashy speed, I'd say a band like, oh, BLACK DAHLIA MURDER is twice as good live.

Yeah, you got me. I totally don't know what thrash or speed metal is, and I wasn't using them as descriptive adjectives to help label their sound.

04/21 Bogie's - Albany, NY

The show isn't listed on Bogie's website anymore, and there weren't any flyers at the Biohazard show I was just at. Not sure if it was cancelled, or what.

Also, it only had Nile + Hour of Penance listed, maybe it was an off-date.

Because of course outside of the internet I get unbelievably mad when I repeat what someone else says to the point where I just snap and go crazy. It almost makes my head hurt thinking that you thought I was mad when I jokingly said I will be exiled from the internet.

I'm not even sure what you're saying anymore - not that I've really cared since the beginning of this little exchange. All I said was that you had apparently not read the last page and a half of posts - which you obviously didn't - and I left it at that. You're the one who got all thin-skinned and butthurt and started crying about how you'd been so terribly mistreated. Now you're trying to act like it was all a joke so you don't look stupid.

Too late.

Honestly, brother...you should really just quit while you're ahead - scratch that...while the hole isn't too terribly deep.

It's only gonna get worse. Trust me.

It was a joke, you acted like it wasn't, and you pull the twelve year old girl on me "I am right, you are wrong, and you look dumb." Besides, how could it possibly get worse, it's the internet. What are you going to do, fight me after a show? :tp:
