March 26th, if you want more precise detail. DVD, Blu Ray, special edition DVD and separate CD are the configurations.

I don't know if I would buy this or not. I'm assuming it won't be both shows in their entirety since the setlist is the same. Just bring out Maiden England on DVD.

If they get the audio mix right, I'd buy the CD. But yeah, live DVDs mixed from multiple shows always suck.

I was ruling out the CD since I bought the Flight 66 soundtrack after buying the DVD and found it to be pointless. I still think Rock in Rio is their best live album. Probably because it was the first live album I had heard from any artist. But the live DVD has potential to be a disaster like you said. Every 30 seconds they swap venues.

Live albums are always more worthwhile than live DVDs. But the sound on the Flight 666 one is so bad, I agree I never listen to it.

What ever happened to the A Matter of Life and Death DVD?

Maidenmagic
01-15-2012, 08:46 AM
Live at Download 2007? I've wondered about that. I guess since they've done a best of tour and a new album it got lost in the shuffle. I watched it streaming and it's on YouTube. No DVD is not a huge loss.

The fans cries of "it's shite" finally got to them and they pulled the plug. (hopefully)

Although Maiden love their fans, I don't think they base too many creative decisions on their opinions.

I think I'm one of the few who think that album is really good lol. I can listen to it from front to back.

A matter of life and death is my third favorite Maiden album. Number two being Brave New World and number one being The X factor.

You should come here more often when there's a raging Maiden discussion. 'The X Factor' has a lot of fans here.

The Blaze albums are one of those standard I-hate-it-because-that's-what-the-internet-tells-me-to-hate things.

X-factor is a guilty pleasure. It's two or three tracks too long and it's a stark contrast in energy from your classic Maiden sound, but it is legitimately a good album. It was just released at the wrong time. Steve is making up for it though by releasing that same album over and over again out of bitterness and contempt for his fans.

Virutal XI blows though. Overly repetitive, inane choruses galore.

There are 4 good Blaze/Maiden songs:

Futureal
Man on the Edge (awful lyrics, though)
The Sign of the Cross
The Clansman

This. VXI has a few good songs, but overall? Yeesh. The X Factor has held up surprisingly well, though.

Lyrically and musically their greatest achievement. Big step up after the Raspy Bruce/hard rock records. The sound they have now is based from The X factor. The only bad song on Virtual XI is The Angel and the gambler. The worst Maiden album, to me, is No prayer for the dying.

Iron Maiden En Vivo! live Blu-ray, DVD and CD will be released on March 26th 2012.

Maidenmagic
01-17-2012, 06:17 AM
Details have been released on the official site. Still not sure if I want this. Hopefully that documentary is new footage and not just a compilation of material from the IMTV documentary. So I guess the history of Iron Maiden part three DVD won't be coming out the first half of the year (or this year at all) It would be stupid to release DVDs close to each other.

You're right.

Who the fuck cares about the title, plus I think it really reflects the South American location. A lot of bootlegs I have from south america have the commentaters talking between songs and they often say IRRRROONNNNNNNNN MAAIDEEEEEEN IN VIVO !!! hahaha, awesome !

Anyway it's gonna fucking kill !

Maidenmagic
01-17-2012, 04:10 PM
Yes I was listening to When the wild wind blows yesterday and my wanting to hear that live shot up so seeing them doing on a high quality DVD opposed to a bootleg will be great. I think their reason for touring North America was to increase the awareness of the album when it came out.

Thirded. I don't know if I'd say it's musically their greatest achievement, personally I'd put it 7th of all their albums, but it's great and most definitely underrated, and yes, easily some of the best lyrics they've ever had.

Yes, the quality of the lyrics are much better then the ones on NPFTD and FOTD.

Looking forward to this release, the new stuff sounds awesome live. Not too crazy about the title though, oh well. The cover art is pretty cool. Better than Flight 666 but not as good as Death on The Road.

I hate split-screen.

IrritatedTrout
03-14-2012, 07:14 AM
Yeah, I don't know what to think of it. It's cool sometimes but in other shots it's overused. I'm much more interested in the CD anyway. I'll probably watch the DVD once or twice, I'll probably listen to the CD hundreds of times by the end of the summer.

ravenheart
03-14-2012, 07:16 AM
I thought it was especially stupid in some instances where two "screens" showed the same damn camera angle at the same time (when Bruce grabs the streamers, for instance).

I'll probably do what I did with Flight 666. Not get the DVD at all, wait for the CD to be half the release price, get that, listen to it a couple of times, and that'll be that :eyes:

Mind you, I didn't think the sound on the Flight 666 CD was very good, which might be why I barely listen to it. If this sounds better, it might get more stereo time.

yeah that is prety stupid but other than that, WOW ! I was scared of the over use of the split screen but I don'ty find it that bad on Blood Brothers andthe shots of the crowd from the sky are amazing

I dig the split screens and it's good that they aren't overused to badly. I'll definitely pick the DVD up since I didn't get to see them on that tour.

DisposableJustice
03-14-2012, 11:12 AM
I'm not a huge fan of split screen, doesn't help I have a little ADD in me, but it doesn't seem like they overuse it, at least in Blood Brothers; I think I will pick up the CD for now and maybe the DVD down the road

The split screen would be badass on a huge TV.

SomewhereInTime72
03-16-2012, 12:00 AM
The split screens were ok.

Other than that, really good quality in terms of audio, good video shots, and of course performance. That said, I'm not sure I'll be getting this, since I already have a billion Maiden live DVDs, and I'm not sure I need this one to top it off.
