"Well we're celebrating our 30 years together... so let's go ahead and bring back the guy who nearly crippled our career!!! Give a warm welcome to Bob Rock!" - James Hetfield

This is the guy who made Metallica into a trendy band in the 90s and with St. Anger. He should NEVER EVER have anything to do with them again!

Hopefully before a leaves the stage, Mustaine comes on and smacks him in the face!

It was comfirmed earlier in the day that Dave would be there. I believe it was announced on twitter or one of those other annoying social media things. People knew it was gonna happen so they weren't surprised at all.

As for the crowd not moshing, nobody has moshed at a Metallica show in 20 years so that's not anything new. Plus, how many people does the Fillmore hold? It could also be so packed that there's no room to mosh or move that much. The last two times I saw Megadeth in a small venue that was the case.

My pictures from the show:

Death Angel's setlist (according to a post on the MetClub forums):

Mistress of Pain
Voracious Souls
Seemingly Endless Time
Relentless Revolution
Kill as One
The Ultra-Violence / Thrown to the Wolves

Damn, that makes me wish I was there even more now.

Got a press release this morning confirming that the rumoured 'Beyond Magnetic' EP containing the four new songs will be released "soon". No details on dates or release formats.

I just hope it's on CD.

It's out now on itunes.

Metal History right there

When Hetfield says "Gotta do Kill em All, obviously, right?" Dave must have been thinkinh "Could do some of lightning too...prick"

Rebel of Babylon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nu-6-B6ioSU)
Dirty Window (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvOZFwiSWfo)
Sabbra Cadabra w/ Geezer Butler (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3EMs79QFds)
Whiplash w/ Jason Newsted (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGc72PX8q0o)
Jump In The Fire w/ Dave Mustaine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9pJOv-jFCY)
Hit The Lights w/ Dave Mustaine, Ron McGovney, Lloyd Grant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SejgLOqI_Ao)

Video pretty good, but not the best audio. Not distorted which is huge, but it's low.

I was pleasantly suprised w/ how well they played Sabbra Cadabra and Jump In The Fire. Was definately cool to see them play w/ Jason and Dave. I've always preferred Jason to Rob, and it was a pleasure to finally see him live.

I didn't see anyone mention it but at the very end of the show, after Seek, Lars said to mark the calendars for June 23 and 24th on the East Coast. Something like what they did here, but in a larger venue. I dunno if its gonna be the same show in two days in a large venue, or something different. But either way if you are a Metallica fan, I'd keep an eye out. I may try and make this one if I can get some time off.
