Low Threat Profile has a new record with 34 tracks that will hopefully come out in 2012 and Lack of Interest has one with 38 tracks. I also know Torsofuck recorded 60 tracks, so hopefully that sees the light of day next year.

Those release dates are crazy. Stuff always comes out on the same day of the week, so the dates should all be 7 days apart. I think you've got some mad mixture of European (Friday), UK (Monday) and US (Tuesday) dates in there.

Oh, and not strictly metal but the new Titus Andronicus is due out next year. Heard two songs from it when they opened for Fucked Up in NYC. It sounds like it's gonna have simpler, shorter songs than on The Monitor, but what I heard was still very good. If it's even close to as good as that record I have to assign it preemptive AOTY potential.

EDIT: And I heard about half of Abigail Williams' pathetic Wolves in the Throne Room imitation before turning it off laughing. Atmospheric black metal produced like sub-standard melodic death metal with about the same amount of musical ambition. Skiiiiiiiiip.

Oooh, forgot about this. Definite AOTY potential.

I also have (cautious) high hopes for the new Tyler, the Creator. If he makes good on the "I'm bored of rapping about rape" shit and incorporates chill beats like he said he's gonna, it could be great.

Not sure how many people here loved James LaBrie's Static Impulse album from 2012. but that whole lineup is writing as we speak, with Peter Wichers producing.

This will be the best Prog Metal of 2012. How do I know? Because Peter made Darkest Hour finally not suck without Kris Norris in the band.

This. The soft shit was one of Goblin's biggest weaknesses so if this is true I might just not listen to the album at all.

DethMaiden
01-02-2012, 03:22 PM
Goblin's biggest weakness was being an 80-minute joyride. It's almost irrelevant which direction he moves in sonically as long as he focuses.

JRA
01-02-2012, 03:25 PM
Or he can make rape rap with chill beats.

mastodon421
01-02-2012, 03:26 PM
The biggest weakness of Goblin for me at least was the amount of filler on the record. The stuff that hits (Tron Cat, Yonkers, She, Golden, Nightmare, Sandwitches) is fucking great, but there was way too many subar/shit songs to make that record truely great. I am curious to hear what Tyler would sound like with "chill beats", so I am definitely intrigued to hear that album.

BloodoftheKings

This is also true. Goblin could have been great if he just left all the bullshit off the album. With just the good songs it could have had a solid 45 minute run time.

I wish they would just reunite in general. It doesn't seem like he has much passion of motW anymore, which sucks. Coyote did nothing for me when it came out. Although he other Kayo Dot albums were ok.

This EP is actually surprisingly better. Well worth the 5 bucks.

There are some parts of it that are fucking beautiful music, that's the only way I can describe. Overall though, it's just not my style, and probably won't listen to it much. I definately respect the band for making beautiful music that's "different". Not really into that kinda music, but whatever genre it is, I've never really heard anything like it.

This album was my introduction to Alcest too. I think it's great mood music. So far the 5 best songs I've heard in 2012:

1) Lamb of God - Ghost Walking
2) Lamb of God - Straight for the Sun
3) Alcest - Faiseurs De Mondes
4) Lamb of God - The Undertow
5) Lil Wayne - Banned From TV

I realize Banned from TV is old but I just heard it recently and for someone to have the balls to cover the best rap song ever penned and to actually pull it off, earned my respect.

I think the new Eluveitie is horrible unfortunately :-( but that was expected.

Yeah, I probably won't think it's horrible but I've lost interest in this band after the last couple albums.

I still have only heard Lamb Of God right now, but I have the new Lacuna Coil and Eluveitie downloaded (I am about to start listening to the new Eluveitie).

I listened to Lacuna Coil earlier. They morphed into Evanescense...

Guess we should have seen that coming

Sucks, Lacuna Coil used to be a great band. I haven't heard the new one, but I might give it a couple spins since I skipped the last one.

Three songs into the album, I can already say fuck yeah. I'm happy with this.

First song was great
Second song was fucking awesome
Third song wasn't as good as the first two but not bad by any means

:rocker:

Thanks for making my night/morning MPF!

Glad I could help, which reminds me. I gotta get back to my top 50 thread.

Anyone checked out the Iron Reagan (Members of Municipal Waste and Darkest Hour) demo yet? I think it's pretty good crossover, very similar to early EP/Split Municipal Waste.

Iron Regan is pretty badass for just being a 5 minute demo EP. If they get a full blown album out of this, it will be awesome.

Heard Lamb Of God last night (as some of you will remember from Facebook).

Its'.....ok. I like it more then the other albums from Ashes to Wrath, but still lacks more then half of what I loved about As The Palaces Burn.

The intro and last song are all i really kinda dug. The rest is standard LOG.

I'm actually enjoying the new LoG quite a bit at the moment. And I'm the guy who went on a tirade about how they went to shit after Ashes a few months ago.

My pre-order of Aborted's Global Flatline shipped today, so I should have it in a few days. Really looking forward to that one.

That, combined w/ Biohazard's Reborn In Definace and the new Lamb Of God (I know it's leaked, but I usually plan on waiting for the release to listen - don't ask me why) also coming in the next week, I'm pretty excited :D.

The debut by Dodecahedron is fantastic. Best BM release this year so far, an ambient and more structured Deathspell Omega circa "Paracletus".

Engineering The Dead and especially Goremageddon are the ones you want to listen to. The Purity of Perversion is pretty good... but the other albums aren't that good compared to those first 2 I mentioned.

This. Goremageddon is probably their best album, and The Purity of Perversion is my 2nd favorite. It's a shame they don't play anything from it (Purity) live anymore. Another album that is very good IMO is 'Slaughter & Apparatus - A Methodical Overture'. Most people don't seem to like it as much, but it was the first Aborted album I really sat down and listened to, so I have a deep appreciation for it.
